So I Want To Play Wide Receiver In Football Next Year Varsity Football But I Don

How can I become a college football wide receiver if my parents don't let me play football?

Look, in all honesty if your parents aren’t going to let you play football (and, for the record, I totally agree with them on that), it’s not going to be easy. That means you’ll have to work and train and keep yourself conditioned, on your own, until you get to college. That’s hard to do. I mean yes you can Google and look up workout routines and use your school’s gym and all that stuff….. But the extra motivation that comes from having a coach all up in your grill is very hard to replicate. Also, it’s one thing to read about running various routes online, but it’s another thing entirely to actually DO those things on the field, with defenders covering you and with a quarterback under pressure, and learning how to adjust.Simply put, there really is no adequate replacement for being on an actual team in high school.THAT ALL BEING SAID- if you are really, truly special in terms of athleticism and talent, you could theoretically walk on at college. You would have to keep yourself in phenomenal shape, and you’ll pretty much need to have won the genetic lottery, because I can’t see most college programs taking a risk on someone who has never played football before, unless that person was truly exceptional. So it’s not impossible…. But it’s not likely.Even so- in terms of getting to the National Football League you’ll be at a huge disadvantage, in terms of experience, when compared to all the other kids who have been playing football their entire lives. If you really are lights out in college, you may have a shot.Long story short: don’t do this, it’s stupid and you’ll probably fail. But if you really want to try, here’s how.

Why don't Asian American kids play football?

I played a bit of football when I was younger since my classmates and I were around the same size. Since I was pretty speedy, I usually played wide receiver. However, once it got to high school, athletes started getting pretty big. I was around 120 pounds and these kids were around 180 pounds. At this point, I would be risking injuries by playing football.Asian Americans tend to be less bulky in build so there’s a higher chance of injury, which is why they gravitate towards non-contact sports like tennis, swimming, track, or volleyball.I still love playing football, but I couldn’t imagine myself continuing playing football with these massive 200/300 pound linebackers.

How can i get onto my high school varsity football team if I've never played football before?

I highly encourage you to try out, and play, for your high school varsity football team next season. It will not (yet) be too late for you to start playing football.

Based on your height and weight, I believe that the best fit for you is at the wide receiver position. For your age, you have the ideal size for a high school varsity wide receiver. Keep in mind, some high school wide receivers are shorter than 5 feet, and weigh less than 100 pounds.

What you need to do during the next 10 months is eat healthy, and exercise by doing a lot of running every day. If you do these two things, you will get faster, stronger, and into better shape, which will greatly improve your chances of making it on your high school varsity football team next season.

Can i play varsity sophomore year?

Yes. You are a total beast. If you don't start varsity there is something wrong with the coaching staff. Based on your height and weight I believe that you will make a very good fit at the wide receiver position. You have the ideal size for a high school wide receiver.

Remember, the best way to prove yourself is through actions, not words. My best advice for you is to work hard and perform very well in practice every day. In addition, what you need to do this (and every) offseason is eat healthy, exercise by doing weight lifting, and either jogging or going for a long run every day. If you do these things, you will get faster, stronger, and into better shape, which will greatly improve your chances of becoming a successful, top notch wide receiver in high school football, who could go on to play college football.

By the way, your chances of playing college football depend on your performance in football during your sophomore, junior, and especially senior, years of high school. If you perform very well in football during your final 3 years of high school, you will greatly improve your chances of getting recruited to play for a college football program in the future

I'm 14 years old and I want to try out for my freshman football team, I'm 5'9" and 130 pounds, what position should I play?

Whatever you want. Play them all! You’re a freshman! This is your time to try what you want to try. If your coaches are worth anything, they’ll study you, try you out in different spots and figure out where you’re best suited. Or maybe they’ll stick you in a moron spot and you’ll suck, but you’ll stick with it and around JV or Varsity where the coaches are hopefully better, they’ll realize you should have been in a different position the whole time and you’ll make all league in that new position, go on to get a scholarship then play for the New England Patriots! If you don’t like your spot, ask to try something else out. Don’t worry about winning. Freshman year isn’t about winning it’s about honing. As is JV. Varsity is where you bring your game face.I don’t know if you are aware of De La Salle, if not then look them up. They were and probably still are the best high school football team in the country. They went undefeated for 14 seasons I think and they had a movie made about them. They played schools in Florida, Texas, Hawaii. They crushed everyone. A private Catholic High School in Concord, California. Well my high school played them. I remember my brother’s freshman year when he played them. They beat them! Our freshman team actually beat De La Salle’s freshman team! Wow! Well come varsity, they were not so lucky. Although they did play incredibly well against them, I believe that was the California State Championship, but they still lost. No one cares about freshman year. It’s a weeder year. They’re going to try to get you to quit, because everyone tries out for football their first year and they need to cut the roster down. Don’t quite and play different positions until you find one that you click with. Then move from there!DON’T QUIT!!!

How dangerous is it for me to play football?

My best advice for you is to first consult a doctor, and see if it is okay for you to play football. If your doctor says it is okay, then I highly encourage you to play for your high school varsity football team next season. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a girl playing high school varsity football, even on an all-boys football team.

Just work hard and perform very well in practice every day. In addition, what you need to do this (and every) offseason is eat healthy, exercise by doing weight lifting, and either jogging or going for a long run every day. If you do these things, you will get faster, stronger, and into better shape, which will greatly improve your chances of becoming a successful, top notch wide receiver in high school varsity football, who could go on to play college football.

By the way, your chances of playing college football depend on your performance in football during your senior year of high school. If you perform very well in football during your senior year of high school, you will greatly improve your chances of getting recruited to play for a college football program.
