What is the FULL Honor Guard Speech given at veterans funerals?
My father was a WWII Vet and he was honored in a ceremony performed by 2 Honor Guard Soldiers. They played Taps and one of the guards got on one knee and presented a folded flag to my mother. He gave a moving speech explaining the flags many features and what they stood for. He then went on longer with a speech that began "Ma'am, this flag is presented on behalf of a grateful nation and the United States Army as a token of appreciation for your loved ones honorable and faithful service." It went on to mention they were there representing their Commander in Chief Barrack H. Obama.
Does anyone know what speech topics are given for the Dantes priciples of public speaking test?
You are only given 10 minutes to prepare an outline on a pursuasive speech, you have 3-5 minutes to give it, I'd like to know what are some of the topics given, thanks for the help! ten minutes is not much time to prepare...
What was the most memorable day in your life? Why was it so special?
One of the best memories is how my first birthday in Pune was celebrated .I was invited to my friend's house for dinner ,night before my birthday .I went their with my friend . I could see all people were busy with something or the other. A few of them cooking in kitchen while some others doing something in the closed room . I was asked to sit and watch TV and not to enter in kitchen .I was chatting with them and watching TV as usual . At dinner time I was served a delicious dinner .As the clock striked 12 all of them gathered and asked me to open the door of closed room . As I opened door what I saw was a big surprise for me . Dark room lighten by the candle lights . My name n wishes written with real flowers . Above a small almirah I could see a laptop displaying my pics which were getting changed after few seconds . The room was filled with balloons and when I entered someone bursted a balloon having sparkles which covered me in glitters. They made me wore a Tiara written happy birthday princesses and gave me a flower bouquet . the effort put in the decorations made me feel like a princesses too . There was fruits cake which too was delicious .What's important is that ,Only one of them was my friend from college .for rest of them I was just friend of friend and still they put their so much effort to make me happy.Memory is almost 4 yrs old but still makes me smile whenever I remember that day.
What is the most memorable thing that happened in your college days?
Thanks for A2A !! My entire college life is a memorable one! To be more specific, the Industrial tour with my class can never ever be forgotten!! Awesome memories.. We used to shout ,scream and dance in the bus for beat songs.. We dance till we drop. Enjoy every second of the tour.. In lodge we scare all people and play.. We turn into small kids in those times.. Now if I think it makes me laugh at our kiddishness.. Actually one turns out to be a small kid when he/ she is totally with friends.. Best memories ever.. Bunking classes and eating in canteen and there comes our teacher ! Oh my God ! Each one runs into different directions.. Once my friends and me went to canteen and were late for class.. We cooked up a story that one of our friend fainted and bunked the entire class making an excuse to take her to hospital and we roamed .. Though its wrong to do this but we enjoyed it!! Exam halls are the best..!! Though I wont help anyone to copy my answers, people will beg answers from me.. I would laugh so much when I see their expressions.. And the way they copy in classrooms can never be forgotten. Then one day we found a newly hatched sparrow was lying on the corridor and we girls found the nest and saved it.. That nearly took 3 hours and we bunked class .. The way we shout our friend's name when her enemy or her crush passes by, she would burst into tears begging us not to do that.. We used to sit and learn together.. Some will write answers in bits of papers, store important constants in calculator!! When the teacher takes attendance ,we will shout absent for the one who is present !! And she will jump up and shout " present mam" and she would be scolded.. Eating in the class , sitting at the last bench and passing it to all friends and pretend not to eat when the teacher sees.Standing together when there is a problem for a girl and speak as if I'll give my life for her but finally the teacher will say " only the girl who has problem be here , others move out!" We would come out laughing. When the teacher scolds our friend we all will bend down and laugh badly ..So so many incidents I can never forget .. College days taught me to laugh till my stomach hurt!! All looks so stupid.. But I'm sure when I'm an old granny .. Sitting on chair , leaning back, ill laugh with tears when I recall these!! .. Thanks again A2A . You got me tears in my eyes!!
What should I write about? I am trying to write something every day, but I don't have many ideas. It could be something simple, or complex.
Simple?? Write about your day. It may seem boring at first, but its a good habit to get into, and your future self will love you for it. That being said… the longest diary I've kept is about 3 days before I get distracted.Another option is pick a random person you see. Describe how they looked, make up a small little story for them. Why were they there? If you spotted them in a shop, what were they buying? Give them a family, or a partner, or a job. How were they walking? Etc. Take that split second image of a person, and make them a character in a story.I did that as a writing exercise with my class. 3 of us had the same person, and none of our stories matched up.A third choice is ‘writing prompts', you can find a whole bunch online, and they all offer different options. Some give you songs, some names, some a sentence, and then you can build a story based on that. How it makes you feel, what you imagine based on the senario, and so forth. My friends and I, for a few months, did weekily prompt challenges. One of us would pick a prompt we liked — from anywhere we wanted, some we even made up. Then we'd all have a week to write a story based around that. At the end of the week we'd share. Again, despite having the same prompt, none of our stories were the same.Another fun option, give yourself a challenge. Once I wrote a short story, and I wasn't allowed to use the vowel ‘I'. (I heard about the book ‘the void' where the author doesn't once use the letter ‘e'. Originally written in French, but translated into other languages as well.) Or have each new sentence start with the next letter of the alphabet. Once I did that, but it was with each character that was introduced rather than each new sentence. Though I have done both. A-Z then back up again.Honestly, there are so many awesome options to give you story ideas. Some as simple as just asking yourself ‘what if ___'. What if a UFO crash landed at my workplace. What if I'd turned left instead of right. You'll find what works for you, and remember — never ruin a good story with facts. It's the joy of fiction writing, creative liberties. And those silly little writing rules that say you can't do something? Rules are made to be broken. You write how you want and what you want. Nobody ever has to see it unless you want them too.Goodluck!
I have my felicitation ceremony in my school. I have been asked to present an inspiring speech (English) to motivate my juniors. What do I say?
Motivation= Internal and external factors that stimulate desire and energy in people to be continually interested and committed to a job, role or subject, or to make an effort to attain a goal.To motivate others, we have to show commitment to ourselves, our goals and dreams. To have a healthy amount of self-discipline and will power along with hard-work are the keys to make it work.Check the qualities/events/people who inspire you or have inspired you in the past and share them.Check and share your traits which you have developed over the course of years to help you attain your goals-academic or otherwise.Name some great people and their prominent traits. They have a common thread running and in the end, they have become a motivational force themselves.Re-affirm the fact that though inspirational and motivational stories are good, you have to find it in yourself. Be your own biggest driving force & your own best competition.Rome was not built in a day-Stress the importance of hard work and perseverance. While talent is necessary, there is no shortcut to hard work.Connect with the audience-share stories, anecdotes, be personal and if you want, you can interact with the audience and ask them to share inspirational stories at the end.Tell them-You are awesome and great. And let nobody tell you otherwise. Just open up your mind-it has endless possibilitiesTell them that we decide our own boundaries-we should let go of anything and everything that is holding us back and not be scared to be ourselves. To love & accept ourselves for who we are while working towards improvement. All the best! Thanks for the A2A Payal Choudhary.Do tell me how it goes.Love,Apurva.
