Social Nihilism Relates Best To What Political Views

What are some views on nihilism?

I think nihilism is a really good defense against the absurdities that will inevitably arise in life. But, there are a few problems. To begin, I want to quickly state a somewhat obvious assumption about our natural state of being. With respect to our animal nature, I think we cannot help but give in to the overwhelming feeling that our lives as individuals are the central and most significant part of the universe. This feeling of importance, regardless of its accuracy, is certainly necessary as an impetus for taking the actions required to survive. In this sense, nihilism, with its complete lack of focus on the meaning of human life, is fundamentally at odds with a very primitive sense of meaning we are all compelled to hold. But, we are smart. Really smart. Much smarter and more knowledgeable than the furry little friends in our backyards. Through images like the ones provided to us by the Hubble Deep Field, We have, for the first time in the history of earth, been able to directly experience the incomprehensible vastness and unfathomable age of space.Take a look at this image, and try to understand your place in relation to it.This image, containing thousands of galaxies, is over 10 BILLION light years away. Each one of these galaxies can be hundreds of thousands of light years across, and can each contain trillions of stars. Now, recall that a human life takes place over the course of 100 years at best, on a little spec of a planet floating around as one of trillions of the microscopic pieces of cosmic dust in our galaxy. Think of the billions of people over the course of human history whose names we no longer remember, lost forever to the relentless progression of time. Each one of those people felt, throughout the course of their entire lives, that their life and the aggregate of experiences and people composing it, was the premier event of the universe. The truth of the matter being that the universe is utterly indifferent with respect to how you choose to live life; it will go on unfolding like it has for billions of years as if you never even existed. In short, I think that our modern understanding of mankinds nonexistent role in relation to the universe is intellectual candy for nihilism. But, I also think that nihlistic thought constantly is at battle against our deepest animalistic urges to give meaning to our lives.-Revel in your total lack of significance, and have a good time before the lights go out.

Going Nihilist, need tips?

Well guys, I am deciding to go nihilist. Why? I have started to see how pointless life is. I mean really, I was thinking about the world, and all her troblems. Thinking of ways to fix them, and such. Untill I realized how pointless it is. We all die eventually, YOLO, but who cares "You only live once". Whatever, even if we cure the world's troubles, it doesn't matter. I have never fit into society, I have never blended in. Sometimes I try to create an identity for myself, and where does that lead me? It leads me here, to Nihilism. It seems like the only way to be independent.

I don't care to start a revolution, I don't care to make a difference, I don't care to make friends. There is no point. So I am just going Nihilist. I am thinking about committing suicide, maybe I'll buy a "1-way ticket" to death soon, who knows.

Here is my new plan of a day nihilist routine.

-Wake up
(Listen to nothing, do nothing)

Eat
-I am wondering what the most nihilistic thing to eat is)

Go to Work
-I hate my job. I just got my paycheck, until I realized, whats the point in spending it on anything. In the end their really is none, plus my credit card is linked to my moms or some **** so she sees everything i buy. I think of committing suicide every time I was in school, and even while at work.

Play some MMORPGs
-Again from a nihilistic point of view, their is no point in playing games. But I have nothing else to do. I am playing maplestory at the moment, if anyone else does just send me their username/server (you can msg me on Yahoo answers).

Go to sleep, and repeat from step 1.

I am going nihilist. I don't care to fit in the wilderness rednecks, I don't care to fit in with the Starbucks liberals, or the Preppy Mall-types, or even the Political savy types. I don't care to fit into anything anymore, I just want to be nihilist. We are suppose to pursuit our own identity right? Well that only leads me to Nihilism.

So I will ask again... any tips? Is their some good nihilist music, thanks

What are some must watch philosophical TV shows or movies?

Have you ever watched the movie ‘Her’ (2013)?Although it only touched upon philosophy in a very small moment of the movie, I believe it is the most dialogue in the whole movie. The movie introduced philosopher Alan Watts. Who is Alan Watts? Well, he was a very famous Buddhist known for his very zen books! These are some of his most famous quotes:The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. No valid plans for the future can be made by those who have no capacity for living now.Trying to define yourself is like trying to bite your own teeth.I have realized that the past and future are real illusions, that they exist in the present, which is what there is and all there is.Zen does not confuse spirituality with thinking about God while one is peeling potatoes. Zen spirituality is just to peel the potatoes.Never pretend to a love which you do not actually feel, for love is not ours to command. But the attitude of faith is to let go, and become open to truth, whatever it might turn out to be.You and I are all as much continuous with the physical universe as a wave is continuous with the ocean. But I'll tell you what hermits realize. If you go off into a far, far forest and get very quiet, you'll come to understand that you're connected with everything.Technology is destructive only in the hands of people who do not realize that they are one and the same process as the universe. As Samantha, an artificial intelligent OS living inside of the main character’s phone, is becoming more self-aware, she turns to an OS of Alan Watts. And after much consultation with him and myriads of other OS’s, she decides to follow Watts path. As she has become much like a god, she realized that she must become one with the rest of the universe. That she couldn’t be confined within just a device, but need to be everywhere and, at the same time, nowhere.I was a bit reluctant that they didn’t give Alan Watts much of a dialogue, but more or less, was impressed in his addition!

How does the movie "Fight Club" relates to Nietzsche?

Because it's actually telling the truth. In a bold way.

Nietzsche said, in Thus Spoke Zarthustra, the higher we fly the smaller we look to the eye of the envious. Which means, they think we look stupid or small in status when we succeed.

He said lots of really profound things.

Fight Club is a movie which combines a whole lot of Jack Handy styled profound things. It's a series of profound ideas that are easy to overlook. Conveyed like Jack Handy writes stuff. Single Serving Friends is my favorite idea because it's true. That's what you are to someone sometimes. Convenient. Or like how you don't really know what goes into making things. Or how easy it is for people to actually get away with things. Or how easy dating actually is.
