Some Of My Digital Music Is Not In The Correct Ipod Format. How Can I Reformat Those Files

What audio file formats does iTunes support?

From iTunes 11, it can currently read, write and convert between MP3, AIFF, WAV, MPEG-4, AAC and Apple Lossless (.m4a).iTunes can also play any audio files that QuickTime can play (as well as some video formats), including Protected AAC files from the iTunes Store and Audible audio books. There is limited support for Vorbis and FLAC enclosed in an Ogg container (files using the Ogg container format are not natively supported) or Speex codecs with the Xiph QuickTime Components. Because tag editing and album art is done within iTunes and not QuickTime, these features will not work with these QuickTime components. As of Snow Leopard, iTunes 9 (Mac) will play HE-AAC / AAC+ internet streams. The latest version of iTunes (Win/Mac) supports importing audio CDs with the default iTunes standard file format of AAC at 256 kbit/s, but users can choose from 16 kbit/s to 320 kbit/s constant bit rates (CBR) in either AAC or MP3.[citation needed] Importing of audio CDs into MP3 or AAC formats can also be accomplished using variable bitrate (VBR) encoding. The Windows version of iTunes can automatically transcode DRM-free WMA (including version 9) files to other audio formats, but does not support playback of WMA files and will not transcode DRM protected WMA files. Telestream, Inc. provides free codecs for Mac users of QuickTime to enable playback of unprotected Windows Media files. These codecs are recommended by Microsoft.

What is a quick method to convert my iTunes library to MP3 format?

iTunes has this built in to it.All of the other people have suggested alternative softwares, some of which may cost money, and may be extra software you just don’t need. What many people don’t know, however, is that iTunes has this feature built into it.All you need to do is:Go to the ‘Edit’ menu, and click on ‘Preferences’.Go to the ‘General’ tab, and click on ‘Import Settings’.Select the setting that you want to convert your iTunes tracks to(in your case, MP3)Then go back to your library and select all of the tracks that you want to convert. Then go to the ‘File’ menu, hover over ‘Convert’, and select ‘Create MP3 version’.Then everything will start converting, and iTunes will do it all for you. This is the method I used when I needed to convert all of my iTunes files to MP3s for eMusic, and it worked really well and quickly. This should work unless they are DRM-protected purchased, where you will need them to be iTunes plus to convert. If that is the case, you may need to use the other converters.

Ecilpse mp3 wont play all music?

* Try to reset the player - some of the models have a reset button on the back (that looks like a small hole) - press it.

* MachSpeed's players (brands - Eclips and Trio) do not read DRM encrypted files (so even if the format is mp3 or other supported one, it still wouldn't play). Are those that are not playing BOUGHT online? does the player show "Error" when you try to play one of them?

* As a last resort try to reformat the player's memory :
WARNING this will delete everything you had on the player so far- so make sure to back up!

How can I convert audible AAX files to MP3?

You cannot do it, that is part of the Audible way.  I actually contacted Audible to find out the answer to this question and they politely informed me that they had the best customer experience in mind when deciding this!  I simply want an MP3 CD to stick in my car (my iPhone is out of space and I don't want to take it out of my pocket and plug it in every time I enter the car anyway).  The following quotes are directly from the customer service rep that responded to my complaint:Apparently Audible files "do not come in and cannot be converted into MP3 or any other formats. The measures taken by Audible are required to protect both the intellectual property rights of our Content Providers as well as the Authors." Because I care.  Happy to pay $100 per book if I could just have what I want (MP3 CD).What is interesting is that they claim that, "In addition to our providers, our primary goal is to offer a great customer experience." !!!!!!!!!More rationalization on why there are no MP3s: "We understand MP3 formatted files can be useful but ... the .AA files, have functions, which make your experience more user-friendly. With .AA files, you can store playback positions and navigate between chapter and sections.... you can enjoy Audible's audio books which can be played in over 600 AudibleReady devices, including Kindles, iPods and most other MP3 Players. They do make connectors for almost any kind of MP3 player that will allow you to play it through your car stereo, this would definitely be the most convenient way to go. We also are compatible with GPS devices such as Tom Toms, all PC's, Mac's and in-house systems such as Sonos."  To quote "I don't care about any of that."  And please do not tell me how my experience is more user-friendly!  If you have to say that, its not.

Why does my 40gb ps3 say it only has 31gb after formatting it?

After a proper reformatting your 40gb PS3, you should have 37gb of space. However double check your music, video and picture files, save data and installed games to make sure that everything is gone and double check to see you have 37gb as opposed to 31gb.

--

Now the reason you should have 37gb instead of 40gb is how space is calcuated. With a 40gb hard drive, you should have something above 40,000,000,000 bytes. When it comes to working out how much those 40 billion bytes are in GB, it's wrongly calculated that 1000b make up 1kb, 1000kb make up 1mb, 1000mb make up 1gb and so on.

So 40,000,000,000 bytes divided by 1,000 is:

40,000,000 kb. divided by 1000 that's:

40,000mb and divide that by 1000 and you get

40gb.

So that's how space is basically worked out.

The thing is, it's not 1000 but 1024. so 1024k is really 1kb, 1024kb is really 1mb, 1024mb is really 1gb and 1024mb is really 1gb and all of these little 24s that aren't be calculated right change everything

So 40,000,000,000 bytes divided by 1024 is:

39,062,500 kb. Divide that by 1024 and you get

38,156mb, and divide that by 1024 and you get

37gb.

It's not just with the PS3, but every type of storage device, from memory cards in cellphones or gaming cartridges, to blank discs, to pen drives, to hard drives. Everything is sized as being 1000 but it's not, so you get a difference in everything.
