Some Russian Site Started Opening Whenever I Start My Pc

Got an email "Russian hackers mafia OWNS YOU" and opened it?

Got around ten of same in the past few days. It is sent to a huge mailing list containing emails that seem consecutive in alphabetic order... I always received it from a different sender, but all senders' addresses are really close to me in alphabetic order.

There is no links and no attached file, but I still opened one of them to read it, and guess what, the last one I received was sent by myself... (well, it does not appear in my sent emails, but, this is my address that is used as sender...

I do agree that the best is not to open it. May be some virus in email's HTML content, or simply an identity theft sent by any SMTP server... Would be good that yahoo does something about it.

Does the US Navy currently need people with native-level Russian (pro translation experience) + some Japanese?

Getting about sick and tired of where my life is going, suddenly remembered how the recruitment office was slobbering all over me some 5 years back (did that Marine Corps computer test thing - got 97 out of 98 - the Marine Corps suddenly got the hots for me)... Ran out of translations gigs that pay well or even so-so, don't feel like learning something 100% new the way some kid would (feeling kinda too old @ 25), and looking for something where I can just do my damn job and reliably get paid for it. Willing (and interested) in learning new languages, btw (definitely Japanese, maybe Chinese, NOT Arabic).

So, looking through who needs translators these days, the Navy obviously comes to mind. How's the pay? Do translators end up on ships or at huge naval bases most of the time? What are the chances of getting assigned somewhere civilized and nice, like say Japan?

Do Navy translators ever get promoted or does that sort of job stick you in some dead-end paygrade forever?

PS absolutely not interested in chasing third-world extremists on foot with a trusty M16 in hand. NAVY, people. nice clean hi-tech and modern.

PPS doing a bit of college abroad right now, but that's starting to get annoying real fast. also why I can't just drive 10 miles and ask the Navy themselves.

Why does my browser open this random Russian page instead of homepage?

This is a classic Chrome browser hijacking, used to drive traffic to ad revenue sites.Google has a blog entry dedicated to the topic: Clean up your hijacked settingsIf resetting the browser clears the hijack, you're good to go. Otherwise, you may have a secondary malware infection on your PC that is re-infecting Chrome. In that case, you would need to undertake your favorite malware remediation scheme.

How can I stop chrome from auto-opening unwanted ad windows?

There are dozens of exploits that’ll cause chrome to open new windows and tabs with no user interaction whatsoever. All these folks telling you you have malware clearly haven’t spend any time downloading illegal porn, videos or software.First, you need something to block malware servers. uBlock Origin is the best thing going as of this writing. Suppliment that with “privacy badger” and you’ll have a fairly tight solution, but you’ll still get a lot of popunder windows and new tabs.Next, get a second monitor, and place it BELOW your browsing monitor. Most of these exploits work by placing a new 0px. x 0px. window offscreen in the browser, which you can’t see to close. A quick hand will allow you to see these windows before they can load a payload and start annoying you. Finally, when you DO get one of the 100’s of “YOUR COMPUTER IS INFECTED” or “THE FBI HAS BEEN ALERTED TO YOUR ACTIVITY” or whatever threat/scam/etc windows, mouse over the chrome icon in your title bar, and close the window using the red X there, not in the browser window. The only useful plugin i’ve found for this is “Popup blocker (strict)” which is ungodly annoying, but it will stop pretty much anything from opening, including stuff you never thought of as being popups.

How to find this Russian layout keyboard?

I have a US keyboard, but I can't find a layout that provides this setup for Cyrillic letters. I tried to create it on my own using "Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator" but there's always something wrong or missed. Please, find me a good one already made!
