What do you call black people who live in England, Germany, France, Russia, etc.?
Im studying abroad in Vienna from the US and in Austria (and Germany as well) black is schwarze- so i'd be a schwarzerin (black- feminine), but for the most part black people are assumed to be of african descent (directly from africa), and depending on the region of europe are generalized- for example in france many people assumed i was senegalese, because senegal was colonized by france and many people migrate to france from the nation. Racist terms are in the lingo, even in europe- particularly the n-word. Racist tension is far less prevelant in society amongst african americans more towards turkish and gypsy immigrants to western europe in recent years. Terms of endearment amongst native black europeans depend on so many factors- the same in the US: if they are influenced by rap music they may repeat the terms they hear, if they are influenced by other things they repeat those terms, there is no generalization. Here in Austria there was a movement started a little while ago at www.blackaustria.at which sells shirts that say things like 'drug dealer' and 'pickpocket' in german to help dissipate the racist beliefs that all blacks in austria are drug dealers, etc. Hope this answers your questions- i have traveled throughout europe without any major issues aside from stares- primarily in eastern europe though- new EU states. **The forms which ask for your race/ethnicity don't exist here in Vienna at least- the population is homogenous and such data is irrelevant**

Iraq is a country, the people are called Iraqis. Iraq is in the Middle East so you could also call them Middle Eastern. Europe isn't a country, the European Union is a group of countries so you can see how there is a slight difference. Hope that is OK for you.
