English Sentence Example Question? (7th grade)?

My daughter just came to me for her English review homework, and she's in 7th grade. Both of us ended up stuck on one of the problems she needed help with, so I'm hoping someone can help.

The instruction is to find the nouns in a sentence and name if they're proper or common. Pretty simple.

The sentence we got stuck on is;

The Grand Banks is a stretch of shallow water off Newfoundland.

We found all the nouns, but we're unsure about one of them, which is 'stretch'. In this sentence, it's a noun correct? Both of us are pretty sure, but we just want to check.

Thank you.
