Someone Has Blocked The Parking For With Thrir Car.

Legally, if someone parks in front of my driveway, blocking me in, do I have to give them notice before I have the vehicle towed? What if I don't know who or where the owner is?

Where I live, you just call parking enforcement (police department) and report a vehicle that is blocking your driveway. They are usually pretty quick at slapping a ticket on an offending vehicle, but it may take a half an hour or so on a busy day. If the vehicle is blocking my driveway completely I would ask the officer to have it towed, but I can’t do that before the officer arrives. It all takes more time and energy than some passive protection methods I use. First, the pavement in front of my driveway is clearly marked, so those that park can see exactly where their legal parking ends. One of my neighbors had the entire length of the curb in front of his driveway painted yellow. They never block him and they rarely block me. Depending on the jurisdiction, painting public roads and city curbs like that may be illegal.I collect discarded/lost parking tickets I find often on the streets (amazing how many people think they won’t have to pay it if they toss it :) ) and then use those to “warn” drivers that step over the line but not block me too much. By the time they realize the ticket is not theirs the desired effect is already achieved :). Sometimes they are kind enough to leave them so I can use them for the next violator :).Those non-aggressive methods, especially the pavement marking, dramatically reduced driveway blocking incidents. I think it’s safe to say that most people won’t do it if they are made aware when they are doing it. I am also much more confident that those that still block my driveway are doing that on purpose and with full awareness of the consequences. Therefore, I call parking enforcement whenever I see one parked like that and as soon as they get out of the vehicle. I call to cancel the ticket if they leave before the officer arrives, as a courtesy to officers and other people that may need their service more urgently. Also, parking enforcement won’t tag/tow cars parked in front of my driveway unless I call them. That allows me to let my friends and family take that spot if necessary. I avoid that though, lest it gives other people the idea that they can do the same with impunity.Just for context, I live in an area that is visited 24/7 by a large number of people that don’t live in the neighborhood. Most are from the suburbs where street parking rules are much more lax.

Is it illegal to block someone's car that parked in ur assigned parking spot?

I assume that the two spaces are one in front of the other, rather than beside each other.

If you have paid rent for the spaces, you have the full and complete right to the use of those spaces. If you had two cars, you would be blocking one in with the other when you parked.

Seeing as someone has parked in your space, you can still park behind them. If they are blocked in. too bad so sad. The police will not remove the car from your rented property, so they also can not remove your car to let the other person out.

The police are trying to avoid any problems. You may want to contact a police supervisor, and explain to them that unless the problem is handled, you will be filing a formal complaint and going to the press about their failure to protect your property

Another thing you can do is take pictures of the car in your space, and file a small claims suit against the car owner for because they have taken the use of your property without compensation

Has your car ever been blocked in a parking lot by someone who was double parking you? What did you do?

After my mother passed away I was clearing out her home and had several large boxes of books that were to be donated to our public library. I also had my horse trailer loaded with furniture and other items so I parallel parked along the street taking up 3 1/2 spaces for the five or ten minutes that this would take. There wasn’t much space behind my trailer and I couldn’t pull forward because of the building so I knew that I would have to back up to leave. As I was loading the boxes of books onto a cart an older woman pulled a Smart Car into the space behind the trailer which wouldn’t have allowed me any room to back out. She didn’t parallel park either but straight in with her front tires kissing the curb and proceeded to walk towards the library. I politely asked how long she was going to be parked and she gave me a sour look and said a few hours.I briefly explained that I was donating some books and would be leaving in a few minutes, I also pointed out that her car would be blocking me in since I had to back up to leave. She apparently didn’t like that and said: “Well you shouldn't have parked there and I’m not moving my car for you or anybody!”This was literally the only place that I could park since the trailer wouldn’t fit into the parking garage (too tall) so I told her in a matter of fact tone: “That’s okay; my trailer won’t suffer any damage while I’m pushing your car out of the way as I’m backing up.”She got red in the face and moved her car as I finished loading the books. I don’t believe that she liked my sense of humor.

How do I deal with someone that has blocked my car and is aggressive and rude when I ask him to move?

Unfortunately not.You see, Bullies aren’t strong, they’re smart. In one way, at least. They’re smart in that they do the maximum damage or insult to you that will still get everyone else on their side, getting mad at you for retaliating. If I had a say, I’d say destroy his car and beat him to a pulp. And 99% of all people reading this, will tell me that I am wrong for suggesting that course of action.Sadly, short of using physical force, you won’t change the bully’s behavior, so he wins. He KNOWS, that there’s nothing you can do that is reasonable, and so he knows he’ll get away with it. The only way to end this cycle would be to be unreasonable and shank the son of a gun, but, again, you’ll be the bad guy. He’s the guy who parks his two-seater in the mother and child parking spot at IKEA, and you’ll get yelled at for pissing in his A/C intake. He knows he can park there, you’ll get mad (that’s a bonus for him), but you can’t do anything within reason to stop him. So he feels, and in fact is, all powerful.I often ask others, how they’d deal with bullies. And their answer is always to let them have their way, “be the bigger person,” and just serve as a mattress for the bully’s desires to demean, oppress, and put down others for his own enjoyment and esteem improvements. Some suggest we “therapy” them. Well, shucks, I am right now blocked in, let me start a four year cognitive therapy with him in the parking lot. I lose. He wins. That’s how bullying works. We need to punch more bullies. Ideally so hard, they can’t limp home and work out their frustration on weaker targets.

Is it Legal to Pick Up and Move someone's parked car with 3 friends by hand. It is blocking our drive?

It is illegal to park in front of a dropped curb.
Call by law enforcement or your police non emergency line and see what needs to be done to get to towed.

If the car get damaged by you moving it in anyway you are responsible. Unless it is a super tiny cay - you and three friends are probably not going to be able to handle it.

Is it illegal to block in a parked car?

If the parking is in accordance with road markings etc, then the schmuck is f**ked!

Can I park my own car blocking my own driveway or is it illegal?

I live in Bradley Beach, NJ and since parking spaces are hard to come by during the summer months, especially on weekends, can I park my own car blocking my own driveway legally??? I can't pull it into the driveway because I have another car parked there, and I would rather have my car parked on the street.

Blocked driveway, illegal parking?

I live in an apartment building where almost daily someone parks their car blocking the driveway or entrance to the building. Some nights half of the car is sticking out blocking entry or exit from our driveway! How can people be so stupid and think they can fit behind another car that already parked close to the driveway entrance? It is really annoying, especially if you are driving out and someone else is driving into the building. Is there a law against this? Who can I call when this happens? There is no apartment manager and landlord don't live here either so complaining to them is useless.

Is blocking cars in parking lots illegal?

This happened to me in a HUGE - and mostly empty - car park (shh! outside a secret government site). There were only a few cars so I parked near the gatehouse. On my return I discovered there was a car either side - no problem. A fence in front - and a car behind me. Yes with ten thousand free spaces she (sorry) had blocked me in!I looked around for the owner and asked at the gatehouse but they were nowhere to be seen. I waited for a while, then got out and examined my options. Was there maybe just room to get out? I started to reverse, and as I carefully backed out, checking all around, I heard a scream! As I looked around my foot slipped off the clutch, and I felt a gentle bump. The irate lady came running and we inspected the cars. Mine had only a cracked rear light lens, but her drivers side front wing was caved in. When I asked why she blocked me in she didn’t answer. She moved her car, expecting me to exchange details. Sorry pet its private land. I drove off leaving her screaming. Of course she COULD have got my details from the gatehouse - but as I said (shh! outside a secret government site) they would not divulge that information. ;-)
