What are the effects of taking 2500 mg of hydrocodone in one dose?
Likely death from overdose. Keep in mind, the largest standard size is hydrocodone is 10 mg. There have been times when I've taken as much as 50 or 100 mg at a time (by prescription, because I had tolerance and was resisting the change to a more potent drug). I was just over 200 lbs at the time, and I had been building my tolerance for 8 years. I know guys who do an 8-ball of heroin a day who can't handle hydrocodone in huge amounts like a couple hundred milligrams. So, IANAD, and I'm just guessing here, but.... You'd maybe get so sick from it that ykus vkmit it all before absorbing enough to kill you. You might fall asleep first, and choke to death on that vomit. You might just fall asleep, and your breathing and heart rate just gradually slow down (the normal effects of the drug, hardly noticeable at normal doses), and just slip away in your sleep. If you're really silly, you might have taken it in pills that also contain acetaminophen (tylenol, paracetamol), and in that case, you're likely km for a slow and miserable death from irreversible liver damage. But whatever road you get there on, the graveyard is probably where you're heading if you so something ridiculous like take that much hydrocodone. You'd have to eat literally (and I do actually mean literally, not that kind of literally that people say when they really mean figuratively) hundreds of pills to accomish this. It's not happening by accident, it's not going to be an easy thing to do. It gets hard to get them down after your 20th or 30th pill of the day, in my experience (I qaamt taking that many hydrocodone, but all meds combined, there have been times when I've been on 50 or so pills a day... Ridiculous huh?).I hope this is a purely hypothetical question and no one is actually considering doing this. I only have one hydrocodone left but my sister has some Tylenol 3's. I asked her if it was okay to take them both and she didn't know. I am only going to take one of each, so I am not going to take one hydrocodone and a thousand Tylenol 3's lol, So I am on here asking, thanks guys!!!!

You can take them together. Many Doctor prescribe hydrocodone to act as a booster to time release oxycodone. You should always take you medication as prescribed by your physician. In the future, if you need advise on medication and can not reach your doctor, call your pharmacy. There are people on here that would give you a false answer just to be mean. @ Attackthis - Though it takes large doses for Acetaminophen to damage your liver, it can cause kidney damage in over the counter amounts in a short period of time. It can cause your kidneys to shut down with a single use. This is treatable, but very painful. On top of that chronic use of Acetaminophen in over the counter amounts (325mg) can cause Nephropathy, which is permanent. So you have to be careful with Acetaminophen.

Maybe if you take a very large dose of it you may get some relief due to the stimulant effect but that's about it. First, the others are right. The 500 mg refers to the amount of Tylenol in the pill, not the amount of hydrocodone. And you should always check with your doctor before taking any prescription medication. But why are other people judging your level of pain and deciding what you should/should not take for it? As a nurse, that is my pet peeve-people who think they can decide if you are really in enough pain for pain medication. Take it from me, you guys, ribs hurt, whether they are broken, cracked, or bruised. I hope you are never in true pain and get handed a bottle of Advil because someone thinks they have the right to decide just how much you are hurting.

Also, in some individual cases, the level of acetaminophen to produce hepatic toxicity may vary from individual to individual. And, he also pointed out, opiates… particularly in larger amounts, produce somnolence (sleepiness) and even a coma.My best guess is it depends on the balance of amount and the particular person’s overall health. I’m not going to bother asking “why”; I don’t need more stupid in my life at the moment. That said, while IV acetaminophen is available (and, while pricey since there’s no generic, is a very good drug), it isn’t more effective than PO but onset is faster (Cmax ~15 minutes) and it offers less exposure to the liver due to first pass metabolism; i.e. it’s better as a rescue drug than PO (or PR) and has lower risk of hepatic injury, but doesn’t deliver an over-all greater analgesic effect.That said, Ofirmev isn’t simply PO acetaminophen ground up in a suspension; as others have observed trying to shoot up Vicodin is likely to be a one-time experience owing to embolism or clot.The entire concept verges on redefining “dumb”.
