Sore/achey Neck At The Sides Should I Go See A Doctor About It

Would you go to the doctor if your neck hurt for more than 3 weeks?

I have exeperienced neck pain myself, after sitting for long hours in front of the computer or when I slept with my neck in an incorrect posture. If your pain is persistent showing no signs of coming down, I would try and consult a doctor and understand why it has been occurring. In my case it has been due to strained muscle. I now make sure that I position my neck properly while sleeping. I gave up sitting on a chair while working and now stand and work on my computer. While standing, I realise that I move my body more often and since then I have never experienced neck pain or even back pain ever again.Incase you want to see a Doctor through video in minutes*, you can try using CurieDoc. We would be delighted if we could be of any help.*Subject to availabilityDisclosure: I am the Co-Founder of CurieDoc

What type of Doctor should I see for neck pain causing more frequent headaches?

“What type of Doctor should I see for neck pain causing more frequent headaches?”Tension-type headaches are possible, as indicated by Dr. Sie, and can be associated with neck tightness and pain. Occasional minor analgesics and time will help.Minor neck injuries can also establish a cycle of recurrent neck pain and minor headaches that can unreasonably persist for weeks or more. This scenario is common after whiplash, but may occur with less significant neck problems. The headache history and properties can help distinguish between tension-type headaches and migraines. Isolated tension-type headaches are common and most people pay them little heed. They are bilateral, dull, noticeable, but not debilitating. If treated with a minor, OTC analgesic, they go away. A syndrome of persistently recurring tension-type headaches with significant neck pain is not common; generally such episodes would only last days, unless significant psychosocial stress was present or other underlying issues were present, such as neck injury or Migraine.Migraine attacks are more significant in several ways. They may be unilateral. They are almost always associated with irritability, with fatigue, and with a desire to stop activities and get away from hustle and bustle. Loss of appetite may occur. Neck and shoulder pain is common with frequent Migrainous headaches. If you have a history of such attacks, then the current neck issues and headaches most likely have a Migrainous component which can increase headache severity and intractability. My two cents worth is the following: if the problem is bad enough to cause you to ask what type of Doctor you should see, it's probably Migraine, with or without a neck injury component because most people with tension-type headaches don't seek medical attention. Consult a neurologist, if available. If headaches are both frequent and debilitating, a neurologist specializing in headache management should be consulted.https://americanmigrainefoundation.orgInternational Headache Society

I havee bad neck pains on the left side of my neck?

Your problem is muscular in nature. More than likely your bad posture combined with a inhospitable sleeping position has pinched or impinged a nerve. Take 400mg of ibuprofen 3 -4 times per day and use a heating pad for 15 minutes 3 times per day. Gentle massage will also help. You should be fine in 2 days.

I have an ear ache, swollen left side of face, painful to move neck, head on left side actue pain?

Don't put anything in your ear and don't listen to any of those answers that tell you it might be this or it might be that. . . some of those answers are pretty scary and probably aren't correct.
Have you taken your temp? Unless you have a raging fever I don't that you have little to be that concerned with.
Until you get in to see a Dr which though uncomfortable I suspect you will make it til Mon. I suggest you use a heat pack on the side of your head that is affected.
Aspirin will help with inflammation and what little fever you have.
You probably just got a good old fasioned ear ache and if it is more than that, there isn't anything you can do til you get in to see a Dr . . . oh all of those alarmists with their answers.

Should I be worried about neck pain and stiffness that doesn't go away?

During our lives, many of us will have neck pain, and most of us won't know exactly what caused it. In fact, neck pain can start from a whole range of causes. The main symptoms are: neck soreness on one or both sides, burning pain, tingling sensations, Stiffness. Pain around your shoulder blades. Pain, numbness, or weakness in your arm. Trouble writing or walking. Headache, Dizziness, blurred vision, Tiredness. The causes of neck pain could be from daily life Stress and emotional tension that cause muscles to tighten and contract, resulting in pain and stiffness. You can sleep wrong and wake up with a crick in your neck. Poor posture, obesity, and weak abdominal muscles often disrupt the spine's balance, causing your neck to bend uncomfortably to compensate.Age-related disorders such as osteoarthritis, spinal stenosis, and degenerative disc disease directly affect the cervical spine. Degenerative disc disease (DDD) can cause the neck pain and arm pain, tingling, and/or numbness. Osteoarthritis is a common joint disorder that causes progressive deterioration of cartilage. Without the cartilage, your bones rub together. The body reacts by forming bone spurs (osteophytes), a self-protection step. However, the bone spurs can press on your nerves, causing neck pain. Spinal stenosis causes the small nerve passageways between the vertebrae to narrow, which can compresses and trap the spinal cord and/or spinal nerve roots. Injury and Accidents: That's right—whiplash. Car accidents are the most common cause of whiplash."So who do you go to? There are as many choices as there are colors in the rainbow. There are a number of distinct physicians within the medical world (including medical doctors and doctors of osteopathy) that you have a choice from. Internists, family physicians, orthopaedists, neurosurgeons, spine surgeons, physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists, neurologists, or you can see a chiropractor or physical therapist".  Personally, I would start with a physician who could prescibe the proper tests to determine the seriousness of your problem.Ref: spinenuro.org and other related sites

Severe Neck pain and sore throat?

You have tight neck muscles causing the pain. As tight muscles look the same as those that aren't your dr. missed the problem. Tight neck muscles can press into your throat with enough pressure to trap your tongue muscle there to make it hard and painful to swallow, your sore throat. The tightening up started on Sunday and just kept getting tighter. The tight muscles are the reason for not being able to turn your head. Freeing up your neck muscles will release the tight ones pressing into your throat and causing your neck problems and here's how to free them up for your relief:
Neck:
Place your hands behind your head so your fingers meet in the middle of your neck. Press into the neck with a moderate pressure and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your head as far as you can, then remove the pressure from the muscles but continue holding your head down for another 30 seconds.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
repeat if needed.
