Sprained Shoulder Or Out Of Place

Sprained shoulder?

Ok so I fell off my horse and went to the doctor and was told I sprained my shoulder. I didn t ride for 5 days (still worked through the pain) and when I first got back to riding still had pain occasionally. It s been about a month and it got better for a while. Lately if I don t move my shoulder for a couple minutes it feels like it s popping and kind of stiff. It s the back of my shoulder closer to my back. Originally I had pain in the back of my shoulder and in my arm a little bit at first and then it got worse. What can I do? Is it still going to keep popping or does it go away? Sometimes when it s popping and stuff it starts to hurt like a dull pain. Thanks!

Chiropractor for sprained shoulder?

So I sprained my shoulder last night, and I just went to the chiropractor. My parents made me, and I don't like chiropractors, so I asked her (politely) to not touch my shoulder because I wanted to go see a doctor. In which she replied, "Chiro means hands and practor means to practice, so that means I'm going to have to, whether you want it or not." Then she started to rub metal tools in the swollen part, which hurt very badly, and I told her and she replied "Good!" I said "What?" And she was like "I am trying to make it worse, so maybeeeeeee your body will respond faster!" Then she put some "magic tape" (a giant bandaid) on my shoulder and told me that it will give me a massage.

Has any of this happened to anyone else? Because she was super nice, but she kinda seemed like a quack....

Can you sprain your shoulder?

You can sprain anything. But its just not very likely to sprain your shoulder. Try making sure it is not popped out of place. Place your hand straight forward in front of you as if you were to point at someone, with your palm faced upwards. Move your whole arm away from your body to where you would keep your body standing still, but just move it next to your side. then bend your elbow and move your arm up, and then sideways real fast. If it is popped out of place, you will know then. (: Trust me. haha. Be careful with it, ice it, and monitor the pain levels :)

I think I dislocated my shoulder?

It was about 3 weeks ago, I had to do swimming in gym so I was just doing the back stroke or whatever when I pulled my arm back it made a seriously loud cracking noise, it sounded like a bunch a bunch of glass being smashed into pieces. My arm locked up and I couldn't move it, so I went to the nurses office and they told me that I pulled a muscle.

I'm just wondering why every time I move my arm, it makes a crack/popping noise and it locks up for a second. I can still move it around and stuff but certain movements make it "pop". Also, this one time I just moved my arm to left, something caught my eye so I looked and I saw a bump rise in my arm and slide over to the right and then it went back down.
I checked my shoulders, the one I hurt is lower than the other.
And my friend tried to massage my shoulder and she said that the one shoulder had a a hard bump in one place but my other one didn't.?

But everyone tells me that its no big deal, and i just pulled a muscle or I shouldn't worry about it. So what's going on here?

How long does it take a shoulder strain to heal?

you may have more than just a shoulder strain that can exacerbate into something else @ this time if you go back to training..the place you should go is the doc, to treat this, & possibly AT to train you back into your sport...& btw, when tissue is injured, incised, cut, abrased, it takes 6 full wks to heal completely from initial injury, if that injury was extensive enough to cause full tissue damage..no telling how bad you strained it (btw, also involves bone when you strain vs sprain), & doesn't tell you if you are allowing it to heal properly (another btw, doesn't take rest to heal), & also doesn't tell you as a lay person to treatment of injuries, if you are in fact reinjuring by the things you are doing to it (& this isn't just sports, but may also include reaching for your toothbrush)...hope this makes sense, but if ya want it to heal correctly, or ya want it to heal on time, & if you want to get back to your sport, ya need a doc, a PT or AT, & the willingness to put in the effort on a daily basis to get this back to square one...most time it will take is 6 wks IF done correctly....good luck!!

How to self-diagnose and treat a shoulder sprain?

You really can't self diagnose this on your own. It may be a simple sprain that may go away in a few days or something more serious like a fracture, rotator cuff tear, labrum tear or separated shoulder. There are just so many things that you may have injured. Your upper back may be stiff due to a strain or muscle spasms and/or muscle guarding due to underlying injury. I am encouraged by you stating that that the pain went away fairly quickly but you can still have something significant going on. I would see a doctor if you are having a lot of pain or not a whole lot better in a few days. Meanwhile ice a few times a day. If your shoulder hurts and you must use your arm, try to keep it below shoulder level but the best thing to do would be to see a doctor. I hope its nothing serious and goes away quickly

Can I pop my puppy's dislocated shoulder back in?

My 4 month old puppy fell off the couch and dislocated her shoulder. She cried a lot at first but after picking her up and taking the pressure off it she stopped. I can't set her down because she flops forward onto her dislocated shoulder and cries again. However, she doesn't yelp or cry when I touch it or pull on it. Can I pop her shoulder back in myself without having to take her to a vet?
