What is GPP unlocked?
These are iPhones which originally were network-locked but through a Chinese chip called "GPP" any SIM card can be used to use the phone. This chip is placed on top of the SIM's gold contacts prior to inserting to the phone. Moreover, through some codes that the user can put in the iPhone any SIM can be used independently without the chip. People will usually call it "semi-factory unlocked". However, once the iPhone has been reset it will be network locked again and the GPP chip should be used to use the phone for any SIM. Semi-factory unlocked (or semi-FU) phones can still receive iOS updates just like the normal iphones, and the installation of the update will not affect the functionality of GPP unlocked iPhones.
My Nexus 5 turns off just by pressing the unlock button when the phone is locked. What is a solution for this?
I am having the similar problem with my N5. Here is the brief on issue :The problem is with the power button and as the power button is attached with the motherboard so permanent solution will be to get the motherboard replaced if under warrantty. Other solution is to get the power button fixed with some local mobile repair shops ( if yor phone is out if warrantty, you can try this )A temporary but semi permanent solution is to avoid the use of power button as far as possible ( I am avoiding it from last 6 months and now use it sometimes to capture screenshot or restart the phone )Now to avoid the power button :1) Use some app which use proximity sensor to lock/unlock device. Best app I came across with was "Gravity".2) Use Nexus 5 cover having feature to lock unlock device by just covering/uncovering the flaps ( I am currently using the flip cover ).So in short :Permanent solution is to get your motherboard replaced ( if under warrantty ) or power button fixed.Temporary solution to use app or flip cover .Hope that helps.
Is the iPhone SE worth buying in 2018, and how long will Apple support the SE?
Excellent questionBear in mind older none supported phones were 32bit.5S devices and newer are all 64bit and while the 5S and 6 have a long way to go, the 6S/SE will be around even longer.Right now I’m writing this on my SE, Iv had the 7, 8 and in November had the XYup. Still got my SE.it’s fast, small and does everything you need and iPhone to do with ios11Cheap and powerful are 2 keywords.Bare in mind the SE is based on the 6 year old iPhone 5. So the SE is starting to show its age in design and screen.Later this year in June there are fresh rumours of an iPhone SE 2No concrete details are around yet but I would predict an oled screen, home button, a10 cpu, 128gb storage again, better cameraSure, it won’t be as good as the 8 or X but that’s the point, the SE is a small cheap alternative to the flagship and if you start whacking in top features then the price will rocketNobody will pay for an SE 2 when you could get the 8 or X - 9 or x2 for $200 more.My advice would be wait for the reveal in June.For now, I love my little SE. I could drop and break this and buy a replacement 10 times for the same cost as an X :)
I am getting an iPhone 7 from USA. Will it work in India?
Phones in the US are more often sold with contract of telcos. These contracted phones are much less expensive than those in the market. But, they are network locked - meaning no other SIM other than that of the contracted network (like Verizon, At&t) will work on it. Thus, these won't accept any Indian SIM cards.Any network locked phone can be unlocked from most local phone shops or just by simple YouTube vidoes. But, there may be the branding and some apps of the original carrier left in your phone. This too can be removed by jailbreaking the iPhone.Another aspect is that, make sure that the phone runs GSM network and NOT CDMA. Currently, only Docomo & BSNL run CDMA and this is quite outdated in India. Also verify it supports the network frequencies (900/1800/2100/2300MHz) available in India.Make sure it's the original iPhone itself and not any clone. A clone appears exactly the same as the original and may even seem to run same iOS initially. But these are cheap Chinese stuff. If you are getting the phone from your friend/relative you can ignore this.Edit4. Warranty - You may not get this. But you can certainly pay and repair at apple service centres in India or purchase one with premium international warranty (apple care+). Do check with apple official site as my knowledge is limited here.

If the device is LOCKED to a particular carrier, you are going to need to rectify that with Straight Talk and Apple first.Second, and this is the tough one, Verizon is NOTORIOUSLY difficult when it comes to activating devices that did not come from them or Apple directly. I had this experience when trying to activate an unlocked iPad Air with them a few years back. It took me about two weeks and ten hours on the phone to finally get them to activate the device, and that was after signing an agreement that basically told me that if I have any problems with the device or the network, I am on my own.
