Squash Tips How To Increase The Strength Of Your Shots

Why did Adam Gilchrist keep a squash ball inside his gloves in the 2007 WC final? How did it help in batting?

Bob Meuleman, the former West Australian cricketer and selector, has been the man behind Gilchrist's batting heroics. It was this man's suggestion to put a squash ball inside Gilly's batting gloves in the final of WC'2007 which proved to be a great decision. It was done to improve Gilly's grip on the bat. It was to stop the bat turning into the hand while making shots. The unusual grip of Gilly on the bat made his hand go too far around the back of his bat. (A squash ball would act a great big lump in your hand but it means that you can only use your bottom hand in a V. It is hard to get around the back of the bat, hence there comes an improved grip.) Gilly was so confused about using it until the match began. He, then, talked to his teammates and decided to take this call.Well, we all know he went on to score a brilliant century which helped Oz win the cup for the third time in a row.

How do I increase my football shooting power?

You can do it by improving shooting technique and by strengthening your leg muscles.Strengthening your leg muscles can be done by these two exercises, these are enough to make your shot powerful.  Leg extension exercise SquartsMuscle power is as important as shooting technique.Do not ignore it In your shooting technique you can follow these simple tips to increase powerLand on your kicking foot after the shot. If you are not getting it then YouTube some videos on this.Keep your follow through short. Try to observe cristiano ronaldo's shots. His follow throughs are very short which provides the speed and power.First of all make sure you know the right technique of your shot.Use the right place of your shoe.In low drives it is the laces of your shoe and in knuckle it is left upper  side of your laces. At last It all depends on the amount of time you are giving to your shooting practice. Practice is must.Try to take 50-100 shots per day

What are the most important training routines for squash players?

Depends on the squash player, where they are in their training, skills, fitness and mental ability.A beginner is well served by playing continuous straight drives, using the correct squash grip.A player needing to improve speed or fitness would benefit from court sprints, 20 sprints, 1 min rest, repeating this as appropriate for current fitness level, perhaps 6 times for somewhat fit juniors, perhaps 15 times for high quality club players. The key to understanding what is most important is to know ones weaknesses and train to make them strengths, or at least improved.Frequently tinning your drop shots? Practice them!Spraying your drive? Practice them.Getting hammered by the return of serve, improve your serving.Given that the questioner is likely looking for a general answer, i suggest...Conditioned games. The right court game, the left court game, the rear court game, the front court game.  In time narrow the target area from half the court, to quarter of the court, to an eighth of the court.Conditioned games are quite fun and give players the opportunity to compete, yet still have high repetition of shots.Solo practice is also incredibly powerful for improving shot quality.  I like this solo practice. Set a target area for each of the following activities.play consecutive forehand drives until achieving 10 bouncing in the area directly behind the service box.repeat on backhand side.move onto high boast feed to then play drop shot, alternating sides, do this until 20 successful drops. Successful means, hitting the defined target area.move onto the T position, hit  shoulder high forehand cross court as the feed, then play a straight backhand volley drop, repeat till 10 successful bh volley drops achieved. change sides.next is a straight drive feed, to play a two wall attacking boast, again achieve 10 successful boasts on both bh and fh.move onto self feed  boast, then play a cross court lob, repeat on both sides again till 10 successful lobs on both sides. There really is no blanket "most important", because each player is an individual, having individual preferences, attitude and style. What type of player does one want to be?

How can i practice badminton indoors, off court, alone at home?

There are many ways to practice badminton when you're off court. First you can do is practicing your swing and strokes with a squash or a training racket. If you don't have either both you can use a normal badminton training racket. Preferably, a heavier racket to improve wrist work and arm strength.

Second, if you have an open space or a garden. You can do shadow and footwork exercises to build your leg endurance in the court and of course improve your footwork. Third, you can do agility exercises which don't really require big space, for fast feet.

Other than that, hitting the wall is a good exercise as well. Try controlling the shuttle around 5 feet at height at the wall. Stand maybe 1.5meter away from the wall. Take the shuttle at the front. Start of slow and then increase the speed and try not to do mistakes, Maybe you can first try hitting against the wall around 500 times practicing both forehand and backhand stroke. This will definitely increase your reflexes and your arm strenght. Another activity you can do, isweight training emphasizing on your wrist and arm strength and legs. Body circuit exercises is okay as well if you dont have weights.

How do I improve my bat swing in cricket?

Thanks for the A2A!Adding to what others have already pointed out very well , I think the following might be of some use to you.The strength for the bat swing comes from your core. Sure , for a few deliveries , it doesn't make a difference. But a strong core and legs definitely help you maintain your shape before , during and after your swing.Bending your knees is another small tactical change that you could try. Observe players like Pietersen and De Villiers. It helps you achieve higher strength and lower center of gravity.Don't hold your bat too tight or too loose. A tight bat constricts the free flow. It could lead to a top edge. A loose bat reduces the control over the ball and you may end up scooping a catch or even lose your bat in the process! The bat swing starts in your legsmoves up to your hips and finishes by travelling through yourarms to the bat.To perform a smooth, quick swing, your entire body should work together.Hope this helped
