Standard Setting Organisation- Not-for-profit Business

How do i start an infomormal non profit organization?

There is no such thing as an "informal" nonprofit.

A nonprofit corporation is a legal entity.
Creating one is a very complex and expensive legal process.
Only an adult can do this.
No, your mommy can not do it for you.

You must file Articles of Incorporation in your home state, verify that the name you choose is available, apply to the IRS for tax exempt status, obtain an EIN, state solicitation license, and sales tax exemption certificate, create a board of directors, elect board officers, establish a place of business, adopt by laws, hold regular board meetings, keep publicly-available minutes of those meetings, and file umpteen financial reports with local, state, and federal government agencies.

That will cost between $1,000 and $2,000, not counting lawyers' fees.

THEN you can begin to collect money for your activities.

If you don't do that, you do not have a nonprofit.
You have a hobby.
And you can go to jail for soliciting without a license.

We can not allow just anyone to collect money from the public and claim they will "give it to poor people".

There are plenty of organizations already doing the work you want.
Find one.
volunteer.

I have been a volunteer, staff, manager, board member, board president, consultant, and lobbyist for nonprofit corporations for 30 years.
I know what I'm talking about.

What are some for-profit charity organizations?

Most for-profit companies exist primarily to generate a profit, that is, to take in more money than it spends. The owners can decide to keep all the profit themselves, or they can spend some or all of it on the business itself. Or, they may decide to share some of it with employees through the use of various types of compensation plans, e.g., employee profit sharing. Two Basic Types of Organizations: For-Profit (Business) and NonprofitHowever, some companies also serve a charitable mission while still being legally organized as a for-profit corporation. Both benefit corporations and Low-profit limited liability companies (L3C) fall under this category. As well as generating a profit, a charitable for-profit entity concentrates on setting a social objective. The business must achieve its social purpose as well as having a profit income if it is to be successful. That being said, the company is still required to pay taxes and any donations made to the company are not tax deductible. Charitable for-profit entity - WikipediaThere are 1,370 L3Cs as of November 2016. (an updated tally can be found at Latest L3C Tally | interSector Partners, L3C)Benefit Corporation status provides legal protection to balance financial and non-financial interests when making decisions—even in a sale scenario or as a publicly traded company. This type of for-profit entity is recognized in 30 US states and Washington DC. What is a Benefit Corporation?Getting certified as a B Corporation is another way that businesses can demonstrate their investment in social/environmental impact. B Corp is a non-legal certification. It is to business what Fair Trade certification is to coffee or USDA Organic certification is to milk. Today, there is a growing community of more than 1,600 Certified B Corps from 42 countries and over 120 industries working together toward 1 unifying goal: to redefine success in business. What are B Corps?

Can a non profit organization give out profit sharing to its employees and members?

As a retirement benefit, surprisingly, yes. This is actually one of the reasons it's not considered proper to call these organizations "non-profit" anymore, as it's misleading. Instead, they're "not-for-profit". If they operate efficiently and are careful in their program expenditures, then they may have enough funds remaining at year end and the ability to spend some of them on administrative expenses like profit sharing.

We have a few not-for-profits that have profit sharing plans as their employee benefit plans. It's not all that uncommon.

Hope that helps. :0)

What is the SIC Code for non-profit organizations?

Check out the long list in the link below. It's probably in group 83. The abbreviation "nec" in the list means "not elsewhere classified".

How do I create a Facebook page for my organization without using my personal account?

This is a misunderstanding of FB's fan page model. When you create a fan page you are establishing (really, you are documenting) a new entity on the graph. That entity will have "administrators" of which you are one, but ultimately it is the entity that "owns" the page not you.If you create a page for a business then the business owns the page.If you create a page for a celebrity then the celebrity owns the page.etc.I've seen plenty of cases where Facebook will remove admins of a page if they are not the official owner - this ensures Christiano Ronaldo controls his fan page and not a fan who has created it on his behalf for example. When you leave your current organisation simply add a colleague as an administrator and ask them to remove you. Problem solved.
