Starcraft 2 Gamers Map Issues

Can you lock the camera in StarCraft 2?

Starcraft is about controlling an ENTIRE army. That means you are making units, instructing workers to construct buildings, controlling your army, and responding to your opponent at the same time. It's one of the reasons I like the game better than LoL

There is a minimap at the left bottom like LoL where you can move the camera around though

What is a better game: Starcraft or Starcraft 2?

It's very hard to define better. In terms of reviews Starcraft reviewed at an average of 88 according to Metacritic while SC2 reviewed at a 93 for Wings of Liberty and 86 for Heart of the Swarm. So they are fairly close in that regard. In terms of technical details, SC2 is miles ahead, just due to the progression of time. It's graphics, AI, map maker and online tools are far superior to SC. Both at the time of their release were the best looking RTS around and both were powerful, but as time passes, SC2 is just the better technical game, but in relation to their time of release, both were ahead of their time.As for campaigns, both are top notch really. Both reak of cliches but enjoy using them, they are cowboys and aliens in space, there are moments of cheesiness and moments of intensity. Both had great cinematics (at the time, SC hasn't aged well in that regard, but not an issue at the time) and fun writing and voice acting. The area SC2 is much better than SC is the mission design. The first game's missions were almost exclusively "defend until you have a max army then attack" while the sequel does a good job of creating a variety of level design with very little overlap in mission goals. When it comes to lasting appeal, both have that in spades. SC and it's expansion pack had a decade long run of dominance, both because of his production value and also because there was no competition for the eSports space until Warcraft 3 came around. SC2 has been out for 5 years and still has the most active RTS fan base and is a top 5 eSport in relation to viewership and prize pools. SC2 may not have the decade of dominance of it's predecessor but due to the decline of the RTS genre and the rise of real competition, something the first game next experienced, I expect SC2 to still be active for a number of years to come. This is made even more likely with the release of the final SC2 expansion coming out Q4 2015 or Q1 2016, which should lend another few years to it's lifetime.Overall I played both, SC as a kid and teenager and SC2 as a college student and family man. Both are great games, personally I enjoy SC2 more since it's a more streamlined game that is easier for casual players to enjoy. I love both, but I personally lean SC2 but that takes nothing away from the original which rightly ranks among the best RTS of all time.

Strategy Games: Is StarCraft the chess of our generation?

Yes. Starcraft continues to evolve into a game that rewards players for executing competent and cohesive strategical decisions, and is at it's best when played 1v1 vs opponents of similar skill. Most of the areas where people see differences are only visible when opponents differ in skill or knowledge of the game; and these same effects can be seen in Chess under those same conditions. There is no need to compare the completeness of information nor the physical exertion required in these games. Players of the same skill know how to get the information needed to form and execute perfect counters in both games. Starcraft is not Poker. You can peek at your opponent's cards, but unlike Chess peeking isn't free. The actions required in Starcraft are not special; they are a part of most people's daily lives in this day and age (point and click, point and drag, type combinations into a keyboard). The dexterity rumored to be required is also grossly overrated -- high APM is rarely a factor in games below the Master or Grandmaster levels. The same can be said for Chess. You would need extraordinary mental dexterity in order to compete at the highest levels of chess. In both Chess and Starcraft, the player with the superior strategy and tactical execution will win. The former has evolved from the latter to include what makes Chess thrilling while adding 3 different types of pieces and the ability to play on different boards.

StarCraft custom map top vs bottom?

you might need to go back and edit it, making sure any tools, buttons...triggers! thats what theyre called...work right. and also make sure to set the map type to custom when you do multi...that made me wanna quit when i realized i was doing it consistently lol. and make sure your starting points are where they should be...sometime they can be a lil screwy also.

Does playing starcraft 2 take a lot of internet usage?

I can play Starcraft 2 while downloading a large game from Steam (done it a few times now) without lagging. I can safely say that SC2 does not require a lot of internet usage to play.

Starcraft: What's the difference between "Free For All" and "Melee" games types?

When playing a custom game against the computer, what is the difference between "Free For All" and "Melee" games types? Is there even a difference? Or is it only different when playing online against other people? Also, is there a way to set up a custom single person game with computer allies? Or only with computer opponents?
It's been years since I've played Starcraft and I don't remember! The instruction book just says, "For more info on these game types, look at our website". And when I went to their website, I didn't see the info I was looking for. Help!
