State Collect Child Support Confused

I asked a question about child support?

some people misunderstood of what state i live in. I live in Texas, and in this state it is not required by state law to have D.N.A test prior to recieving child support. My question was are you for or aginst this law? And why? I myself am not in the child support system in any way...I am just asking our fellow texans what they think of this law being passed....

Another Question but about child support?

Paying Child Support In Two States, same child...help?

My question involves child support in the State of:

Colorado/Kansas & Texas...

(This is really screwed up, but this is whats going on and I don't know what to do to stop it, ANY advice you can give me will be beneficial and I thank you in advance)

THIS WHOLE POST IS FOR ONE CHILD ONLY

Basically my ex lived in Colorado, this is where the ORIGINAL SUPPORT ORDER was issued and i was paying child support to when things were "normal"...

My Ex then moved to Texas...so for some reason Colorado then turned the case over to Kansas where I live now...

Kansas/Colorado is still charging me for child support
AND
Texas also has been charging me with child support...

The balances for both keep going up the same amount EVERY month for the SAME ONE CHILD, but oddly enough they are different amounts for this same child... ??? ....

For one child I am making payments to Kansas & Texas for over a year now!! How is this legally possible and what can I do about it and get my money put in the correct place. Please help as I have kids and a wife in my home and its very hard to take care of them if that extra money is just being put "somewhere" especially this time of year...and shouldn't I be able to get back what I have paid to Texas OR Colorado since I am paying TWO states for ONE child...

Is it possible that my childs mother maybe didn't report to the prior state she resided in that she moved out of state and is basically collecting two payments for the same child?

I don't know if this matters or not, but I am married and have two children (not related to my ex) in my home full time....Please, Please any advice??

:: CONFUSED::

If a child dies, does child support continue?

If it is being garnished from the wages of the person responsible for the payments and paid through a second party ,say the state, then child support payments will continue until the payer files a motion to end the support. This can take months. The payee will be responsible for the return of over payment from the time of the child's death. The payee can, however, file a motion in the court to make the payer responsible for some of the funeral arrangements as well as burial expenses. But then the support is cut off.

Colorado State Tax Offset Notice? - VERY confused.?

What is this? I was put in jail in Colorado 3 years ago and all of my fines were paid up front. I just got a State Tax Offset Notice stating that I owe them $344.00

The notice states: Our records indicate outstanding debts owed the State of Colorado on the account above. Be advised that Colorado Revised Statutes 24-30-202.4 and 39-21-108(3)(a)(i) all to the State be deducted of offset from a taxpayer's Colorado State income tax return. If you feel the need to discuss this matter please call us at "###" or "###" ((** I'm not putting the numbers in)).

You may dispute the tax offset for this debt by submitting a written Tax Offset hearing request. The purpose of the hearing is not to discuss the validity of the debt, determine the State's ability to offset your tax refund to pay towards the debt. Please include a copy of this and the reason for the hearing within 30 days of the postmark date on the envelope.

This confuses me because I have never lived in Colorado, I only spent a week or so in jail in Colorado. I've researched it and it is hard for me to understand what is going on... Anyone have any idea?

What happens if I lose my job and I am unable to pay child support?

If you are the non-custodial parent, you will need to petition the courts for a modification and hope they grant it. You will still need to look for a job because even if they grant the modification, it will only reduce the obligation, not eliminate it.The interesting thing about child support is that both parents’ income is considered in it's calculation. Even though the non-custodial parent is the one that actually has a “payment”, it is assumed that the custodial parent is contributing as well. However, if you are the custodial parent, even though your financial situation is taken into consideration during the calculation, you have zero legal obligation to pay one penny out of pocket. In fact, if the support was calculated while you were earning income, and now you are not, you may be able to petition the courts and get an increase in the amount of child support paid to you. What all of this means is, even though your financial situation has changed dramatically, if the custodial parent's income has decreased as well, you may petition for a reduction but end up with a higher payment than you had before.Regardless of the outcome of the above steps, if you fail to pay, they can suspend your license, ruin your credit, and possibly jail you depending on the situation.
