Has that Gap advertisement been driving you nuts ?

I presented the same question yesterday. It was driving me absolutely batty! I turned the speakers off, only because I wanted to smack those people. I don't care what they do for Christmas, I do care that they are dumping jet fuel into the ocean.

How do I remove "contextual ads by worldadmarketplace"?

Try malwarebytes to clean up your system:

Don't let the battalions of external parasites into your system in the first place:
stop these guys @ your 'doorstep' & keep 'em out, & these steps will help:

Use this feature to block unwanted advertising re-direct:
With NS running, down on the far right corner is a blue 'S' with a red line through it: right click that> tick 'forbid -------' &/or mark as 'untrusted'.
(Ticking all may reduce interactive behavior; enable just enough to get what's necessary)

Server based spy/adware, that tracks your surfing & builds a profile of your surfing with advertising conglomerate jackals: requires "Opt Out"...
Yahoo here: http://info.yahoo.com/relevantads/
Google here: http://www.google.com/privacy_ads.html
NAI garbage here: http://networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.asp
DoubleClick poison here: http://www.doubleclick.com/privacy/dart_adserving.aspx

SpywareBlaster for system wide, realtime protection:

Turn off 'spell check' may help, as this sends keystrokes back to the server also, which may be used to 'target' advertising.

Good luck. :)

What is the best way to block all the ads Yahoo displays on your page and in your email now?

If u use chrome get adblock by getadblock.com or from the chrome store (it's free)

How do I stop unwanted ads in my browser?

Um...you don't have an ad problem. You have a virus most likely done when you go to unsafe sites...which are many or you opened a bad email and it spilled its contents to your computer...there are of course ways to check, and remove viruses if you don't have anti virus software than I suggest you get some. And if you're on a budget then AVG is a great antivirus program free to download and offers the best protection without blowing lots of money for a one year license. Avg should pick up if something isn't right, and will eliminate it. If you choose to pay for anti virus software get Norton it's the best as far as paid software goes and get the free Norton extension for chrome. If the anti virus software doesn't find or solve it then either look for more help and can be found on avg's or nortons websites they have guides and docs on viruses...hope this helps you get going! And one last thing clear cache in your browser settings...

Are articles in yahoo labeled Sponsored fake Articles leading to infomercials?

"Sponsored" is just that, a third party is paying for that article to be on the page and often designed in a manner that most would call click bait. Usually taking the viewer to a non Yahoo hosted site and many times the attempted sale of a product. This is slightly different than the ads that are posted on the right side of the page which most people are fully aware are advertisements. Most websites are setup with a revenue stream to pay for the service they provide. In the case of Yahoo their main stream of revenue (for free content articles) is through advertising. What seems to have transpired though with Yahoo and many other "news" sites is that advertising and content become conflated with their news stream and are not labeled as "Sponsored". For example, every couple of days there were varying articles about Costco (they seem to have about 5 or so they recycle often only by changing the headline). They have never been labeled as "sponsored" but if you viewed the page every day for a month it would be painfully obvious the articles are the same. One can't help but then draw the conclusion that they are being paid for that. Star Wars stories for a while were repeated with the same frequency even though the next stated release date of the film was in excess of 18 months out. If they are being compensated to run these article I have no problem with it but they need to be labeled as such. Yahoo isn't the only offender, many sites including YouTube postings that do ratings (top 10's) and reviews on products but that is not reported to the viewer/reader. All it would take is a five second statement telling the audience of potential conflicts of interest. Amazon at least requires this from any reviewer that gets a special deal but as a whole it clearly influences the overall ratings. This is how things become labeled fake news and the value of a story or review declines significantly or at the least warrants further investigation. Unfortunately many people (particularly the older generation) don’t realize this is going on. I mean how many people would think that a review of the top items would sponsored if it didn’t say so, anymore you have to assume it is unless explicitly stated.
