What is stomach bug and stomach flu?

Both are same. The former is a slang people use like blood work for blood tests. However, its called Viral gastroenteritis in medical language, and is an infection that can cause diarrhea and vomiting. It happens when a person's stomach and intestines get infected with a virus (Hence bug like in software bug). Both adults and children can get viral gastroenteritis.People can get the infection if they:●Touch an infected person or a surface with the virus on it, and then don't wash their hands●Eat foods or drink liquids with the virus in them. If people with the virus don't wash their hands, they can spread it to food or liquids they touch. What are the symptoms of viral gastroenteritis? — The infection causes diarrhea and vomiting. People can have either diarrhea or vomiting, or both. These symptoms usually start suddenly, and can be severe.Viral gastroenteritis can also cause:●A fever●A headache or muscle aches●Belly pain or cramping●A loss of appetiteIf you have diarrhea and vomiting, your body can lose too much water. Doctors call this "dehydration." Dehydration can make you have dark yellow urine and feel thirsty, tired, dizzy, or confused.Severe dehydration can be life-threatening. Babies, young children, and elderly people are more likely to get severe dehydration.Wish it helps.

I have had this stomach flu for 4 days?

Get to an ER. They will not refuse you because of insurance. There is medication you can take that will keep you from neaseousness and vomiting that is much better than pepto bismol, but its perscription.

I think 4 days is a typical time frame, and you say you are feeling better so i wouldn't worry. Rest and you will be better.

Stay away from dairy products. Try eating rice and toast. White rice, plain. Try driving juices also. What kind of solid foods are you eating?

Go slow with eating but don't dehyrate yourself. Even if you are vomiting what you eat, you need to stay hydrated. It's important!

Best of luck I am hoping you will feel better soon!

Do Zanatc help with stomach viruses?

Ok so thanks in advance. But I started taking zantac last night because I have been under a lot of stress which flairs up my anxiety problems. I have anxiety problems because I have a fear of the stomach flu. So the stress/anxiety causes my stomach to hurt and its different pain everyday. I am taking it every 12 hours. I have been feeling better since I took it, but I am scared of the stomach flu, like I said. So if I took this and I had the stomach flu would it keep me from feeling bad or throwing up?
I did take this years ago when I was 9 for a few months because I has severe stomach pain from stress since I was being bullied very badly at school that I wasn't eating at all. So the doctor put me on this. Just so you know I am 15 now.
Thanks so much!!!

How can you avoid throwing up when you have stomach flu?

First, there is no such thing as “Stomach Flu” . The word Flu is short for influenza, which is a respiratory disease. It is very difficult to prevent vomiting when you have gastroenteritis (which literally means an inflammation (itis) of your stomach (gastro) and intestines (entero) ).Anti nausea medications can help when you have vomiting to the point it is affecting your ability to keep hydrated or to eat. When you have vomiting, you want ease back into eating. Eating small amounts of food frequently may help. Eat bland, easy-to-digest foods, such as soda crackers, toast, gelatin, bananas, rice and chicken.

Is it OK to eat ramen when you have the stomach flu?

Whenever you have gastroenteritis for any reason, your digestive lining is irritated and needs a rest to heal and deal with the infection if there is one. Best bet is to start with clear liquids and see how that goes. Next step if clear liquids work ok is to slowly introduce Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast (BRAT).BRAT isn’t gospel, though— these are just foods most people find easy to digest, but maybe you don’t find that, and there’s another food item you find works well and is comforting. If ramen is on that list for you, then by all means try a bit and see how it goes.Generally it’s better to stay away from foods high in fat or protein, as most people find these the most challenging to digest. Avoid eating too much, and don’t feel you need to eat when you don’t feel like it— you won’t starve in the short term, as most people’s bodies have a significant reservoir of stored food energy to tide them over for a few days.

Is it okay to eat pho when you have the stomach flu?

If you can keep it down? Sure. “Hot broth and noodles and foods that are gentle on the stomach” is perfectly fine. I wouldn’t go for spicy pho when you’re nauseous, though; that’s going to be a bit rough on your system.
