Strange Pink Worms Found In Cricket Cage

How long for a lizard (house gecko) to die of starvation?

Well. If you’re from the Indian subcontinent, the M̶i̶d̶d̶l̶e̶ ̶E̶a̶r̶t̶h̶ Middle East, or North Africa, you’d probably be referring to Hemidactylus flaviviridis or H. frenatus. If you’re European (or for that matter American), it’d probably be H. turcicus. For Southeast Asians, it would mostly be Gekko gecko (the tokay/tucktoo) or H. frenatus, while sub-Saharan Africans would be referring to H. mabouia (except Malagasys, who’d be thinking of the lovely lizards of the Phelsuma genus). Finally, here in South India, geckos of the genus Cnemaspis are also referred to as ‘house geckos’. Having stated all this, I can tell you that I have handled several Hemidactylus and Cnemaspis species that occur locally here, as well as some Phelsuma species that I found while on tour in Madagascar. However, Hemidactylus are the only ones I’ve kept for an extended period of time. So, I can tell you that they are pretty hardy when it comes to going without food. As my bio states, my colleague and I had to look after them while doing experiments on them. We had to catch insects in order to feed them and I had planned to feed them every other day (or twice every five days). However, the monsoon here put paid to our insect collecting, as we were looking to catch things like crickets, grasshoppers, and the like, none of which emerged during rain. So, we ended up feeding them only twice during a period of two weeks. including a six-day run without food. We were frankly a little worried, but our guide told us that they can comfortably survive for two weeks without any food. Sure enough, on the day our experiments concluded and we had to release them, they were skittering up the tree with no sign of fatigue. I’d wager they could go for over two weeks without food, maybe three. But this is assuming they have free access to water during those three weeks. Without water, they’d be dead pretty quickly.Hope this helped.

What are the most interesting non-humanoid alien concepts in science fiction?

Fantastic Planet, a French/Czechoslovakian cutout animation from 1973. Winner of the Special Jury Prize at Cannes the same year. It was based upon the French science-fiction novel Oms en Serie by Stefan Wul. I have been desperate to find an English version of this book, so please write to me if you have any leads. This nameless planet is ruled by the Draags, a race of blue-skinned giants with longer lifespans than humans. The humans, known as Oms (derived from french 'hommes', human) are divided into two groups: the domestic Oms treated as pets by the Draags, and the savage Oms who hide in the wild and scavenge food. The story never explains how Oms came to the planet, but there is a discussion in which the Draags theorize by studying prehistoric artifacts on our homeworld that we Oms were technologically advanced. Of course, this theory is in minority and most Draags see humans as nothing more than animals. My guess is that humanity's civilization somehow destroyed itself and were brought later to the Draag planet, either intentionally as pets or as stoways on their spacecraft (similar to rats). The movie has a very surreal design, the work of artist Roland Topor. Here are some images from the Draag planet. The Draag 'parliament' I suppose, where citizens listen to leaders discuss vital issues. Two Draag couples participate in some meditative activity in which their bodies somehow dissolve and blend into different shapes.A creature that somehow spends it's entire life in a cage-like tree. It uses the tentacular nose to catch prey. In the morning, these crystals somehow spread like weeds. They shatter when exposed to high-pitch sounds, like whistling. The main character defends himself during a duel in which two worm-like creatures are attached to the duelists. And finally, we find out that during their meditation, the Draag participate in some intergalactic ritual in which their consciousness momentarily possess these stone statues. To be honest, I still don't really understand what is going on in this scene...It may be hard for some to appreciate this movie, but I think it is one of the most unique animated films ever made in terms of style and design.

What is something you have seen that most people haven’t?

Most peoples never see the joy, pleasure, dignity in own as well as other’s life.A duck crying over the loss of her babies (the creatures that you were taught to think of as “low-lives, dumb animals” & non-sentient beings). Also, many people hate cops today. So they also fail to see what cops really can be . Ask yourself, How many of you would even bother getting involved in such charity/rescue works/get your hands dirty? Very unlikely!A loyal & thankful penguin just found a father in this lovely old man. It keeps visiting it’s savoir every year. Most people these-days don't even have the courtesy to give a “thanks”, if you help them. Worse! help someone & he/she starts thinking “you being desperate!”.An idiot horse crying over its master’s death. Who else can be more loyal & selfless lover? Very few! Even your modern-parents don’t love you as much. A pet doesn’t care if you are poor, jobless, illiterate, autistic, failed in exams/life, handicapped or whatever. You remain the “eternal you” (to these idiotic, low IQ, worthless animals).Still, these innocent creatures are brutally murdered without least amount of compassion, mercy & respect —just becausethey can’t scream in your languageyou can’t get over your petty lustyou have no respect for their livesyou never saw the joy in saving others livesthey are low IQ/idiotic, they can’t be as evil, cunning & treacherous like humansyou believe you are at top of the food chain & have the rights to keep destroying others, without sense. You fail to realizeIn OT, humans are given modern anesthesia, so that humans don’t feel a thing. When it comes to them, nobody cares a damn thing! Some cultures are just only more savage than others. If a species with 7billion+ population (& growing) wants to become top-most predator, it will have to go against nature/destroy itself! (directly or indirectly)Nature never intended primates to be topmost predators. But most still choose to be rogue, stubborn & egoistic— again, because most people don't see the meaning of “loving own & other’s life”.
