Strange Swelling Above Belly Button

Crooked belly button piercing!?

Let's see.. you are complaining about a fresh piercing that is swollen, in an area that takes between 6 months and a year to fully heal up.....You're a winner.

Understand that you piercing is BRAND NEW, ANGRY, AND SWOLLEN. You piercing can be perfectly straight and appear crooked due to swelling. It can also appear deeper than it actually is due to the swelling.

Now, as the body tends to heal asymmetrically, you will notice your piercing seems to move during the healing process. It may lay one one side, it may seem to move forward at the top or bottom, it may seem to lean the other way. This is normal as the tissue heals and the swelling goes down. Remember, the navel is /not/ a very vascular area. This means it will take a decent amount of time to heal, usually 6 months to over a year to be completely healed.

If you are 100% certain that it's completely crooked and you hate it or are convinced that it's a big deal, go back to your piercer and you can have it repierced, or just take it out.

Pain and Swelling above belly button?

Starting 2 nights ago i noticed a little pain right above my naval. Over the past few days it has gradually gotten worse. It is made worse by getting up or down. too much movement, laying in a certain position, and it is tender to the touch. This morning I woke up and noticed it is starting to swell a little, usually i can fit my pinky inside my belly button but it is swollen that i cannot, also pushing on the area it is sort of hard to touch. I don't see any visible deformities, and it doesn't hurt on the right side of my abdomen. Can anybody tell me what it might be!?!

Swollen Skin Around My Belly Button Ring?

I just got my belly button pierced about a week ago. I'm not sure if this is normal or not but the skin is swollen AROUND the top ball on my belly ring. I was wondering if this was a normal part of the healing process or if something is wrong?

What could cause a bump on your belly button piercing?

The bump is caused by your body trying to reject the piercing. Having a metal belly button ring isn't natural and your body has no idea what it is. It's first reaction is to protect itself by getting rid of the piercing and healing itself. The bump is your body's reaction and it's way of closing the hole. It is completely normal and isn't a cause for concern. I never had any problems with my belly button ring, but I know some people who's body rejected the piercing and pushed the jewelry out. Keep cleaning it and twisting the piercing around so it doesn't stick to your skin as it heals. Also don't mess with it unless you are cleaning it because it could get infected and that will make it more likely for your body to reject it. If it doesn't go away after a few weeks or if it gets bigger, go back to the tattoo shop where you got it done and see what they think about it. Sometimes they will recommend a cream to put on it or they might tell you that you need to take it out and try and get it pierced again later.

Is my belly button piercing too high?(pictures) PLEASE HELP!?

Ok, well i got my B.B pierced about 3 months ago. Well from the get go i thought it was too high. now that the swelling has gone down i can clearly see that this isnt how a piercing should look. If i am not mistaken i think it should go THROUGH the belly button. but mine doesnt. Well now my belly button is rejecting. I am CRUSHED. i absolutely love it and it will kill me to take it out but i know i have to.
My question is do you think it rejected because it was pierced incorrectly?(i took GREAT care of it, and i am not allergic to any metals because i have my ears pierced 7 times)
there is verry little skin holding the belly button in place so will it leave a bad scar?
can i get it repierced? If i can how long do you think i should wait?
Will it stay in better the second time?
I am going back to the piercer tomorrow to complain and try to get my money back. After that i am going to sadly take it out :(
Please try to help me out!
Pictures below! ( i know it looks red and weird it has looked like that every since i got it done)

My bellybutton piercing thinned out?!?

Belly button piercing is a surface piercings and all surface piercings have a high rejection rate.

A piercing can start to reject days or even years after you got it done. Our body for x reasons does not recognize the jewelry as a part of it and starts to push it out completely.
Rejection does not hurt at all and it's really difficult to identify it on time and remove the jewelry.
As rejection is progressing you start to see the jewelry underneath the skin. This is at the last stages and you will get a scar if you remove it.

The sooner you take out a rejected piercing the less the scarring will be. Piercings in general do not leave scars but rejected ones do and they can be nasty.

If you can't tell it's rejecting for sure go back to your piercer or any other professional piercer ( piercing studio ) to take a look at it. He will be able to tell.

You can't stop rejecting at any case. If a piercing started to reject there's nothing you can do to stop it and you need to remove the jewelry asap , wait a few months and re-pierce if you want to give it a second try.

I've had more than 30 piercings so far and surface ones are my favorites. As you can imagine I've experienced rejection a few times in the past. My eyebrow piercing rejected after 4 years, re-pierced and rejected again within days.

What can trigger rejection : Heavy jewelry, a lot of movement in the area, if you accidentally hit it or caught it on things, sleeping on the piercing.

Even if take good care of a piercing it can still reject. It's a risk we are taking when we do surface piercings.

p.s. No it does not hurt more if you re-pierce. Going through scar tissue will hurt at about the same or even less.
The more you wait to re-pierce and best the chances of the new piercing to stay put and not reject again.

NOSE PIERCING swelling, help wanted?!?

Its been nearly a month since i got my nose pierced(on the right side only).

Its n't very painful but, the left side of my nose is swelling directly opposite of my piercing. When i take my piercing out there's white goo coming out of. I'm really freaked out and worried, cuz it might be normal for the nose piercing to swell, but i pierce on one side and selling on both sides thats freaking weird. I thought it would go away in a while but it only seems to get bigger and worse, should i let go of my piercing, cause thats what many pple are telling me to do. But i don't want....

Clear sticky liquid that crystallizes in belly button? and flakey/skin on ear?

I'm not quite sure how to explain this, but I accidentally scratched some skin from the inside of my belly button and now there's a strange sticky liquid that sort of crystallizes over time? Should I be concerned about this? What is this called? Also, for a long time now, the place where glasses hand over on the ear has been flaking. Every time I scratch off the flakes/skin looking thing, it waters and more grows back. Is this similar to my belly button? How can I treat these problems?
