I want to study abroad, but I do not have enough money. What can I do?

You can apply for a scholarship …I'm from india and I didn't have any money with me when decided to study abroad . After a long search for some scholarships I found so many chances all over the world . I didn't have money and time to prepare for IELTS or any other English proficiency exams. So I couldn't apply for a number of scholarships . But I found Turkey govt. Scholarship (Home - Türkiye Bursları )doesn't need that kind of exams and it's application system is very easy . So I applied for this scholarship . After one month they sent me a message that my application was successful and they invited me for an interview in Delhi. I went there alone after borrowing some money from friends (it's like 2000km away from my home). The interview was very easy for me . After one and half month that beautiful news came to my email .. I was just jumping and dancing when I see that… then I got visa and flight ticket for free ..and ..yup ..now I'm in Turkey… I'm getting a scholarship of 250$ every month besides the food ,accommodation and health insurance. I'm studying well…. Yea . Even poor can study wherever if he have academic caliber.. my dream is studying masters degree in Oxford or Cambridge university. I will study hard until I get a scholarship to study in the no. 1 unv. In the world..In nutshell, you can study anything anywhere if you really want to do it… good luckFind the best scholarship for you from this website https://goo.gl/MwNvxs

Why is my financial aid taking so long, am I going to be denied?

Well FA been screwed up this year for all students, I am in my last year of college and every year before this year went smoothly but there is some big transition the governement has been working on since July, they are not using banks anymore to loan they are paying you directly so with the transition in the middle of the year is screwing up everybodies accounts. I am still waiting on my Loans that was supposed to post back in July so your not alone. I am so pissed, on the phone with them now been waiting for over an hr.

What of financial aid can I get with a L2 visa?

Since you hold an L-2 US visa that means you are either the child or spouse of someone who holds an L-1 US visa.
Source: http://faq.visapro.com/L2-Visa-FAQ2.asp

That means you are not a US citizen nor are you a legal resident alien (holding a "green card") which would make you eligible to apply for Federal (US government) student aid. That does mean if you are a spouse of an L-1 visa holder you can obtain employment authorization from the US Citizenship and Immigration Services offices so you may work at a paying job. If you are a dependent child of an L-1 visa holder you cannot apply for US employment authorization, so you cannot work at a paying job (to earn money to help pay for your college and university expenses.)

At the community college you will probably be ruled a non-resident/out-of-district student and will have to pay the higher school tuition/course fees. That will also be true at UC Davis, you will have to pay the higher tuition of an out-of-state/non-resident student.

There are some scholarships and grants that an international student, such as yourself may be eligible for. (See #2 below.)

1. Check with the De Anza College Office of International Student Programs first.
* http://www.deanza.edu/international/
This is the link to the Contact Us information for the office, so you can telephone or go in-person and talk with a real person there:
* http://www.deanza.edu/international/cont...
They may have some suggestions regarding grants or scholarships.

2. eduPass.org has some information you may find useful.

I think you will get the best advice by talking with the people at De Anza College. I hope you enjoy your time in the USA and your educational experiences.

Unsolicited advice:
Please realize that your success in college will be dependent upon your learning how to research your questions properly (your campus reference librarians will be your friends in this once you are on campus) and by knowing which departments/offices you need to go to and talk with real people regarding what you need to know.

Please can someone answer my question. this is like my 3rd or 4th time asking this question because everyone is posting how to get a loan for hundreds of thousands of dollars when all i really need to know is if they are going to hold my funds over or not. i cant get in touch with my financial aid advisor to ask this question :(

Going back to school at 33 Years old...?

I completed my first grad degree at 27 and my second grad degree at 38. I am now a faculty instructor teaching in a college that targets specifically the older, mature, and working adult among others.

There are numerous programs that are based online, on the weekend, or otherwise take about 10 hours per week of study and class time which with the right initiative will allow you to work and cointinue your life without a problem.

I would especially recommend some of the online schools. Many of these offer a series of classes towards a degree with everyone done online including access to the library and chatting with other students.

Having taught more than 500 students in a college online setting; all of whom worked full time jobs; I can say that as long as you adequately schedule yourself, make time for yourself (non work and school time) and have a serious goal in mind that will lead to something you've always want to do, that will be enough incentive to get you through.

there are some online programs geared to the freshman and new college student. There are others that will transfer existing college credits.

Hope that helps.
