Studying Criminology Minor At University

Can I major in business and minor in criminology?

Im not very familiar with how universities work? But theres two things I would want to be in life, a businessman(accountant,CEO) or a police officer(detective, chief). I think criminology would be neat to study and would help me get promoted if I did join the force. However I don't want to decide I dont want to be a cop anymore and be stuck with a criminology degree.
I'm just wondering pretty much if you always get to minor in something in a business program, because I would like to become a chartered accountant and I know they have a very specific course outline.

Whats a good minor for criminology?

Most Criminology/Criminal Justice students incorporate either Sociology, or Psychology in a double-major, or major/minor scenario. Both of those fields of study provide you with a look at people. Sociology focusing more on the people and there society and how it can drive them to do certain things. Psychology more along the lines of what is going on in their heads and what made them do it.

I’m going to have a major in psychology and a minor in criminology. Which laptop would best fit my studies?

You’ll be doing a lot of writing, so one that has a good keyboard. Also, invest in voice dictation program-Dragon NaturallySpeaking for Windows, or Dragon Dictate for Mac. You talk and it types for you. The newest version can transcribe a lecture, too, so you don’t have to take notes. This is me. I use Dragon Medical (am a nurse) and it understands medical vocabulary, which is a step beyond what the consumer edition can do.

Criminology in Rutgers?

I think you can major in criminal justice at Rutgers. I think you can minor in criminology. Getting a college degree is one of the best things that you can do if you want to become a police officer. Many people that want to become police officers choose criminal justice or something similar as their college major. However, many people suggest choosing a different major. You should learn enough about criminal justice during the police academy, during your field training, and during your first couple years on the job. You should choose a major that interests you, that is marketable, and that could also be useful for police work. There are many good majors for police officers and people that want to become police officers. Accounting, communications, computer science, a foreign language, forensic science, and psychology are some examples. Whatever major you choose, make the most of your time and money while in college. Get the highest grade point average that you can, participate in a couple extracurricular activities, get a good internship, do some regular volunteer work, don't do anything illegal, and maintain a good reputation. Best of luck!

How do I get funding for post graduate studies in criminology or security studies in England?

I have no idea about funding for post graduate studies in England. Here in the USA , it either through students loan or scholarships from the intended institutions and through Graduate degree fellowship scholarships.

Major in criminology?

I'm planning on majoring in criminology in my university but am worried about whether or not I will be able to find a job after school. What careers do you think I could have with a bachelors in criminology, and do you think it would be impossible for me to land a job?

Major in Psychology Minor in Criminology Or Vise Versa?

I would opt for a major in psychology. There will likely be a strong research component required in jobs as an analyst for the FBI, and psychology is more likely to offer multivariate stats and research methods, both of which often differentiate between grad students in their hiring potential.

Criminology will more holistic in its field of study, so a minor should provide a nice overview. Good luck!

What can I do with a major in psychology and a minor in criminology or criminal justice?

I think Mater in Psychology would facilitate achieve your goal. I think the major achievement in psychology cannot be precisely restricted by definition. However, it all is pertinent to social and community services. But I would quite laudatorily agree with you (considering it one of the major achievements in psychology) to counsel the criminals already in jails and juveniles so that REPETITION of the crime(s) is totally eliminated from their minds and they leave the jail, upon completion of their sentences, with clean-slated mind. And minor in criminology would be mass awareness of people never to ignore importance of seriousness of the petty and/or smallest crimes, which ultimately lead to be courageous of committing bigger crimes. This thing could catagorically be elaborated for inclusion in the text of appropriate school level for awareness of the group of children expected to be capable of comprehending its importance. It could contribute help a peaceful society in the country.
Wish you all the best and every success in achieving your very nobal goal.

What does studying engineering involve?

Here is what my engineering degrees involved:Year 1Classes like Intro to Engineering, Calculus for Engineers, Chemistry, Physics, and some fun electives (Photography).  As part of the Intro to Engineering class we built robots and learned about the engineering degrees offered at my University (this is when I discovered Welding Engineering).Summer Job: RetailYear 2More advanced Math, Physics, Chemistry.  Industrial Engineering class where we did some fun design projects.  Decided to get a minor in Criminology and took some sociology classes.  Also took Horse Back Riding.Summer Job: Intern at HondaYear 3Serious major related classes: Metallurgy, Metal Welding Classes (I learned I have no aptitude for manual arc welding), Engineering Ethics.  I chose to take technical electives in Polymer Welding.  I also took Ice Skating (still have the scar) and mid-level Criminology classes.Summer Job: Intern at Babcock and WilcoxYear 4Wrapping up major classes, we had to do a major senior project (spot welding of aluminum), finished up last Criminology minor classes, and I started my Master's mid year (plastic welding).  Time for extra fun courses dwindles to zero.Summer Job: Research Assistent at my University (i.e. Thesis Work)MastersTook classes in biomedical engineering, materials science engineering, and worked on combined ultrasonic and laser embossing of high aspect ratio micro-channels in polycarbonate for use with micro-electro-mechanical devices (i.e. lab-on-a-chip) for my thesis.First Real Job: Application Engineer at Dukane Corporation (manufacturer of plastic welding equipment) - my graduate advisor was asked if he knew of someone for the job

Can I study criminology/international relations at UCB or UCLA while in NJROTC or any other military program?

Yes. ROTC programs do not restrict your major to certain choices. They might encourage certain majors that reflect their needs, however. Criminology and international relations would both be good majors. But I know people who went through ROTC with majors in things like Economics, Mathematics, and French.
