Subwoofer amp question?

Need more info buddy, specs of system, woofers, amp etc. Ive got a Pioneer pm80mp 60w x 4 head with Alpine 1200w amp and custom built Vibe 12" 1500w Sub with 3 turbo ports.. Sounds mental and would blow my windows if turned up higher than a third. Id get rid of your 2 300w subs and buy a decent single sub with a good wattage. Look on ebay, youd easily get a custom built box like mine for 30-40 quid. Remember the better the box, the better the bass. Get some good fuses though as they will POP!.

Help with kenwood subwoofer/ jl amp question?

Should be not too bad, just keep in mind that you are powering them at less then Half of their capacity, so it might not be as loud as you'd expect until you upgrade the amp..

Box wise, the guy above me needs to mention that bandpass boxes are loud and the frequency levels that they are restricted to.. If you want more range go ported. They're already loud when built correctly

Dumb subwoofer wiring question?

I am looking to get a soundstream xta1050.2 amp. My subs are Dual voice coil, 300W rms. Can I run this setup with a 4 ohm load, in stereo. All the wiring diagrams I see, either are running at 2 ohms, or are 4ohm and bridged. This amp is too powerful at 2 ohm.

Subwoofer Question: My amp is getting hot?

as for the amp getting hot, that part of the question has already been answered, and its normal, especially if you're underpowering the subs. the subs are trying to draw as much power as possible, so the amp has to work extremely hard to try to meet that demand and will heat up. as for the cutting out part, it can only work that hard for so long then has to shut off and cool down for a little bit. if its cutting out without going into protect mode, then pretty likely its a power supply problem. your car can also only put out so much power by itself. i'm not sure if this is when its cutting out, but if it is, a simple cap should fix your problem. i hate it when people suggest changing my whole system, but in this case you might just need to go up to a bigger amp... hope this helps!!

Some General Car Subwoofer and Amplifier Vocabulary Questions.?

1. An amplifier that isn't bridged simply uses the wattage that is displayed on the specs. for the amp. When the amplifier is bridged, a channel is sacrifieced on the amp, losing a channel but pushing that channel's power to the primary channel that you will be using. (Taking the second channel's power and transfering it to the first.)

2. A 2 ohm setting is nothing more than a stronger load for an amplifier to push, therefore making the subwoofer exert a more powerful sound. A 4 ohm setting just isn't as powerful.

3. Yes, two subwoofers can be hooked up to a monoblock amplifier. You must wire the subwoofers in SERIES, or wiring them together so that the amplifier thinks it is one big subwoofer. (It is completely safe, and it often used by car audio enthusists because it exerts a more powerful sound, by locking the RMS wattage to only one channel.)

Subwoofers:

1. The RMS wattage is the wattage that the subwoofer can safely remain at without stressing or abusing the speaker. The RMS for your subs should about match up with your amp in order to make for a solid, safe sound.

2. An ohm is a power exertion that can be exponentially powerful. (Most home theatre speakers are 16 ohm, others are 8 ohm, some car audio subs are 4 ohm, and others are 2 ohm.) The lower the ohms, the more powerful the speaker. Google "Ohm's Law."

Hope that helps, let me know if you have any questions.
