Why do people hate the live action Transformers movies?

To add to what’s already been posted, Michael Bay and his style of filmmaking are a great punching bag for film critics, bloggers, and FB users, especially since he admitted to not being a fan when he was first approached for the first film. But when you look into what it was he tried to accomplish with the look of the Transformers, I believe he did a terrific job of making them look as un-cartoon-like as possible. Granted, the second film was a mess, but even he admits that he would never make a movie like that again since it was a casualty of the Writers Guild strike. The next two movies were much closer in spirit to the first one, and Age of Extinction did a great job of expanding the mythology that they’re trying to establish in this franchise, which has more than enough nods to the G1 animated series and even the Marvel comic series that was parallel to the show so many of us grew up loving. Sure, AOE isn’t perfect (I would love preferred if Bay shaved ten minutes off the Chicago sequence after Prime is freed and lose the magnet sequence altogether during the last act), but if Bay-haters actually sit down and watch it, they’ll realize that a lot of their critiques were addressed.

Aaah, Transformer movies. Those wonders of nature.Some time ago, I went to a friend’s house to study. However, we soon turned the TV on. ���Hey, they’re playing Transformers! Let’s watch it!”So we watched it. I couldn’t have spent those two hours better.The plot was awful. The characters were awful. And the whole movie was plagued with cold war propaganda, before ending with a fight between American-Looking-Robot-Truck-thingy and a red robot that said communist-sounding sentences here and there without reason.It was beautiful. We commented every stupid detail of the movie, making fun of everything, from the crappy dialog to the poor acting. My ribs and face ended up hurting from excessive laugh.Since then, every time I see a transformers movie on TV, I watch it. Same happens with Spiderman 3.So, why do people enjoy transformers? One possible reason is the one I just told: it’s pretty darn funny. However, not everything is as bad as I said it was: the CGI was quite good.And sometimes people don’t really want to watch a movie about Marie Curie, for example (though I’m really looking forward to that one), with interesting plot, drama, soundtrack…Sometimes, people just want to go to the cinema and watch two huge robots destroying each other on a twenty meter screen with huge loudspeekers.Ah, happiness…

Is it wrong to go and watch a movie alone?

Let's see, you are spending a considerable amount of money to just have one time viewing of a movie. If you truly are up there to watch a movie, the last thing you'll need is somebody who continuously is bugging you. So hell yes, there isn't anything wrong about watching a movie. For me, movies are meant to be watched alone, and if somebody is tagging along, he should not be bugging me at all.I've seen a lot of movies, mostly English, alone, due to a variable number of reasons, like lousy friends not agreeing to go the distance for a movie being shown in a theatre far away, or inability to find companions who would spend money for English (they'd rather watch it in poorly dubbed Hindi, or a pirated 360p 3gp version). So I can tell you there's nothing weird with watching a movie alone. I've seen folks who come together but hardly talk to each other while the movie runs. Same is the situation when you are alone. Nobody finds it awkward, nobody even notices it. If somebody does find himself being pinned by eyes, it is probably due to either something wrong at the back of one's dress, or an acute case of assuming the world is centered on him/her.But again, if you're not into the movie for appreciating it's content, let's say for a slapstick comedy or a Bollywood family drama, then there are chances you won't go at all, because yes, who watches them, unless it's a friends or family outing and somebody has dragged you in. The other kind of people who watch shitty films in theatres are also alone. You know kinda two-in-one alone, at the corner seats, not watching the movie at all. Be like them, focus on what you are in for, not how it looks to others.Happy viewing .
