What's so great about bass fishing?

I personally do get tired of catching the same thing all the time. I was fortunate enough to be able to have a home near an area that offers me a wide variety of fishing...Salt, Brackish and Fresh. I pick a different fish every time I go out. I will not even attempt to catch anything else even if it means not catching anything all day. I do this for the sake of keeping "on my toes" and not getting bogged down by one species.I also learn a lot from the experience and it helps to make me a better Angler. I can relate to your question as well, every show is about people on boats doing their thing. I'd like to see some shore fishing shows or wading shows more often.
That's my 2 cents.~good luck catchin'.

Why do people like fishing?

Fishing is serene, its a battle, fishing is peaceful and patience all rolled into one day on the water.Whether you are spending time with friends and family, or you are weird and fishing alone by yourself—like I do- to hunt the elusive trout, variety comes to you in all forms of fishing. We as humans love a battle, we love peace, most of all to gain pleasure in life, we need variety and nothing offers variety better than fishing. From the different lakes, streams, fresh water and salt water fish, the people you meet of all ethnicity, you get perfect variety. There is a sense of serenity when the sun hits your body and warms your core, when you hear the stream trickling down the mountain as you maneuver your line around the banks.Crack! The Bite is on. Patience still until that hook is ready to be set, then, snap! You fiercely raise your rod to set the hook, the battle is on. Man against fish, be it out of starvation or sport. You have to be precise, you must pay complete attention to the task at hand, any wrong move and the fish gets away. Finally, the fish is at your feet, ready to be put on the stringer. The adrenaline still pumping, subsiding.Peace once again. It’s about variety.Get out there and fish, don’t tell PETA.ParkerStructure Fishing Will Make or Break a Day On The Lake » EasyKasting.comPS You have my permission to share this writing with others who want to know about fishing.

Is it safe to eat saltwater catfish? If so, what are some good recipes?

If you're talking about gafftop catfish (large sail like spike on their dorsal fin) the answer is that you can eat them. Be sure the water is clean and not polluted because they will take all of that stuff in them. Also, be *very* careful when skinning them because that top sail fin contains a protective p0ison.  It will definitely hurt if it sticks you.  It could require medical attention.     None of that affects the taste of the fish. Be sure to cut the dark lateral line (common in many larger fish) out because it can affect taste.  Try to use fish that are 5-15 pounds so you can get some nice thick steaks for grilling with lime and teriyaki on top of tin foil. That keeps the fish from burning or sticking to the grill. You can also put the fish on the 'cool' end of a grill so it doesn't scorch the meat.  From there, it's all yours. Courtbuillion is a good tomato based recipe as well as any other seafood fish recipe that you run across.  The meat is textured and firm which is perfect for cooking.     Have fun, eh?

What types of string can you put in the oven?

I assume you mean, using sting to tie up food. The best is “ cooking string “ sometimes called “butcher’s string” which you can buy in different gauges. However, any string made of natural fibers ( such as cotton ) will work. Be sure there are no additives in the string, that can be transferred to your food. I once bought cotton string, which had on the label- “ Contains ingredients known to cause cancer- not sold in California “. Do not use any artificial string as this will often times melt. ( you can use the “flame test” - natural fibers will smolder, artificial will ball up)

Do you need a fishing license to catch sand/mole crabs in California?

I live up in northern California (Humboldt Country) and while I was at the beach today I started catching some sand/mole crabs with my hands. I would just catch them and then let them go, but it got me thinking about if I could eat them. So after I got home and did some research I found some recipes for them and I thought it might be fun to try.

I don't have a fishing license, and I get figure out if you need one to catch sand crabs. I've looked on CA fish and wildlife website and found some info about other crabs you need fishing licenses for but I can't find a concrete answer on whether you need a fishing licensing to catch sand crabs. Thanks!

Homemade freshwater largemouth bass bait recipes?

I've been fishing in this pond by my house for 2 years, and the fish in it are extremely stubborn and picky. The only thing i've really had luck with is hot dogs, but they've learned to stay away. So long story short, i need some homemade bass bait recipes that aren't expensive and have been tested by actual fisherman like me.

Are redear sunfish good for eating?

They are delicious. Scale them, remove the head and entrails, wash them off, dip them in buttermilk or an egg-milk mix, shake them in a bag filled with 1/2 flour and 1/2 cornmeal, then deep fry. They are kind of small so you will need several.

How to make secret 7 catfish bait?

Why do people say tilapia isn't a good fish to eat? What about this fish makes it so bad?

Tilapia, in and of itself, has no particularly great advantages or disadvantages. As stated, it’s a popular fish because it has very mild flavor, which is highly desired by some people who want to eat fish for health reasons, but do not like “fishy” smelling or tasting fish. For the same reason, there are many people who loathe it, because they feel it doesn’t taste like anything at all.The problem with tilapia in general is that the market for it consists almost entirely of farm-raised fish, and there are a number of legitimate concerns about farmed fish. They are bred and raised in very dense populations, which causes stress and can lead to diseases.Because of this elevated risk of disease, farmers dose them with antibiotics and other chemicals/medicines to suppress the diseases. The broadcast method of applying these medicines is contributing to antibiotic- and medicine-resistant organisms like bacteria and parasites. They are also generally fed a diet based on corn or other grains, or animal waste and by-products, which are not part of their natural diet. This tends to mean that their nutritional composition is probably not as good as a wild specimen of the same fish.If you eat fish occasionally, and choose tilapia, then the benefits probably outweigh the risks. However, if your diet consists largely of farmed tilapia (or any farmed fish, for that matter), you might want to do your own research and consider whether or not you want to be consuming all of the chemicals that have been absorbed by the fish as part of the aquaculture processes, and whether you agree that the nutrition is the same as wild fish.
