Suggest Me Tv Shows That Has Psychopaths Character

Character who is a psychopath?

Im writing a short story about a psychopath. Psychopaths are great manipulators and are always seeking out people they can use to their own benefit. They often use flattery and lies to get what they want. In my story there needs to be dialogue between a psychopath and their victim, where the psycho is manipulating them but not in an obvious way. Would you mind coming up with a dialogue that shows this happening? Just so I can use it as a reference? Seeing an example would helpful before I start practicing on my own.

Are there any psychopaths in movies, books, TV shows, etc., that aren't being portrayed as villains or bad guys? If so, can you list them down?

Dexter is the first example which sprung to mind.  I can't easily put my finger on many others with the same level of character development, production value etc - and its multi-award-winning status is testament to these, despite the subject matter and abnormal nature of the protagonist: List of awards and nominations received by Dexter (TV series)Personally, the character also resonated with me when it came to his struggles with human interaction, and understanding nuance and irrational behaviour (for which neurotypical humans are well-known).  No, I'm not a psychopath, as far as I'm aware - just on the ASD spectrum ;)  It's an intelligently written drama which highlights not only the unique struggles of someone in Dexter's position as a serial killer (psychologically and logistically), but also maps to 'normal' tribulations and pressures of family, work relations, fatherhood, and seeking one's own identity and path in life. Now, Dexter would not meet the entire PCL-R (see: Psychopathy Checklist), but depending on how literal your meaning of the word, he's got to be one of the foremost protagonists in modern cinema/TV history to which the average layperson would apply the label of 'psychopath'.

Is Dexter Morgan from the TV show "Dexter" a psychopath?

Dexter isn't a sociopath or psychopath. He has PTSD from a trauma, which led him to develop depersonalisation, he has blocked feelings, and a subconscious urge to recreate and try to internalise the memory he burried when he wasn't ready to handle it emotionally. A lot of people with depersonalisation who watch this show will instantly resonate with his struggle. Of course it doesn't mean that people who have depersonalisation would kill someone, because in Dexters case is a very specific and rare scenario, where his foster father Harry misinterprets his reaction to that trauma, and Dexter grows up believing he has no emotions, he's a monster, and eternally recreating his trauma is the only way to survive, later he starts getting better. So his personality in that very special context, is actually quite realistic and logical. I grew up having my whole life depersonalisation and I often have similar monologues, going through similar struggle and I'm trying to connect with myself to be able to feel what I know I feel, at one point, before I knew about depersonalisation, I believed I might be empty, senseless, evil maybe, but when I have seen other people that didn't have any feelings for real, something didn't match. Same is the case with Dexter, compared to his victims, he has consciousness, they don't. And that's why you think he's a “good psychopath”, such thing doesn't exist, he's just a rare case of depersonalisation

What is the best TV show about a psychopath?

There are none. All of the “psychopaths” demonstrated on television are very poor amalgamations of stereotype and imagination. If you are looking for information on psychopaths, read from the experts like James Fallon and Kevin Dutton. All television does is push terrible information in poorly written story lines. And for the record, not even the show creators would say that Dexter is a psychopath. They say he is a sociopath, and he is not even that. He’s just a myth. Hannibal is even worse. An entertaining show, sure, but by no means a psychopath.

Psychology: My favorite movies/TV series characters are psychopaths/sociopaths like Dexter, Hannibal Lecter, Elliot (Mr. Robot). Is there anything wrong with me?

Hello friend. There is nothing wrong with liking Dexter or Hannibal as favorite characters. I, too, am a huge fan of Dexter. ( Finished watching the series a month ago ). In general, I watch only crime based TV series ( Castle, The Mentalist, Criminal Minds, Prison Break etc etc). I watch these shows not only for entertainment but, I also feel that each episode has some definite purpose, say, catching a killer or unearthing some secret. And the more you watch these shows, it is natural that you get emotionally involved and actually start caring for the characters.I, for one, rooted for Dexter, even though rationally I knew that what he was doing was legally very wrong. On a personal level, it does not affect my daily life. Even though I watch so much of violence and negativity on screen, I am still the same person as I was about two years ago.In conclusion, I would say that it will not affect you negatively unless you allow it to.Hope this helps!!!

Who are some cool psychopath characters in film and television?

Some interesting psychopath characters in filmAlex DeLarge by Malcolm McDowell in A Clockwork Orange:A superb portrayal of a very disturbing  character. Health Ledger had confessed to base his Joker on the same.Kevin by ElijahWood in Sin City:Bilbo turns psycho. Lack of character makes Kevin even more horrific, the way he gets killed stands out the most.Stuntman Mike by Kurt Russell in Dealth Proof:When someone like Quentin Tarantino wants to make b-grade film which is solely carried by the customary banter (read dialogue) and Kurt Russell. The climax being the highlight of the movie.Alonzo Harris by Denzel Washington in Training DayWhile its debatable if Alonzo was a psycho, this is one of the best performances by Denzel. (Fetched him an Oscar beating Russel Crowe in Beautiful Mind)A few more roles which are already pointed outDr. Hannibal Lecter by Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs"I do wish we could chat longer, but... I'm having an old friend for dinner. Bye."John Doe by Kevin Spacey in Se7en:Jean-Baptiste Grenouille by Ben Whishaw in Perfume:

Is the main character from the tv show 'Dexter' a sociopath or psychopath?

Watch the show and see what you think. The people he kills are criminals who have somehow gotten loose or not been prosecuted or imprisioned for thier violent crimes. In some ways he is a hero, like Batman, a dark character who uses his special abilities to rid the world of bad people.

Its a great show and gets better as it goes on. Well written, edgy, and full of psychology and moral questions. I don't want to ruin it for you, so I won't say more, but its good. One of the best shows made by a tv station in a long, long time.
Its worth getting Showtime once you watch it. Not sure when the new season starts, but you will get addicted!

How accurate is "Killing Eve" in terms of psychopathy (compared to most TV shows featuring "psychopathic characters")?

Watching ‘Killing Eve’ has been a delight. It’s charming, amusing, quirky and thoughtful. The writer/producer has done a very good job of presenting strong women characters generally in this series, let alone Villanelle. In terms of psychopathy, and having watched enormous quantities of TV series and movies, it’s very accurate. Not, particularly, her occupation, but her dark-humoured and childlike quirkiness. The callous and prosaic dialogue she comes out with is very on target:F: “Are you going to kill me?” V: “Yes.” F: “But I have children!” V: I don’t want your children” F: “No, I mean I have to look after them!” V: “They will see it as a bonding experience”.LOLHer emotional intelligence [or lack thereof] as she exchanges childish insults with a teenager girl she’s kidnapped, is spot on, culminating in this little gem:V: “Stick out your thumb out and look vulnerable” I: “I’m a child; I am vulnerable!” Villanelle looks at Irena in surprise…… 8-)Such are the behaviours when no emotional weight is attached to anything. And in this series, that’s painted with a very light touch.Villanelle - very accurate. Irena - a teenage one in the making. Eve - with some psychopathic traits, (and unaware) those becoming more expressed due to her fascination with Villanelle. Like is intrigued by like.
