Sunius Infection Help Going To Florida

Left ear is clogged, due to sinus infection. HELP?

I've had a sinus infection and have completed a Z-pack. Everything is better except my ear, it isn't hurting but it is so clogged I can barely hear. I've tried olive oil, and hydrogen peroxide. Any other recommendations would be appreciated! It's driving me crazy .

I washed my nose out with tap water, am I going to die from infection?

It’s been about a week and if you are still alive or not drooling on yourself then probably not. I do a nasal douche twice a day from fall to spring and it works wonders for me. I used to get colds that would morph into bronchitis and all kinds of stuff making 1–3 months of winter miserable until a Russian doctor told me about this. Mix a little sea salt in warm water and flush your nasal passages. The salt kills the ishy stuff and the water keeps the nasal passages wet rather than letting them dry out and act like a giant open wound.I know you are supposed to use sterile or distilled water but don’t have the time to wait for it to warm up so I just use our bathroom sink water straight from the tap that comes from the 77 foot well.River or swamp water then I'd be worried. But tap water not really. Even use hotel water when traveling…sometimes I can really taste/smell the bleach but I soldier on. And those that I have told about this and actually do it have called me praising how effective it is. Those hat say, “Oh no. I’m not putting water up my nose” just continue to get sick. They have the neti pots but for $18 you can get a squeeze bottle kit with premixed packets that you just add to water. I have two, one for home and one when I travel.

Sinus or Fungal Infection?

I get about 3-4 sinus infections a year. I had a deviated septum fixed via surgery when I was 18 and I am now 23. Usually after a month or two I go to the docs to get antibiotics but this time it is different. In february I started a course of augmentin (2000mg amoxacilin daily) for 20 days but the symptoms did not improve. Then I got prescribed prednisone from my ENT specialist. Then I got prescribed levaquin for 10 days still nothing... My symptoms are: all day dull headache, unable to focus, and extreme fatigue. My specialist looked up my sinus from my throat and saw drainage from the ethmoid sinuses so there is something going on. Once I got put on Levaquin my symptoms worsened and now I have congestion and thick mucous buildup in my nose and throat.

My question is do you think this may be a non-invasive fungal infection because the drugs arent working? I read that chronic sinitus may be linked to fungus. Thank you for any help in advance =)

PS: I take allegra daily, rhinocort, and I neti pot daily so allergies are essentially not in question.

Is it possible to have a sinus infection and an ear infection at the same time?

I have had chronic sinus infections around this time of year for about 3 years now (usually about 5-6 times per spring season). Of course I just have to have another one now, but my ear is hurting too which is weird. That has never happened to me before. It feels like an ear infection but could it just be a strange symptom? I stayed home from school today without my mom knowing and she is going to take me to the doctor later. I just want to know what to tell him/her. So, do I have a sinus infection and an ear infection, or just a sinus infection?
Sorry if theres not enough info. Ask questions and I will try to give you more info.

Can wearing earplugs for too long give me an infection?

There are 2 types od ear infections. Inner ear-from colds allergies etc. And outer or "swimmers"ear infections. Ear plug use can contribute to outer ear infections by rubbing the skin in the ear canal raw and causing an opening for bacteria. They will NOT however lead to inner ear, sinus type infections.

Tetracycline is good for sinus infection?

tetracycline is a broad Spectrum antibiotic so yes it will help with a sinus infection

Are antibiotics necessary to clear up sinus and ear infections?

I had problems for years with this but about10 years ago a friend made me lay down and put hydrogen peroxide in my ears---two time a day for a couple days should work and it also took care of the sinus infections although i dont know why--pour just a small capful pour in your ear and lay down--about 10 minutes or when the bubbles have almost stopped--ive never used nose sprays or cold meds again--however i do take a visteril ( benadryl) 1 a day and any time i feel one coming on i do this and it stops mmediatly--no q-tips!!
