Suspended Wrote Up The Employees Saying I Was Stupid Called Names

Why has my husband stopped calling and writing me from prison?

I know you're going to hate this answer, but there is no way to know for sure. I say that as someone who also has a husband in prison. I have known this special brand of agony myself. There are a few possibilities that I can think of. They vary in likelihood depending on his location/custody risk, his personality, the amount of money he has on his books, and so on.One. Something happened on the inside (a murder, something serious like that) and he is unable to call because the prison is “locked down” meaning there is no recreational time and all inmates are confined to their cells all day.Two. He's on Loss of Privileges or maybe even in solitary for having a run-in with disciplinary.Three. He's out of money on his phone account.Four. He has developed or resumed an active drug addiction, and he's out of money and has traded his pens/paper/stamps/envelopes for drugs.Five. He's depressed. He is worried sick all the time and it's difficult for him to do his time like that. He opens his eyes every single morning in prison. It's a miserable place to be. Trying to think of things to write only serves to intensify this.Six. You've stopped writing him? So he's “on strike” in a sense?Seven. He's become “affiliated” (with a gang) - I don't know much about this because my husband isn't, and so what I “know” about it is all stuff I've heard third hand, and it's difficult to separate what's true and what's false when you're dealing with hearsay. But I've heard that they tend to detach themselves from family if their family isn't also involved with their, like, whatever they do in there on the low. Their hustle, I guess.Eight. He may be writing you and the mail is just suuuuuuuper slow for whatever reason. Maybe there's a new mail and property officer who doesn't like him, or they're extremely disorganized. That's all I can really think of. The good news is that since you're his wife, you're entitled to know what's going on with him. Just call the prison and bug the guards about it. You might get passed around a bit, they might try giving you the runaround, but be persistent (and polite!) and eventually you'll get ahold of that one guard who stays 20 minutes after the end of their shift to dig through files for any information they have on him. If they don't have anything, then that rules out #1, #2, and maybe #8.Good luck! Don't give up.

My stupid boss can't remember my name after a year of working there...What is going on?

I wouldn't call this racist, just ignorant, there is a difference. Society is conditioned to put us all in one category, such that, all you need to know about this person is what is commonly believed by most non-black people (i.e. stereotypes). As a result, people often think of individual black people as black before they go into further detail, such as name, gender, age, etc.

Stereotyping is a form of mental shortcut that people employ to conserve brain energy for things they instinctively feel is more important. You can imagine what the effect is when most stereotypes are negative, which is a source of continued frustration for me and many like me, like yourself too. Also stereotyping is something that is used by people when they know nothing about a person. For a white person, it is not enough to label the person as white because from their perspective, too many people are white to remember anybody, so they have to go into more detail like name, age, gender, etc. As a result of going into more detail, they know more about a person and are able to develop a closer connection.

In your situation, I would bring this up with your boss in a peaceful manner and give him an opportunity to know you better. I guarantee he will remember your name more often, but ignorance will always come into play. Try not to let this get to you afterwords, it's not worth losing a good job if this is the only annoyance.

Another non-racial example of this is a friend of mine who is best friends with one of my best friends. Often when I would hang out with him, he would accidently call me my my best friends name and he would make the same mistake with my best friend. We pretty much do the same things with him when hanging out, so it is natural for him to make this mistake.

CVS suspended an employee?

So I work for CVS and had to be a witness while our Head LP manager pulled in another girl. He basically said that she had been accepting coupons for items and manually entering the coupon and said it caused a $6,750 loss to the company which she needs to pay back. She had to sign an agreement saying she would pay it back (without anyone other than me the witness present) as well as answer written questions such as "'are you sorry for what you did? Are you aware its unlawful" etc. He asked her if he knew if any employees were stealing. (isn't that LP's job not hers?) She is currently on suspension until further notice. Ive never heard of CVS suspending an employee over silly coupons. And I've never heard of anyone having to pay CVS back. Better question. Why did managers/LP let it rack up that much before telling her? What are her options?

A Man called me niggy ? what does it mean? Was he insulting me? He caught me shoplifting.?

Yesterday i was stopped by a prevention loss officer at a supermarket in newyork longisland.. He told me to accompany him to the office and accused me of shoplifting.
There was another employee there ( she was african american)
This man was either mexican or hawain looking.. tanned skin , dark eyes, roundish face and sort of mexican or oriental looking.
I am pakistani , a 30 year old female, i have brown eyes and black hair.
I understand him accusing me or talking loudly to me.. He was doing his job. He didnt frisk me .
But he did say to me.. Why did you do it niggy? Why did you steal from me
What does niggy mean?
He got me arrested ( handcuffed fingerprinted)and now i have a court date 9 for petit larceny , petty larceny)..
Should i hire a lawyer and tell him this?.
or if i dont hire a lawyer , do i bring it up in front of the judge in court?.

I got suspended from school for no reason.... do you think I should've?

So today at lunch this one kid threw his lunch all over another boy and they started punching each other and everyone was yelling "FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT" I was walking out from the lunch line and walked right by the kids in the fight and the princeple comes just as I walking by and (I had the lunch tray in my hand) hes like "Excuse me? what are you doing with the food?" and I'm like "Eating it..." and he's like "Go throw it away and come back over here" and I was to scared to talk back so I go and throw it away and come back and the princeples like "she was getting the food to throw at me! she was the one that started this fight!" and the princeple takes me to his office and says a bunch of things and i'm like "I promise I didn't do anything" and hes like "I don't belive your suspended for 2 days, I'm calling your mother to pick to pick you up" My mom believed me but the princeple doesn't, she tried emiailing him but it didn't work.
So do you think I should've gotten suspended? any ideas to mak the princeple belive me?

Is calling someone by his/her first name a form of sexual harassment?

No, it seems to me that it is very common for people, especially a boss, to use a first name. S/he probably thinks it is perfectly acceptable.

However, if there are other non-verbal signs and unwanted attention, there could still be sexual harrassment. Does she/he make you feel uncomfortable? Do you feel that the boss is making unspoken suggestions or trying to find out if you'd be willing to get personal? Does he (let's face it, it's usually a he) try to get you alone?

In my experience, if someone feels uncomfortable or feels like the boss wants something other than work, they are often right. Don't be paranoid but also follow your instincts and make it perfectly clear in every way that you expect respect and proper behaviour. Don't be afraid to say no or walk away. You deserve that respect and nothing is worth putting up with sexual harassment.

Is it rude to pee in front of customers at work?

My friend is a cashier at Target and it got busy. She's not supposed to leave her spot when they're swamped, so she peed herself to spite everyone. Was that rude?
