Suspension From College

I'm on my first academic suspension in college what do i do, and is my life ruined?

YOU BETTER GET FOCUSED!

You better take an "easy" class to get your GPA up. (I don't know if one exists, take art or intro to poetry).

You paid a lot of money to get in for tuition and books. So, don't waste it.

Or get some cardboard and marker, stand next to freeway exits and wait for drivers to roll down their windows to give you their spare change.

THINK ABOUT IT!

How do you write an appeal letter after a college suspension?

The only right way to write this kind of letter is by explaining everything and being honest: tell your story. State your current situation: emphasize facts that prove how your current situation differs from the one you had when you were suspended. But another important thing to remember: avoid using cliches and buzzwords. It’s always better to tell your real story as people relate to people. You should show that your understand your problems, have learnt a lesson out of them and have a plan for future. Another good thing is to show that you take full responsibility and deal with consequences well. Here’s a nice sample of appeal letter:Learn more about this topic here: Writing a Letter for Readmission to a CollegeGood luck!

Does a suspension in college ruin one's life?

How about calling the "registration office" at the college to inquire about whether or not the suspension will show up on the transcript. Perhaps the student can transfer to another school if that's the case or if that particular school doesn't suit the individual.

Perhaps the "office of student assistance" (or may be a slightly different name such as "office of student services") can talk to the student who has such a concern. There should be viable options for students who are struggling while in college (or with personal issues).

Just in case, for anyone who is feeling suicidal, here is a toll-free 24/7 helpline to talk to someone: 1-800-273-TALK (8255).

Do colleges look at suspensions on your school record?

I was wondering the same thing recently. I had an issue in middle school in which I had received disciplinary action, though I had nothing in high school. If your college is using the Common Application, then they will definitely ask about your high school record. The exact question asks:“Have you ever been found responsible for a disciplinary violation at any educational institution you have attended from the 9th grade (or the international equivalent) forward, whether related to academic misconduct or behavioral misconduct, that resulted in a disciplinary action? These actions could include, but are not limited to: probation, suspension, removal, dismissal, or expulsion from the institution”It will also ask if you have been found guilty of a misdemeanor or felony. If you have had high school disciplinary issues- including a suspension- they will look at that, and it’s in your best interest to own up to it and try to explain how you’ve changed since then. The same applies to any criminal record (however, you are not required to include anything that a judge has ruled to keep private. But you are not going to have issues with middle school or elementary school.

Is it possible to get suspended in college?

Yes, definitely. If you smoke weed, drink without a 'wet room' certificate, damage property, etc. you can easily be suspended. But, suspensions in college usually aren't your typical "3-day out-of-school suspension". They're more like month-long suspensions..

Can you still live in a dorm if you got suspended from college for a year?

Ms. Smile,
You by God must be a freshman. Maybe a freshman that flunked enough classes to be put on academic suspension for a whole year? Or something where the college said take some time and grow up- then give it another whirl, maybe? huh? Maybe you want to hide out and not tell your parents about this for a year. Look, it's a hard lesson but there is no living in the dorms if you are not an active student. What do you think that would be like? You sleeping in for a year hanging out in your PJ's and playing a lot of video games while you wait for the seasons to pass. Wow!
Here is your answer. NO! No living in the dorms while on suspension. Get a job. Get an apartment. Learn how life can really suck if you don't get an education, I mean imagine being a waitress until you are sixty-five. Now quit goofing off and grow up!
