Switching Pokemon So Here On Your Team

What is a good 3v3 pokemon team?

Hi there, me and some friends will be having a pokemon 3v3 tournament soon and i'm stuck for team ideas. I would love to hear some of your ideas on what a good team would be, there are some restrictions however:

Rules:
- Each trainer may enter up to two teams of three pokemon.
- The teams may not include legendaries, pseudo-legendaries or 'battle frontier' pokemon. For the full list see below.
- There will be no substitutions allowed at any point.
- The items Life Orb and Light Ball are banned from this competition.
- If a trainer breaks any rules then they will immediately be ejected from the tournament (both teams). They will be allowed the right to appeal the decision.
- Fourth generation pokemon only please; it will get too confusing otherwise.
- You may, if you wish, ask for a battle advisor up to, and including, the quarter final matches.
- All battles will be capped at level 50 to ensure a fair challenge.

Banned Pokemon:
All Legendarys (including roaming)
Dragonite
Tyrannitar
Salamence
Metagross
Garchomp
Togekiss
Lucario
Milotic
Spiritomb

I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to pokemon and so i'm not sure about the more advanced side of carefully assembling a team.

Thanks all!

Should I use Shedinja in my team? and if yes, which pokemon do I switch for it?

the reason why I'm not using any particualrily strong pokemon is because I'm only battling my cousins, and they say its cheating if I use my level 100 pokemon (giratina, Blaziken, heatran, torterra, Venusaur, and Marshtomp)

so I'm trying to build a team that can beat the without exactly being lvl 100

What Pokemon can you put on any team?

It depends on how you define ‘team.’ Are you playing in game? Are you playing VGC or on showdown? If you are playing in game, then a HM slave is likely a good option for you (obviously this is for generation prior to sun and moon) Bibarel for example has access to Cut, Dig, Surf, Rock Climb, Covet/Thief, Strength, Waterfall, Rock Smash, Dive.If you are playing competitively here are a few good options for you.Lando-TScizorClefableChanseyRotom-WashFerrothornMagearnaGreninjaThese pokemon have a lot of pros and very few cons. For example Scizor does well on both rain and sand teams, same with Ferrothorn. All of the pokemon on the list above have very few weakness and several resistances. This makes them easy to throw on a team that needs to be patched up. Additionally they are exceptional at specific niches, some have a wide range of move sets that make it hard for your opponent to predict which attack is coming next or whether they are a physical or special attacker.

What would your team be if you were a Pokemon Elite Four Member (moves, purpose on team, everything)? What types would you use?

Firstly I'm going all out. The hardest elite four ever. Stopping all in my path and who dare challenge my might. So I'm going all out Fire types!Volcarona: Bulky stall and damage purposes! Powerful attacks like quiver dance, fiery dance, bug buzz and giga drain all day. Plus hurts strong psychic types and dark types as well!Next up I'm using the one and only talonflame: Fast damaging and crazy strong. Brave bird, Flare blitz,U-Turn and Roost for daysNext on my team is darmanitan: Attacker but with slower speed. Hit's like a tank on steroids...if that's possible. Moves: Hammer arm, Flare Blitz, Zen Headbutt and U-Turn.Next on my team is Magmortar: Thunderbolt (for water types),Flamethrower,Psychic and cross chop everything to death! Finally on my team would be( Since everyone wannem!) CHARIZARD!:Role is murder with a charizard X item it will kill. Moves: Dragon Claw, Shadow Claw, Flamethrower and finally metal claw. I strongly feel with this team I'd be a threat to be reconned with and good luck passin me!So good luck passing me, I'd be hard, bulky and murderous all at the same time!

What is a good competitive pokemon team?

What pokemon do you have on your team? What makes it so successful? Have you ever won any tournaments? What are some other tips to making a good team?

Thanks to all who answer!

What's your ideal Pokémon team?

Y E SI love this question. Now I've been a GameFreak Fan forever, my favorite storyline has to be Johto, after playing that game and only being able to afford that game for a while until I was able to get Hoenn and Sinnoh, I used to know the movesets of my favorite Pokemon like the back of my hand. So on my Pearl, I have my boxes filled with Pokemon based by types per box, with different Pokemon on each of them. I actually just found the game again so I can take picturesLet me show you the hours prior to me stopping that part of my life that I may revive.I was feared down in Miami…Feared.Ok now back to the topicKnowing thay I learned everything from IV to egg breeding I had 2 boxes listed as TEAM for my different combo breakers, even me imagining myself as a Miami Gym Leader if you were tryna grade your talents. My 3 team lineup barely for knocked out from the battle tower till I stopped playing after a year. But the teams went as followedFire FlameInfernapeArcanineHoundoomBlazikenCharizardFlareonSince I've Nerded myself out, their movesets where one of each types, that was for all of my teams, I need at least one STAB bonusTeam DarkUmbreonLucarioInfernapeGarchompWeavileTyranitarSame description aboveDrippinWetFeraligatrBlastooseEmpoleonVaporeonSwampertSuicuneI could go on and on…Edit: Ima go onSpeedDemonJolteonInfernapeStaraptorStarmieSceptile6th one coulda been at least 12 different Pokemon. This was a nasty team man.DefenseModeMiloticUmbreonNinetailsBlastoiseMetagrossLast one, anyone from Blissy,Shuckle, etcI could list maybe 10 - 40 more combinations, I had a different lineup for a different feeling, I was a damn PokéDiva.Just wish I didn't listen to the people I listened to, woulda won so many tourneys instead of doing shit I hated…That was fun to talk about

What do you think of this pokemon team? Salamence, Lucario, Torterra, Arcanine, Milotic, Tyranitar? Also need moves and evs?

You’ve got a really nice team with diverse types and good stats. Here are some moves that you might like to consider using if you don’t use TMs:

Salamence (dragon and flying type): Fly (flying type), Dragon Claw(dragon type), Double-Edge(normal type), Dragon Tail(dragon type)

Lucario (fighting and steel type)(for Lucario I will have to suggest a TM because he doesn’t learn any great steel type moves otherwise): Flash Cannon (steel type) (TM91), Aura Sphere, Close Combat, Heal Pulse (for healing)

Torterra(grass and ground type): Earthquake(ground type), Giga Drain(grass type) (for healing and doing damage at the same time), Crunch (dark type), Leaf Storm (grass type)

Arcanine (fire type)(consider evolving growlithe into arcanine after level 34 for Flamethrower, because arcanine doesn’t learn anymore good fire type moves by leveling after you evolve it): Strength (normal type)(HM04), Fire Fang(fire type), Flame Burst(fire type), Flamethrower(fire type)

Milotic (water type): Rain dance (water type)(to enhance water type moves), Hydro Pump(water type), Aqua Ring(water type) (for healing purposes), Surf (water type)(HM03)

Tyranitar (rock and dark type): Rock slide (rock type), Crunch (dark type), Earthquake (ground type move) , and Stone Edge (rock type)

To be perfectly honest, you don’t need to cover every move type in the game, because you can easily take down any pokemon with your team here if you know which types are effective against which, so I didn’t put all the move types in your pokemon movesets.

Here's a nice chart to show you which types are effective against which: http://pokemondb.net/type

Sorry about not including ev’s, I don’t know very much about them.

Wow, this took a long time

Should I add a Klefki or Aegislash to my Pokemon team?

It really depends on what you think you need and your play style? Do you prefer a bulky team? Or do you need more support? Here, I'll do a lineup to compare the two. You have an offensive team, so both work well, but here is the pros and cons of each.AegislashPros- probably one of the most bulky and hard hitting attackers I've ever played with, super fun to play. Type coverage is really good, especially on physical variants, sacred sword+shadow claw is unresisted.Cons- banned in certain tiers, and takes some practice to learn how to use it. I'd recommend one with low speed and high attack or special attack. Also not very fun to build, but pays for itself later.KlefkiPros- fun to build, but lacking a little in the overall play enjoyment factor. Its typing is fairly good defensively, but could be better. It's also really a pest if your opponent isn't packing a fire or ground move.Cons- isn't as bulky as Aegislash, and is more easily killed as a result. There is also no real solid moveset I can recommend, for that I would go to Smogon.Conclusion- from personal experience I would use aegislash, as your team seems to be made of attackers, which isn't bad, but relying too much on one strategy isn't good. Aegislash is an annoying pain for anyone not packing taunt. On your team I'd replace mimikyu if you want to keep similar type variation, but replace vikivolt if you want to have a similar role filled. But in the end, just experiment, if something isn't working, don't be afraid to replace it.

Pokemon silver team counter help me plz???

first, you need a sudowoodu, with at least rockslide to destroy charizard (unless char's got earthquake) and low kick to take care of omastar, who is a likely counter to sudowoodu. he's also helpful against the zapdos

he's got two electric types, which are nice, because they only have one real weakness... and while we're on that weakness, a sandslash that knows earthquake is useful after charizard and zapdos are gone, not just against electabuzz, but in general, because they have nice attack and defense

now, since omastar is good as taken care of, and it's got only mediocre special attack, let's pull out everyone's favorite dark type. no, not tyranitar, he's too slow and would have been more useful if he was somehow ground/dark instead of rock/dark. no, we're gonna pull out a houndoom. if you wanna try something tricky with a houndoom, take a male jolteon that knows double kick and mate that with a female houndour/houndoom. doublekick is a nice little surprise for people who try to bring a rock type against houndoom, and makes him a little useful against tyranitars

a scizor would be pretty useful, his only real weakness that i can sea is omastar's water would do normal damage, and charizard would eat him. but for anyone else, after charizard is gone, start up fury cutter.. the only reason to NOT do this is if the mewtwo has a fire type move, which is actually quite likely

you don't see many high level normal types, but have you ever considered trying to use a tauros? with headbutt, it could cause some flinches, iron tail for those rock types that come along, and perhaps give him attract. it's a terrific move, and quite under-rated

and... i don't know what his last one is, but sunflora are also quite good. let a female sunkern learn all the moves it would, then mate it with a male that knows the moves as well, and then evolve earlier for sunflora's moves. i don't remember much about it at all, but i found it VERY useful in colleseum, and grass types are quite resilent little guys
