Sydney Or Queensland University Which Is Better

University of Queensland or University of Sydney?

I agree with the first answerer about the attractions of UQ and Brisbane, especially about the weather which is magificent pretty well all year 'round, but Sydney would fit the bill for you at least as well, if not better in some respects.

Brisbane's beaches are not very attractive and you need to travel at least an hour to get to good surf beaches. Mind you, when you get there, they're some of the best beaches in the world. Sydney on the other hand has magnificent beaches like Manly, Bondi and many others in its own suburbs.
Brisbane's nightlife is quite good; the Gold Coast's is better (but an hour away) but Sydney is nearly 3 times the size of the two combined and has even more.
As far as events are concerned, Sydney gets every touring act, and being a larger city, has more going on all the time. It's definitely a more switched on and vibrant city than Brisbane though Brisbane is a great city and no country town by any measure.
Brisbane has all the big theme parks and places like Australia Zoo and heaps of other touristy things close by and is 1000km closer to the Great Barrier Reef and the tropical rainforests.
It will be less expensive and easier to get around in Brisbane and the lifestyle is more relaxed and laidback. I'd recommend UQ, but felt you should get an idea of the cons of living in Brisbane as well as the pros.

University of Sydney or University of Queensland?

Ironically, when you study abroad in a country the last people you make friends with (if you ever manage to do it at all) are the natives of that country.

Several studies have been done that prove that a student studying in another country meets the following groups in the following order:
1.) Students from the same country as themselves
2.) International Students from the same geographical region as themselves (think the same continent)
3.) International Students from similar cultures or who speak the same language
4.) Students from the host nation

Most students who study abroad do not meet a large amount of domestic students and almost never integrate in with the native culture, esp if they are only in the country for a semester or a year. Ever notice how all the internationals on your home campus hang out among themselves? They may WANT to meet Americans, but it is far easier to meet other internationals who are in the same situation as themselves. You'll experience this too when you are abroad. As much as you want to meet Australians, you will find it much more convenient and comfortable to make friends with Americans (I'm assuming you're American) and other internationals. You will not be the exception to the rule.

My suggestion is to NOT go to Australia if you want to meet Australian students, strangely enough. If you go to another country, such as India or China, you will find it easy to meet and become friends with students from other English speaking nations, who are looking for new friends and travel companions like you are. Also, studying in developing countries like India, China, etc. looks much better on a resume or graduate school application than studying in a slightly different version of America (ie- OZ)

As a real life example I have one co-worker who was primarily friends with New Zealanders while teaching in South Korea....while my friend who studied in NZ itself met mostly other Americans and Canadians studying abroad. She had very few NZ friends.

Which one is better?? monash university australia or Queensland university of technology?

i recently received offers from both Monash University, australia and queensland university of technology(QUT) to study electrical engineering in either universities.Which one should I choose?

Where should I study? Griffith University or University of Queensland?

G'day,

My suggestion will be to read the course information from each uni. They may have the same name, but sometimes different course contents. For example, flexibility to combine subjects from different faculty/school as part of your degree.

As far as quality, both uni have the same quality and recognition everywhere.

Hope this helps. Good luck on your study and welcome to Australia :)

Macquarie University or University of Queensland.?

In my humble opinion , UQ wins on all points....

Is an MIT (Masters In Information Technology) from CQU (Central Queensland university, Mellbourne) good or bad?

To be honest with you, I would not put my son into this university. If your goal is to study, I suggest you choose the other universities like melbourne, rmit, swinburne, monash...If your goal is something else (like permanent residency) this guys could be right fit for you (or search there are many more like that).

Which university is better for mechanical engineering, the University of Queensland or Queensland University of Technology (QUT)?

The ‘best university’ is pretty arbitrary and difficult to define. I studied at UQ for 5 years, so understand that whilst I’ll try to keep this as partisan as possible there may be an element of bias in this answerIf you look at OP cut offs UQ is a 7, QUT is a 10. Whilst that doesn’t translate to the quality of the degree. It outlines the ‘calibre’ of the students you will be studying with. Universities taper the difficulty of the degree to the quality of the students taking the course. If you look at the distribution of students in each degree. UQ will have a relatively even distribution of OP 1–7 students. Whereas QUT’s distribution will be skewed to encompass more 8–10’s as it will contain some students who did not get into UQ. It is reasonable to expect that on average, students at UQ will have a lower OP and thus the content will be more rigorous. However, difficulty of content is not everything, and QUT prides itself on providing a modern practical degree. UQ has some extremely difficult mathematics courses during first and second year. All of which teach complex mathematics that have limited application to real life engineering. It is extremely common for UQ students whom fail these courses move to QUT and then excel as they find the learning style better suited to them. One thing that you might like to consider is degree reputation. UQ ranks 47 (Top 0.2%) in the world according to QS World Rankings compared to QUT at 247 (Top 1.0%). Both of which are extremely impressive given there are 24,000 unis worldwide. In my experience some firms may discriminate towards the higher ranking, however most could not give a fuck so long as you have the degree.
