Tailors Charge Alot Of Money To Make Clothes For You

How much should a tailor charge?

should not be more then 30.

How much does a tailor charge?

My tailor only charged me $5 to hem a pair of jeans, so it shouldn't cost more than $10. Check your local phone book for nearby tailors and dry cleaning stores that do alterations.

I will say short and simple YES. But choose tailor wisely. Who have experience, fine grip over making clothes and which is in your budget. It will help you to setup your brand without doing some huge money investment and spending too much time for the manufacturing. Mark these words, local tailors make clothes as per their customers point of view, you have to convince them to make clothes as your pint of view. Because sometimes it is hard to convince them for your requirement.Make calculatated steps and do it wisely. Best wishes for the future.

How much should I charge people to iron their clothes?

Don't charge per hour, charge per article. And charge different prices for different articles of clothing. For instance. It takes less work to iron some pieces than others. The ones that are more demanding you can charge more for and the ones that are less demanding you can charge more for. That way you get money no matter how long it took you, you still get paid. if 10 people give you their clothes and you charge per article and it only takes you an hour to finish them all you could be makign the equivalent of like $150 or more for one hour of work depending on the number of items. Charging per item, like real laundry places do, will work much more to your benefit.

How much should I charge for custom tailoring?

A general rule of thumb for handcrafts is to charge three times the cost of your supplies. This covers your time and creativity. I don't know if that's practical for sewing. Do the math and see what you think.

If this lady often has dresses made, ask her what she usually pays. Then, give a bit of a discount. Or, check your local phonebook and see if there are any seamstresses in your area. If not, dry cleaning shops usually have a tailor on call. Ask them how much that tailor or seamstress would charge for a dress.

Get all the info you can, and then make a decision. It would probably be best to charge per project rather than per hour, I'd say.

How to make money in a week to buy some new clothes for school?!? Help!!?

Curious why you just realized this. Where you unaware all Summer long that School would start in September? I am unsure how to help you find ways to make money at the last minute, but I suggest thinking ahead is a GREAT thing to do, so you are not in this situation in the future.

At the beginning of the summer, start looking for ways to find money: Yard work; baby sitting; minor jobs for those who have trouble doing them. (Cleaning)

For now - do you have have something you could sell? A gaming system? XBox? PSP, Games??? Look around and see what YOU own that you might be able to sell quickly.

How much should I charge per hour to make clothes?

First, let me start off by giving my experience. I'm 26 and have been sewing since about age 10, making mostly skirts and dresses from store bought patterns and ones I have made. Although I've made everything from jeans to bras (there's some knitting in there, so socks too! =) ) I do a lot of work for friends, mostly alterations and repairs. A few times I have made skirts, dresses and tops for them, but everything else (bras included in that) I make for myself. My problem is that I don't want to overcharge, because if I had to go somewhere for custom clothes I wouldn't want to either.

My recent job has been to make 5 skirts for a friend. She bought the fabric and notions, and borrowed me the skirt it would be based off. So I did have to make a pattern from that, but it was loosely taken from one I already have, with some minor changes. The skirt is very simple, kneesurged edwith a front, back and an elastic waist. There was no channel for the elastic, it was serged in. So there are the two side seams which are also finished, a finished waistband and hem (although 3 of them I had to do a double rolled hem and blindstitch since I don't have a coverhem, and the serger + straight seaming method was too heavy for the fabric).

All in all, with creating the pattern (to some extent), cutting, pinning, pressing and sewing, 5 skirts took me about 6 hours. She paid about $38 for all the fabric and notions. The original skirt this is based from cost her $10 brand new to begin with, so I don't want to overcharge. What is the normal cost for by-the-hour work? (In Massachusettes)

Is it expensive to get clothes tailored?

Since you paid $150 for them, it's definitely worth it even if it costs $50 but it probably won't be anywhere near that. "Usually" (depending where you live and what your local tailors charge), it'll be somewhere from $8.00 to $12.00 for the hem and another $10.00 or so to take in the waste, which includes any tucking of side or back seams just below the waste band. $20 is a good guess and worth it. MOST clothes today SHOULD be tailored though most people don't bother. Clothing is all manufactured in very general sizes, always wider and longer to cover a broader range of bodies. No two bodies are identical, so to look REALLY put together and well dressed, tailor your clothes. You can often get REALLY good deals at sales that make the tailoring a non-issue. The next time you look around and spot someone who just "looks perfect" chances are they had their clothes tailored (especially tops and jackets!) to fit THEM...

How much does it cost to get clothing tailored?

You should be looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of $15-$25 to work on the waist of each pair of pants. As far as if it is an alteration that can be performed, and if it will look alright, that's a question that your tailor will have to answer when they look at the pants on you. Two inches, in general, should be just fine. Three inches gets to be quite a lot of material to be taken in and may throw off other proportions of the pants; specifically, the back pockets will begin to meet, and the front pockets will start to pull disproportionally over your hip bones.

For example, in men's wear, taking in two inches in the waist is no problem, three inches puts us into what I call "re-cut territory." We can do it, but re-cutting a pair of pants is very extensive work to be done and will drive the cost of altering up to the seventy dollar range; basically, what the tailors do in a re-cut is take the pants apart and rebuild them as a smaller size.

But, as I said, your tailor will have to see the pants on you to give you an answer about what work can be done.

Due to my thunder thighs I’ve always had holes developed in the crotches of my trousers. Especially finer materials like my suit trousers. My tailor only charges me $15AUS dollars to patch up my crotch. I come back every now and then to patch up my jeans and chinos. However, for suit trousers and dress pants I’ve started installing “silk saddles” which prevents me from needing to patch them up. This alternative is more affordable and better for preserving the quality of your trousers. My tailor used to charge me $10AUS for them, but now provides them for free when I purchase my suits.Would highly recommend.Hope this helps
