Tell Difference Between Base And Top Coat Nails

What is the difference between getting shellac nails and acrylic nails done at a salon?

Shellac is a type of gel nail lacquer made by CND. It can be applied on natural nails 1/8" or shorter, or on gel nail extensions. It goes on similar to nail polish in that it's applied as a base, 2 coats of color and a top coat, but differs in that it is cured under a UV light after the application of each layer.
This product can not be used to create nail extensions. It is simply a type of gel nail lacquer and nothing more. The offer a chip-resistance, high-shine, long lasting polish.
You, as a consumer would not be able to change to colour of the product whenever you want, though you could remove it yourself as it dissolves in acetone, but you would not be able to reapply a different color yourself as the product is not available for purchase by the general public and requires a UV curing lamp to dry.
However since the product is removed using acetone, it is not practical for use on acrylics, since acrylic product is also broken down by acetone.

Shellac is similar in nature to OPI Soak-Off Gel nail lacquers.

What's the difference between top coat and base coat? Can I use them interchangeably?

Um, it won't hurt you to use them interchangeably, but I wouldn't.

1. A top coat is a sealant. This is used to seal in your nailcolor and to keep your nail shiny. It can be used on top of another color, or it can be used alone on a bare nail.

2. A basecoat is designed to protect your nail from the color you are going to put on it. It prevents the nail from yellowing due to the pigmentation of nail polish. It is also a little bit sticky to nail polish. A good basecoat is going to help your nail polish to stick better to your nail; making your nail polish last longer. Most basecoats may appear initially shiny, but because they are kinda sticky, they will not remain so for long if you wear them alone.

You really shouldn't use a topcoat for a basecoat because a topcoat is so shiny it does not allow the nail polish to stick to it very well. Using topcoat as a basecoat will lead to streaky nail polish, polish that does not wear long, and/or chipped nails.

You really shouldn't use a basecoat for a topcoat because the polish will not stay shiny and will not wear very long.

A base coat is primarily a sealer consisting of basic ingredients that degrade overtime.A top coat is the same as a base coat but includes ingredients that prevent that degradation, such as UV or waterproof protection, and qualities that extend durability. The top coat can be applied as a base coat but the finish will not be as well and usually will require multiple finish coats. A base coat can be treated as a top coat but it will degrade over time especially if exposed to the Sun.The reason for a base coat is that it provides a uniform sheen of the finish, is less expensive than a top coat because it lacks special ingredients, and usually allows the finish coat to cover with just one coat. So, the base coat saves both time and money.

What would happen if i put a nail hardener base coat on top of the nail polish?

It'll be fine, it'll actually work better. It'll be shiny and last longer. I do it all the time.

What's the difference between acrilic and gel nails?

The difference between acrylic and gel nails is that acrylics are applied using a liquid monomer and a powder polymer to create a hard protective layer over your natural nails. Acrylics only harden when exposed to air. While gel polishes are similar to nail polish - you have a base coat, polish color and top coat. Each coat has to be cured in the UV light for two to three minutes
As for choosing which ones to get, it really depends on what you want. I used to get acrylic (before my nails grew out naturally) because I do a lot of physical labour work with my hands, and they were stronger and could withstand more damage. But I can imagine gel nails would be a lot lighter. But I'm sure you can do the same with gel nails that you can do with acrylic, it shouldn't make a difference in the nail art department haha

How can you tell the difference between MMA and EMA when getting your nails done?

I have been getting artificial nails done at a nearby nail shop for over 3 years now, and never had any issues, they were great. Then, at my last visit, I noticed when she opened the container of liquid to create my nails, it had a powerful, pungent, strange/fruity odor, that made me feel a bit dizzy, then the smell quickly went away.

This concerned me, as I had never smelled any 'smell' when my nails were done before.

I am 4 months pregnant, and I discovered a dangerous chemical called MMA was used instead of the safe EMA when making the artificial nails. So, I went back to the shop and told them my concerns. They showed me the bottle the liquid came from, I copied the name and called the number. The man who sells this stuff to the nail salon told me straight up its MMA!

I was so mad. I am not going back, and have found a few salons I want to check out. But, I am scared-I now know the smell of the MMA, and how the company selling it DID NOT HAVE THE INGREDIENTS ON THE BOTTLE. So, thats a tell tale sign.!!

,,.but, what does the safe EMA smell like? Will the bottle say 'EMA' on it if I ask to see it? Are there any ways I can make sure its EMA without buying the OPI MMA Detection kit?

What Is The Difference Between Solar and Acrylic Nails?

Solar nails are similar to acrylic but are made with a slightly different product. They are not extensions like other acrylic nails because they are applied directly to your own natural nail.

Solar nails are just like a French manicure with all the pampering but without the hassle. They are applied in a two step application. After your nails have been prepared for the application by cleaning and buffing your nails and preparing the nail plate then your solar nail application can begin.

The first thing your nail technician will do to apply solar nails is to brush on the “white part” of the French nail. Then the next application is the “pink part”, which goes over the “white”. The acrylic is the “pink”.

Solar nails are the no hassle artificial nails. They do not need to have nail polish so after the pink part is added you are on your way.

Solar nails do not chip, are long lasting, and also help to strengthen your nails all in a French manicure style. Your nail technician will buff your new solar nails and they will be shiny and ready for anything.

If you like to tan, solar nails are wonderful as they do not turn yellow as some artificial nails do when you visit your favorite tanning salon.

Solar nails only need refilled about every 3 weeks. So, they are more convenient and economical than most artificial nails.

More models and television stars are now using solar nails. They can be applied in less time and last so much longer. These nails are really for ladies on the go. The ease of caring for these nails is incredible. It will be like your own natural nails.

When you step out with your solar nails you will not have to worry about them lifting off, chipping, or turning yellow. Just care for your hands and nails like always and you will never have a problem. You will be able to do anything that you normally do without worrying about being easy on your artificial nails.

Your nail technician can explain the great advantages to using solar nails instead of other artificial nails. You will be so pleased with your new solar nails that you will not want to ever use any other artificial nail.

Should i put the adhesive base coat before or after the nail polish?

the base coat goes before the nail polish only use one nice thin coat of that, wait for it to dry then do a really thin coat of the colour you want. do like 3 strokes one on the right one in the middle and one on the left. wait for it to dry then do one last thin coat. (if you do thick coats the nail polish will just peel right off.)

Acid-Base Reactions: When an acid and a base are placed together, they react to neutralize the acid and base properties, producing a salt. The H(+) cation of the acid combines with the OH(-) anion of the base to form water. The compound formed by the cation of the base and the anion of the acid is called a salt. For example: HCl + NaOH → NaCl + H2OPrecipitate Reactions: Precipitates form when two soluble salts react in solution to form one or more insoluble products. The insoluble product separates from the liquid and is called a precipitate. For example: AgNO3(aq) + NaCl(aq) → AgCl↓ + NaNO3(aq)Redox (short for reduction–oxidation reaction) is a chemical reaction in which the oxidation states of atoms are changed. Any such reaction involves both a reduction process and a complementary oxidation process, two key concepts involved with electron transfer processes.A good example is the reaction between hydrogen and fluorine in which hydrogen is being oxidized and fluorine is being reduced:H2 + F2 → 2 HF
