Charging cell phone from INDIA in USA?

The first thing to do is to examine your power supply ("charger") carefully. On the data label (which is probably on the side where the AC plug is) it should say something like

Input: 100-240V, 50-60Hz

If it does (and I'm very confident that it does, because these things are made to be used worldwide), your power supply is already compatible with US power; all you need is a plug adapter so you can plug it into a US "NEMA" wall socket.

I've linked a plug adapter below. I realize you probably don't want to buy from Amazon U.S., but that is the sort of thing to look for. You can find them in travel supply stores. You may also be able to find them in the shops in the US airport where you land, but never having looked for one, I can't promise that.

If your power supply really does want only 220 to 240 volts input, then your best bet is to just buy a power supply (not a voltage converter - just another "charger") for your phone once you get here. They are inexpensive and very easy to find. If the phone charges from a USB cable, any power supply with a MicroUSB output connector will work. If it charges from something else, you will of course need a power supply with compatible plug, voltage, and current at least as high as the original.

But if you really want to... yes, you can buy a transformer voltage converter. I've linked one below. That is the sort of thing to look for. Travel supply stores usually have them.

In any of the three cases above, your phone will NOT charge half as fast (as "Raamblings" claimed). Rather, it will charge just as fast as it does in India. The fact that the wall socket supplies only half the voltage that it does in India is irrelevant. What matters is whether the socket can provide sufficient power to enable the supply to emit the required charging voltage and current. As long as the wall socket can provide power that's in the input range of the adapter (e.g. 100-240 volts), yes, it can. (Just fyi, they go down to 100 because 100 volt AC supply is common in Japan.)

"Raamblings" may be thinking that the power supply is a simple unregulated "linear" type. But if that were the case then it would emit only 2.5 volts when powered from a US wall socket, and this would not charge the phone *at all*, as it is well below the battery voltage (3.7 volts).

What is wireless B+G lan?

i like these 3 miles long copy/paste answers :-(

in a few words:
Wireless B is a short form for the IEEE 802.11b standard (based on the RF 2.4GHz with a max. throughput of 11Mbps)
Wireless G is the IEEE 802.11g standard (based on the RF 2.4GHz with a max. throughput of 54Mbps) RF = Radio Frequency

both standards are compatible to each other.
