Tenchi Muyo series? Whats the order?
To do it by the book... Start with the original OAV series (aka "Tenchi Muyo! Ryo Ohki") Follow that up with the first TV series (aka "Tenchi Universe") Finish up with the second TV series, "Tenchi in Tokyo." Bear in mind that while they all use the same characters, each series is set in its own timeline, which ignores the events of the other two. Now come the spin-offs... The Pretty Sammy OAV series and the Mihoshi Special are all found on the same DVD. Pretty Sammy is set in yet another timeline, in which Sasami is a Sailor Moon-type heroine. The Mihoshi Special is hard to pin down as to which continuity it belongs within, because it has elements in it from the OAV ...AND the TV versions in it. But it's a fun episode, anyway. Then there is the Pretty Sammy TV series (aka "Magical Project S"). It differs in many interesting ways from the OAV series, plus it was never dubbed into English. Then, there are the three motion pictures. 1. Tenchi Muyo! In Love - This is a big screen sequel to the first TV series ("Universe"). 2. Tenchi Muyo! Manatsu No Eve (aka "Tenchi the Movie 2: Daughter of Darkness") This movie does not fit into any previously established animated continuity, but is a hoot all the same. 3. Tenchi Muyo! In Love 2 (aka "Tenchi Forever") Sequel to the first movie and final installment of the first TV series timeline. Finally, in recent times, two more related TV series sprang up. 1.Tenchi Muyo GXP - This series is set with the original OAV timeline, but mostly follows the adventures of completely different characters. Tenchi and his friends only make cameo appearances. 2. Sasami: Magical Girls Club - A new timeline in which Sasami and her friends are little witches. There are a few others that can be mentioned, but for now, this is a full plate.

What is the correct order to watch the Tenchi Muyo series?
Personally i don't think there is ever a "correct order" unless your talking about the time line of which it came... but if i would give a good try at it (since i have watched dem all, movies included) i would say...Tenchi Muyo OVA (now from Funimation) - this sets the tone of the series. and this covers all three sets.. OVA 1 is ep 1-6, OVA 2 is 8 - 13.5, OVA 3 is 14 - 19 with 2 "Specials Eps 7 and 20.Tenchi Universe - This has stories that follow loosely around the first 6 eps of the OVA.Tenchi in Tokyo - has the same cast but now tenchi is a high school student in tokyo and there are a few other changes.Tenchi Muyo GXP - although this title was done earlier and the same universe as tenchi he isn't really in this one. so i just put it last on the list. any of the movies - said last as it wasn't part of the question but still a good thing to see if you like the show..as you can tell i was extremely vague as i didn't want to give away characters and so on. and btw i never seen what Funimation has done to it, if they added new voices or what not. since saw them all either in tokyo where i was living at the time or the Tapes or LD from Pioneer. again this is my opinion based on what i saw in the years it came out... i really enjoyed them as i also enjoyed El Hazard from the same group of people that did Tenchi.... well hope this helps...

all right. first off Tenchi Muyo! Rho-oki! was the first series, thats the OVA's. it has like 20 ep. Then the creators decided to make a remake which became Tenchi Universe or Tenchi TV. It has the same sorta timeline and events but some personallities are different and its more of a toonami show ie, more plot driven while Rho-Oki is more charcter driven Then they made ANOTHER remake and called it Tenchi in Tokyo <-- TOTALLY different from the others not even worth watching in my opinon ALL 3 were shown on Toonami back in the day then theres a spinoff called Tenchi GXP and 3 movies Tenchi Muyo! the movie: Tenchi in Love Tenchi the movie 2: Daughter of Darnkess Tenchi Forever! the first and last movie are direct continuations of Tenchi Universe. sadly you may have to rent or buy the dvds, im a huge tenchi fan but i have yet to find torrents for the final season. i dont know whats going on but pionner became really anal about that last season, on youtube you can see the first 13 but they been stripping all the new last seasons off. trust me if i could have found it i would tell you where, but your better off renting them from blockbuster or netflix
