The Clash Vs The Ramones Vs Bad Brains

The Ramones, The Misfits or The Clash?

These are my top 3 favorite bands ever. It's really hard to pick for me, but I would probably pick The Ramones as my favorite out of those three, just because the first punk-rock song I heard was My Brain Is Hanging Upside Down...So what's your favorite band between those 3? Explain why too =)

Which is the ultimate punk band, The Clash or Ramones?

Well, for starters, you are talking about two of my all time favorite bands and the two greatest punk bands that ever walked this earth. They were the essence of punk. They oozed punk out of their pores. They invented it and you took it over. And every other cliche or line you can think of. They deserve the praise. They were really the ONLY two true punk bands in my opinion. On July 4, 1976, the Ramones played a gig at the Roundhouse in London, supporting the Flaming Groovies. It was the most important concert of one of the most important tours in music history. Part of a brief tour of England, the gig was attended by such luminaries as Marc Bolan and allegedly Paul McCartney. Meanwhile, in another part of town, the Clash were playing on a bill with the Sex Pistols. It was the Clash’s debut gig. The next night, all four bands met up at the same club and watched the Ramones perform a blistering set. The Ramones first album had only made it to #111 on the US charts and they were not yet well known to the public at large, despite glowing critical reviews. But the musicians , the punk and new wave musicians regarded them as the touchstone. They were more influential than the Clash and so they get the nod. Slightly. But it could really go either way.Punk magazine, which was meant to chronicle the New York CBGB scene, featured the Ramones on the cover of their third issue. Further proof that they set the mood that others followed. The Clash were more musically experimental and their lyrics addressed real issues that affected the lives and political culture of their listeners. But for pure punk deconstruction, you can’t really beat the boys from Queens.I should add that in some ways the ultimate punk band may have been the Stooges but that is a conversation for another day.

This is for the punx!! Bad Brains or Misfits? Attitude?

I would say Misfits. Although the Bad Brains Attitude is really good too.

What's a really good punk rock song with quality, and adrenaline?

Okay, so I don't want anybody to be putting down metallica, disturbed, anything metal. Here are a few really good examples.
1. Rise Against - Savior
2. Rise Against - Re-Education
3. Auto Pilot off - The 12th day
4. 30 seconds to mars - A beautiful lie
Thanks in advance!

Which one among these is the ultimate punk rock band; The Ramones, The Clash, The Sex Pistols, Black Flag, or Social Distortion?

All of them!…except for Social D. Great band but not as influential as the others. Missing from the list are The Dead Kennedy’s, Bad Brains, The Stooges, and Minor Threat.Social D deserves honorable mention along with DRI, Meat Puppets, Butthole Surfers, Circle Jerks, The Germs, Suicidal Tendencies, Pennywise, NOFX, TSOL, Rancid, The Damned, The Cramps, UK Subs, Fugazi, X, L7, The Exploited, Agent Orange, The Adolescents, and a couple dozen other bands that I can’t think of right now.

Is The Clash the only band that mattered?

Thanks for the A2AThe Clash were different, they sought to make a difference to their young listeners amidst the high youth unemployment and social problems of the 70s. Their lyrics still ring true to this day but the only band that matters was just a polemic they used to make them stand out from the crowd. The Clash are still picking up fans 40 years after their debut and matter to a select few in a way that other 70s corporate rock groups like Foreigner, ELP, the Eagles & (California era) Fleetwood Mac never will (Yeah l know they’re all talented, great harmonies - Feck them). Their debut album is hard loud and fast and available in two versions the original UK & the amended US version. London Calling is one the greatest rock double albums but all their other albums have great tracks. They’re far from the only band that matters but they are one of the few 70s bands that are still relevant today. While the Pistols were about nihilism and the Ramones celebrated teenage life, the Clash aimed higher and were about trying to empower people to change their world. That fecked up world still needs to be changed and the Clash are still a band that matters.London CallingMuiris Mac Cartaine's answer to What can you say about the recently deceased singer Scott Walker?
