The Dentist Said I Had A Few Decalcification Spots Some Darker Than Others. They Advised I Use

Tooth Decalcification?

Yes, this decalcification is permanent (sorry!) and whitening these areas will only cause them to get whiter and or decalcify furthur. Your best option is to see how they look once the braces come off and decide how to treat them then. You may end up having white fillings that will match the rest of the tooth surface to replace the decalcified areas. What you can do now is make sure your are keeping the areas clean and rinse nightly with a fluoride rinse (ACT, or Fluorigard) or ask your orthodontist for a prescription for a high concentration Fluoride toothpaste... Wish I had better news...

Treatment for decalcification?

oh my favorite topic!! so your dentist is right it is sometimes from developmental condition or from braces. but using a whitening product does make it worse. these areas are pretty much the beginning of a cavity. and a filling will just destroy the enamel you have. you need something called MI Paste. this is a paste that has calcium and phosphate and other great stuff in it to help sensitivity and also demineralized areas. The paste is like lotion for your teeth, it is not toothpaste. You dab it on, i usually tell my patients to put it on after you brush your teeth right before you go to bed and then leave it on overnight, and over a couple weeks your white spots should start disappearing. after this those spots will actually be harder than your natural enamel. This product is only avaliable in dental offices and are more expensive but you only use a little bit so it lasts a while. There are other products like this product but do not have the research and studies that prove this. you can check out their website also and see all about it www.mi-paste.com
hope that helps a little!

What to do about my decalcification around my teeth?

1) go to a different dentist
2) dont use any special toothpaste - just plain.. (no whitening, no tarter control...etc.. just regular crest) Other kinds actually can remove the enamel.

3) Did he say your we getting decalcification? if so, there is a product called MI Paste (only available at a dentist office), but typically you will see a discoloring - like brown.. along the gum lines first.

4) white spots dont always mean decal. some people just get this. You could ask ANOTHER dentist about ways to correct it, but typically (if i remember right) you would need veneers which is when the remove the fronts of your teeth and replace them with porcelain. Not fun and very $$

so really, i would go to a different dentist and get another opinion.

and BRUSH YOUR TEETH!! ;)
get your mom to get you an electric toothbrush. Specifically one made by SONICARE. they make the best... most others dont work well enough to justify the price.

Decalcified teeth! (braces) How can I reverse it?

See your dentist as soon as you notice any possible signs of decalcification. Initial signs of decalcification are very white, opaque spots on your teeth. According to the Cosmetic Dentistry Center, if the process has progressed to darker stains, it is no longer reversible.

Have your dentist perform a cleaning. The Cosmetic Dentistry Center recommends professional teeth cleaning every three months to reverse decalcification.

Improve your oral hygiene habits. Your dentist can evaluate your current brushing and flossing techniques and show you how you should be cleaning your teeth. Clean your teeth thoroughly after each meal to eliminate plaque buildup.

Use plaque-revealing tablets after cleaning your teeth. These tablets, available from your dentist, use a removable dye that attaches to plaque, which helps you discover the areas of plaque that you need to clean more thoroughly.

Rub a tooth mousse on your teeth every day. Tooth mousse works like fluoride treatments to protect your teeth, prevent decay and even reverse early signs of decay, according to Thaindian News. Your dental professional or pharmacy can provide you with tooth mousse.

Is there a specific reason African people have good teeth?

As there are racial difference in the shape of the skull, there are also some racial differences in the shape and size of teeth. Before I became an orthodontist, I practiced as a generalist dentist for 8 years. I remember having to remove an upper right molar for a gentleman of Haitian origin. As he sat down in the chair he said the following: « You’ll see that pulling out a tooth from someone like me is much more difficult than pulling a tooth from a white person». I stood back for a moment and then said that I’d had a fair amount of experience at extracting teeth and that he should trust me to do a good job. He gave me a thin smile and said: «Just wait and see».I numbed him and when he the anesthetic had taken hold, I went about extracting his tooth. Well it turned out I did have a hard time and the bone surrounding his tooth was indeed quite stiff, making the extraction more difficult.Over the years, I have always remembered that extraction. I have treated quite a few orthodontic patients of African descent over the years and these are some of the observations I have made:In general, Africans tend to haveLarger teeth than caucasians or asiansMore diastemas (naturally-occuring spacing or gaps between teeth)Denser bone around teethA slightly higher occurence of supernumerary teeth (extra teeth)Having said that does it mean that they have good teeth? If a person takes good care of their teeth and limits their intake of sugary foods then they will have good teeth regardless of their racial origin. As far as whiteness of the teeth, one of the factors that makes teeth appear whiter is the shade of the lips and skin around the mouth. In general, darker skin makes teeth appear whiter.

Have you ever been stalked by someone?

Hello,Yes, I have and it was very traumatic for me. It happened when I was in high school. Sadly, it still haunts me and that was over 20 years ago!An old perv used to watch me walk from the bus stop to my house. He’d be in his car just cruising in the middle of the street. He never did anything physical, Thank God! However, he did approach me during that time. I was at the mall with my mom. We separated for a bit and BOOM, he was there! He said that he always wants to pick me up when watching me! I freaked out and ran to mom. We were both naive and didn’t call the cops. Of course we should’ve!Ten years later, we crossed paths again. It was clear then that his intentions back then weren’t pure at all! He asked if i was the girl who lived with her mom! WTF? You mean to tell me that this creeper remembered stalking me after TEN years? I lied and told him that he got the wrong woman and i didnt know him. He kept looking me up and down and said your sure look like her. He admitted to watching me and kept staring. He finally gave up and said “phew” like damn she fine kinda deal.He made me SICK! He still makes me SICK! He was DISGUSTING and did A LOT of damage to me mentally and emotionally. He’s a huge reason that I see my body negatively. It doesn’t help that the medical problems aid to my negative self-image!Before, during and after my experience, I had a lot of traumatic situations happen. They all related to guys either being way too forward, guys showing overwhelming gestures to get my attention, strangers asking me if i live alone, staring co-workers asking me if im married..how much i weigh…guys acting like babies when rejected…etc. I just don’t get it!I urge anyone to call the cops if this happens to you or someone you know! I be damned if this ever happens to my daughter!

I have an IQ of over 73. Why do intellectual inferiors think that they can argue with me?

I like how you worded this question and it already appears that you have “baited” a few people into showing their ranges. I will give a shot at answering, I am a strong believer in not judging a book by it's cover and I will go off of what you have presented—your question. As for the lead in and what caught my attention…bravo.I never thought I would say this about an IQ post on Quora…you are not giving yourself enough credit. You obviously have an IQ over 73. Proof, you have the ability to navigate the World Wide Web and you managed to write your question in a way that is grammatically acceptable. Honestly, I think you are a lot smarter than people who post“My iq is over 190 & I cant make money why?Or“I have 143 ig on the M-rat and my professor thinks he can argue with me and I want to know why and I want to know.”You get the picture and I think you should leave the “intellectual inferiors” alone. You have talent, a medium to use it (the internet), and you can make your own resources; have you ever thought about a YouTube channel?Arguing with people, in general, is a waste of time and effort. Find a better use for your time, stop posting loaded questions on Quora and put that intellect to good use. Pick up a book on conflict resolution and put down the numbers you hold in high regard.

What is a permanent solution for brown or black stains on teeth? I got my teeth cleaned at a dentist and lost some enamel. Is cleaning by dentist bad for teeth? He said there is not much we can do to get rid of these stains.

Some of the popular methods used today for teeth whitening include Laser Whitening, Bleaching (gel and pens) and Whitening / DIY strips. While most of these will give you good results in a short period of time, the bleaching action often affects the gums as well, causing gum irritation and inflammation. Additionally, prolonged usage of these wear out the enamel which is an irreversible process. Natural remedies are usually more effective in the longer term without most of the side effects, cost or inconveniences of the other solutions. Natural Remediesa)     Baking soda: It has been in use for hundreds of years in cooking and as a cleaning agent. It is easy to find and use, and is fairly inexpensive. Using it can be as simple as dipping a wet brush in baking soda and brushing gently with it. Brushing aggressively may cause irritated gums.b)     Fruits and vegetables: Some fruits and vegetables such as Apples, Strawberries, Kiwi, Cauliflower, Carrots, Broccoli, and Cucumbers etc. help by scrubbing the teeth surface while eating and also help increase the production of saliva which acts as a self-cleaning agentc)      Sugar free chewing gum: Chewing sugar free gum after food or a drink will help prevent stains as well. This also helps scrub the teeth and helps increase the production of saliva. d)     Organic oil: Swishing your mouth with a tablespoon or two of organic oil (could be coconut, sesame or olive oil) followed by spitting and rinsing with water. There is no substitute to dental hygiene to achieve whiter, cleaner teeth. Brushing teeth gently at least twice daily with a soft toothbrush, preferably brushing after each meal does not have a substitute. Don’t smoke and don’t drink soda, as both are bad for teeth in addition to causing other health issues. Use a straw when drinking soda if at all.More info at Teeth whitening naturally and quickly!
