The First 371 Words Of My Maybe Book

How long is 1 billion words in a story?

Maybe I'm asking a vague question but I'm not a professional writer or anything like that. I'm just a person writing a story. I have this idea to write a story that will be exactly 1 billion words in length. I figure 1 billion was a pretty lengthy amount of words to create a great adventure. However, I just finished 7 chapters being nothing but exposition and they accumulated a little over 24000 words and I haven't even gotten into the main plot. Each chapter is on average 3000 words with one chapter having over 7000. For the prologue, I'm going to guess that it's going to take 2 more chapters to finish it, so I'm going to estimate the number of words to 30000. I don't know why but that I feel like that is a lot of words and the goal of a billion word novel is going to be reached easily. I want this story to prolong, to be a long adventure but at the same time I want the feeling of knowing that there is a goal and I want to see how far the goal will take. So I don't know if a billion words with 30000 shaved off for explanations will give me a great journey or it will end too abruptly.

Why is it so hard to sell books on amazon?

It’s not hard if you follow the right strategy.Do you know about book retail arbitrage on Amazon? This is a relatively new concept of selling on Amazon. A retail store is selling a product which you purchase and sell to someone else for a higher price, while keeping the profit.Watch a the live demonstration here. Now tell me, is that hard? I don’t think so.

Best book on the French Revolution?

Citizens gives a good overview of a vast subject especially the personalities involved in a rather confusing typically French political situation.

I have also read Paris In The Terror by Stanley Loomis and Talleyrand: The Art Of Survival by Jean Orieux. Both are excellent but don't have the breadth of the Schama book. Talleyrand has always been one of my favorite politicians and as a biography I rank it quite high. Just my opinion.

A less exacting book than Citizens is The Days of the French Revolution by Christopher Hibbert. I think it is quite good. Maybe read it first?

My suggestion would be to read the four books I've given and then go to the more or less contemporary histories.

As always just my opinion.

Added: Realistically since Citizens is generally acknowledged to be the best English book on the subject you're going to have to deal with it sooner or later.

Should I type my novel first or manually write it?

I will try to answer this by my own experience!Just few months back, I was ready with a story line, and some characters, and yes, a notebook! So, I wrote and wrote. I really did a great job but ultimately I abandoned it.Merits of Handwriting your manuscript:You can be more creative: some people find their creativity flowing only when they write it themselves. If you have a bad handwriting, no one else other than you can read it. (And It’s awesome) hahaIf you suffer from “backspace” syndrome, handwriting a novel is much preferable. It will motivate you to keep writing and not look back, because whenever you will look back, the notebook will say “You can’t erase the ink (unless you’ve an ink eraser, obviously) and you can’t tear the pages of your hard written writing!”De-merits of Handwriting your manuscript:It can be more time consuming and tiring also. After half an hour of writing, you’ll be like “Thank god, I’ve written too much for today. Great! Now, close it.” And trust me, font size of your handwriting really matters if you are guessing the length of your novel by number of the pages you’ve written. You’ll get stuck if you are not going by your plot and then what will happen? You will not write the novel, the novel will write you! Trust me, this task becomes really scary at times! You will not be able to delete or edit the parts that you want to be changed. For example, half way through the story, you realize I should’ve introduced this near the beginning, but…If your handwriting is not good, and you would like someone else to review your work, either you have to put your head between your hands and regret or you’ll have to write the whole piece on word document. So, why to do double work when ultimately you have to type it.My suggestion: Type the novel, write the ideas! (Got it? need I say more)I hope this answers the question!

What is the easiest way to learn financial accounting?

I’ve posted this answer elsewhere on Quora, but I think these tips will be helpful to you too! While college is definitely one way of learning accounting, there are plenty of easily-accessed, free resources available. I truly believe anyone can learn accounting—all it takes is being willing to learn and knowing where to look. Here are some of the best resources that I used when I first taught myself accounting.Read BooksOne of the first stops on the road to learning bookkeeping should be your local library. Pick up books like:Accounting for DummiesBookkeeping for DummiesComplete Idiot’s Guide to AccountingKeeping the Books: Basic Bookkeeping and Accounting for Small BusinessesAccounting DemystifiedRead anything and everything you can get your hands on. Reading terms and definitions multiple times is the key to remembering concepts. Each book also explain concepts in a different way, and maybe what is confusing in one books makes total sense in another. You could even pick up an Accounting or Bookkeeping textbook that many colleges use and go through it at your own pace.Watch VideosAnother often overlooked free resource is online accounting videos. Many professors and CPAs record YouTube videos on specific accounting concepts, like: What is accounting? What are accounts payable? What are credits and debits? One of my go-to videos is the Accounting 1 series by JCCCVideo. This series is composed of 30 videos of an actual Introduction to Accounting college class. This is a great option if you’re a visual and auditory learner.Write NotesWhile you’re reading books and watching videos, take notes. Try to write things in your own words. Maybe even try to teach the concepts you learn to a friend or a spouse. When you are forced to explain a concept in your own words, you’ll truly know if you understand it and increase your chances of remembering the concepts you learn. You Can Do It!Believe me, I know how confusing and intimidating learning bookkeeping can be. But you can absolutely do it. If you ever have any questions, feel free to check out Merchant Maverick where our blog features articles like The Quick Guide to Accounting Terms and Concepts, How to Setup A Chart of Accounts, and more. Good luck and best wishes!

My husband always finding faults in me?

Last night he went on this rant about the things i (and my dog who barks at storms, and my daughter) do that he doesn't like, things like not keeping the house the way he likes it. One example that happened the other day is that I opened up a package of something and a piece of paper fell to the floor (which I didn't notice) but he said how could someone just let something fall to the floor and not immediately pick it up?! He got angry about it. He seemed so disgusted.

When I try to listen calmly during his telling me of all the things about me that bug him, he says "There you go closing down again - cant you just say something?" (I don't want to get angry and lash back). However, if I try to say things like "I understand what you are saying and I will try hard to do better," he says "You're just not getting what I am saying," and "All you keep saying is I will try harder." We've been married 6 years and this is not a new issue.

Then last night he went on to say, He's just not seeing sustained improvement in me.

What the hell does that mean? Sustained Improvement. I try to live a Christian/God-driven life and consider What would Jesus do in this situation? So I try to just let him roll of of me and pray for him. But inside of me I feel hurt and angry. And now I find I don't like him and don't want to be around him. There. I said it.

What are your thoughts?

Thank you for listening, I'm in a lot of pain today.
