The Last Lecture Quote Page Number

On what page in The Last Lecture is this quote?

"We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand." (p. 17, The Last Lecture, Randy Pausch)

The Last Lecture Quotes?

I couldn't find that exact quote, but I found some similar ones.

"...The brick walls are there to stop the people who don't want it badly enough. They're there to stop the other people." p. 73

"Brick walls are there for a reason. They give us a chance to show how badly we want something." p. 79

"Brick walls are there for a reason. And once you get over them-even if someone has practically had to throw you over-it can be helpful to others to tell how you did it." p. 174

The Last Lecture, quote help?

"But remember, the brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people." (page 8)

"So my next piece of advice is, you just have to decide if you’re a Tigger or and Eeyore. [...] Never lose the childlike wonder. It’s just too important. It’s what drives us. Help others." (page 19)

"We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand." (page 3)

What are some good quotes from the book "The Last Lecture"?

Some lines/quotes/ideas from the book that I really liked and actually learnt from- We cannot change the cards we're dealt, just how we play the hand.- Just because you're in the driver's seat, doesn't mean you have to run people over.- When you're screwing up and nobody says anything to you anymore, that means they've given up on you.- A man who knew what he didn't know , was perfectly willing to admit it, and didn't want to leave until he understood. That's heroic to me.- It's easy to look smart when you're parroting smart people.- A dutch uncle - person who gives you honest feedback- The brick walls are there to stop the people who don't want it badly enough. They're there to stop the other people.- The person who failed often knows how to avoid future failures. The person who knows only success can be oblivious to all the pitfalls.

How do you cite lecture notes in an essay (MLA)?

I'm thinking (professors last name, date)

If you are still unsure you can always ask your professor and double check to make sure what you decided was correct.

How does the last page of your notebook look?

Thanks Harshat Dhanayat for evoking so many fond memories of school times with this beautiful question of yours. You have managed to remind me of the slowly crawling afternoons, spent wondering how much more time is left before the bell rings! When the repetitive noises from the front of the room cajoled me into a lull, made me meander into my own world, to imagine much more happening afternoons in the countryside of my mom's native state “Kerala”. Playing in courtyard of my grandmother's house or fishing with my mom and sister by the banks of Pamba River which was her backyard and so many more.Being a city bred boy who never had a courtyard for himself, I doodled on the last page of my notebook mostly an imaginary house in the countryside, one with a long verandah and a courtyard, a tree next to it and a flock of birds flying somewhere far away on the horizon.Something like this…Another doodle I remember doodling is of a quaint Chinese man with long moustaches and narrow eyes in a straw hat wearing a robe with long flowing sleeves with his hands held together. I suspect many hours spent watching Chinese Kungfu serials on Home TV (a TV channel we all loved) might have something to do with this.Another doodle I recall is one of a fisherman in a boat battling the waves at sea, this was an image from English text book which just fascinated me. I invariably recreated it in my shoddy style like this..So all in all the last page of some of my notebooks would end up looking like this. Thanks again for rekindling that lost romance,That's a slice of my childhood for you.

Fahrenheit 451 Page # Question?

I actually just finished this book last night, and still have it with me.

The passage you're looking for takes place when Montag, Beatty, and the other firemen go to the woman's house. It's page 68 in my book, a few paragraphs in.

How do I cite a quote out of a packet handed out in class?

Class/Lecture Notes Distributed by Professor
MLA also does not have any official rule on class/lecture notes that are provided to a class by the professor, either through handouts or PowerPoint slideshows. Because such notes are documented by a party other than the student, however, we would suggest that you include these in your Works Cited unlike other class notes. Simply consider these documents as you would other unpublished papers or presentations, but use the designator "Course notes" or "Course handout" to identify the type of document it is.

For notes that are purchased or handed out in class:

Instructor's Name. "Title of Handout/Notes/Slideshow." Course notes. Name of Course. Dept., Institution. Date notes were received.

Seas, Kristen. "Conference Guidelines." Course handout. Introductory Composition. Dept. of English, Purdue University. 25 Aug. 2006.

For notes available online as PDFs & PowerPoint slides on course site:

Instructor's Name. "Title of Document." Course notes. Date distributed (or created, if known). Course title. Course home page. Dept., Institution. Date accessed from site. .

Meunier, Pascal. "CS 380S Week 4: Format String Vulnerabilities and Integer Overflows." Course notes. 31 Jan. 2007. Secure Programming. Course home page. Dept. of Computer Science, Purdue University. 5 Mar. 2007. <>http://www.cs.purdue.edu/homes/cs390s/refs.html>
