Is there any possible means by which someone can call me using 8 digit phone number?

Yes, it is possible. Different countries have different phone length format. If a phone number is other than 10 digit then the call is from other country. India's national numbering format is 10- digit for both land line phone as well as cellular phone services. This 10-digit format is expected to remain for another 30 years. So, if someone is calling you from an 8 digit phone number then it is an International call. Trace out from which country you are getting call using the country code format i.e., first 2 or 3 digits. If you want to know the person who is calling you then search that number in truecaller. Most of the 8 digit phone number calls are scam. So, don't pick up such calls if the number is unknown to you. Block those numbers if they are repeatedly disturbing you. Also, if your friends or relatives are staying in foreign countries ask them to send their number (via gmail, yahoo, facebook etc) before calling you.Below mentioned is the link to know different country codesInternational Dialing Codes and Country Codes

How did the prophet Muhammad react when someone said something against his friends? Was he merciful?

No, if anyone who stood up against Muhammad they were killed.Surah 9:29 Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture. The Hadith shows this in action.Kill the Non-BelieversSahih Bukhari: In-book reference / Book 2, Hadith 18Narrated Ibn 'Umar:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: "I have been ordered (by Allah) to fight against the people until they testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), and offer the prayers perfectly and give the obligatory charity, so if they perform that, then they save their lives and property from me except for Islamic laws and then their reckoning (accounts) will be done by Allah."There is no tolerance show by Muhammad, He Killed EveryoneSahih Muslim:In-book reference / Book 33, Hadith 95It has been narrated (through a still different chain of transmitters) on the Same authority (i. e. 'Arfaja) who said similarly-but adding:" Kill all of them." I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: When you are holding to one single man as your leader, you should kill who seeks to undermine your solidarity or disrupt your unity.Sahih Bukhari : In-book reference / Book 65, Hadith 4585Narrated `Urwa:Az-Zubair quarrelled with a man from the Ansar because of a natural mountainous stream at Al-Harra. The Prophet (ﷺ) said "O Zubair! Irrigate (your lands and the let the water flow to your neighbor The Ansar said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) (This is because) he (Zubair) is your cousin?" At that, the Prophet's face became red (with anger) and he said "O Zubair! Irrigate (your land) and then withhold the water till it fills the land up to the walls and then let it flow to your neighbor." So the Prophet (ﷺ) enabled Az- Zubair to take his full right after the Ansari provoked his anger. The Prophet (ﷺ) had previously given a order that was in favor of both of them Az-Zubair said, "I don't think but the Verse was revealed in this connection: "But no, by your Lord, they can have no faith, until they make you judge in all disputes between them."
