The Peaceful Quran Verses Have Been Canceled By The Vviolent. Why Do Muslims Still Quote The

Why do Muslim preachers quote only the peaceful verses in the Quran and do not quote the violent verses to explain their worldview?

Because they are constantly having to respond to the bigots who cherry pick the seemingly violent ones.Violence is a (deliberately) confused concept, especially when it comes to disparaging Islam and Muslims. Only a dreaming pacifist takes offense at violence as such. But the real discussion should not be about the use of violence, it should be about the justification for the use of violence.Self defense may call for the use of justified violenceLaw enforcement may call for justified violenceEliminating a future threat may call for justified violencePunishment may call for justified violenceEtc….Don't get hung up on each and every word associated with violence! Understand the context and always ask: is this violence justified?

With all due respect, what do Muslims think about violent Quran verses?

Most muslims read the verses in the context of the Qur’an (i.e. reading the verses that precede or come after) as well as with historical context (what was happening at that point in history).2:191–193Let’s look at that context:“Fight in the way of Allah those who fight you but do not transgress. Indeed. Allah does not like transgressors.” — Qur’an 2:190 So it basically says, fight those who are fighting against you, defend yourself! That isn’t promoting violence, that says to stand up for yourself. Some online sources use the word “Fitna” to make it sound scary, however Fitnah is simply a state of disorder and chaos, check Wikipedia (Fitna (word)).4:76Dr Maher Hathout’s comments on 4:76 are a great explaination“This verse is related to the two preceding verses (see 4:74-75) where it was stated that those who fight for God's cause would be rewarded whether they are victorious or slain. Fighting for God's cause includes the liberation of the oppressed, meaning the helpless men and women who are yearning and praying for freedom. The believers fight for God's cause, and the disbelievers fight for the sake of their idols. An idol may be taken conceptually. For example, evil or greed may figuratively be construed as idols. The believers should put all their trust in God the Almighty and Powerful and fear not the disbelievers and their evil plans. Evil plans are always inferior to goodness.”9:124The recurring topic of this chapter is people who break treaties and act like hypocrites when making oaths. While not immediately obvious, this verse is also a reference to what should be done to people who break treaties. As for any other verses you might find and want an explanation on, you can check my Quora post about it: Debunking the Lies (Full) by Jeremy Spencer on ask-a-muslim. I noticed all the questions like yours so I compiled a list of every questionable verse and added contextual and scholarly explanation to each.

Islam -- religion of peace, love and tolerance for others?

So many Muslims I have talked to say that Islam is the most tolerant, peaceful and loving religion. However, if the majority of any religions adherents practice a religion in a particular way, then THAT is what the religion is, regardless of what a minority say or what a verse here or there says. Can anybody tell me which Muslim countries are tolerant, loving and peaceful toward other religions including Jews and Christians?

Does the QURAN HAVE TOO MUCH VIOLENCE IN IT or is it just the right amount?

Go to a Quran word search engine and type in any violent words you can think of and see what comes up. http://www.islamicity.com/

Just about any word of violence will get you hundreds of hits. If youve read the Quran before you know what Im talking about. Its loaded with violence.

Muslims explain "well it was written during wartime when Muhammad was defending himself alllll over the place...he defended himself into Medina and then Mecca and the whole of Arabia!"

Well, putting Muhammad's new defintion of "defending" aside, we still are left with the question of why Allah would think it wise to fill most of his book with violence? I mean, whatever Muhammad's violenent idea of religion was, certainly Allah was not subject to Muhammad was he?

I mean, Allah never had to mention anything about war and Muhammad's beheading of 800 jewish prisoners, he could have simply used his book to impart wisdom and law as opposed to war narratives.

How do you explain these violent Quranic verses?

I'm not trying to attack Muslims. I AM Muslim. But I saw this list and... I don't know what to think. They're real verses. Is the Quran really this violent?

For those who 9:5 in the Quran to claim that Islam is a violent religion.... did you try to read 9:6?

It's a shame your god couldn't make this clearer - it seems a great many muslims don't understand this either.

Muslims-The quran states to "kill the infidel" how can this be love?

The bible says to "love one another",
1 John 4: 7,8 says "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God: and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love."
