The Room Where I Stay My Iphone Can Connect Wifi But My Pc Cannot/can I Use Wifi Throught Iphone On

When my phone connects to WiFi I can't use my VPN. But when I use a 4G network, my VPN can be connected. Why is that?

Many Wi-Fi routers can’t forward GRE packets and it is required by PPTP. 4G network has no problem with GRE. So check what protocol you are using. If its PPTP, this may be the case. Try switching the protocol to something like IKEv2, IPSecure or L2TP/IPSecure.

My android phone can't connect to the WiFi, but my laptop can. How do I fix this?

If your phone has WiFi then turn it on then enter the credentials required. Also check if security is activated. You also have to be in range of the router as WiFi only goes as far as 300 metres.

Iphone 5 won't connect to home wifi anymore?

Up until about two days ago I could sit in bed and use the wifi at home normally with no problems. Now whenever I go to my room it won't connect! However if I use a laptop that connects just fine. The connection is practically nonexistent unless i'm standing in the same room as the router or at least reallllly close to that room. It's never done this before. I used to have excellent connection throughout the bottom level of our house and my room upstairs. Why is it doing this???? How do I fix it? Ive already tried rebooting the router and forgetting the network on my phone and then rejoining it. Ive also tried turning my phone on and off so what do I do?

Why do i have to be so close to my router to connect and stay connected to my wifi on my macbook?

I don't think it's your router like these other guys are saying because you said your iPhone works throughout the while house. I believe you MacBook has a problem with picking up wifi at long distances so there is most likely something wrong with the antenna in your laptop. Try looking up how to fix it yourself or take it to an Apple store.

Phone's WiFi slows down internet connection?

As I've gathered your issue is your S5 slows down your wifi after it connects connect? The other guy Mamianka seems to either not read the question or is putting his own issues down.

The S5 can slow down your home internet (especially if you're on DSL like me), if you have Google + backups enabled, dropbox, Google Drive, YouTube preloading, or anything in the background such as Skype. Any of those will continuously drain your connection.

I have a 3MB/s DSL connection. It can stream YouTube in 720p on my PC, just fine when my S5 is on 4G LTE.
Once I enable Wifi on my S5, my 3MB/s DSL gets like 0.72 MB/s on speedtest when I test it on my desktop PC.

That's because my phone is constantly backing up photos to Google +.

After I disabled that, my S5 can stay on Wifi, and my PC gets like 287Kbps or 2.56MB/s to 2.89MB/s via Speedtest.net

Try doing what I said above.

If it still is slow, then try disabling background data, then connecting to wifi. Hopefully then your other devices (Desktop PC, Xbox, PS3 etc) won't suffer poor speeds.

PS: Mamianka I have the same issue as the OP, but my Desktop PC is connected via Ethernet (aka wired connection), gets up to 2.92MB/s, but when my S5 would connect to the router my Desktop's speeds would fall to as bad as 0.56MB/s.

Can you connect to your WiFi anywhere by using a VPN?

There are two totally different things known as VPNs:A server running at your office, that allows you to connect to your ffice computer through the internet, from anywhere in the world that there’s an internet connection.A private system that allows you to connect to a server, then forwards your connection to its internet connection.Either one will allow your device to appear as if it’s somewhere else, but not “anywhere”, just the places the two connect to the internet. As for connecting your wifi? Probably not. Your router has to connect to a modem (if there isn’t already a modem in the same case), and that connects through a phone line or cable to your internet provider - and that’s “where” you “are” on the internet. You can connect a phone to a type 2 VPN. You can connect a desktop to a Type 2 VPN. But connecting your wifi router to it would be difficult.Since a Type 1 vPN just shows you a few miles from where you are (and if your office uses the same provider that you do, it shows you as being “at” the same “place”), it wouldn’t be of any use even if you could connect your router to it (which a VPN of that type would disconnect you from anyway). If you want to be “invisible”, find an SSL VPN. Then run Tor on your device, to connect to that VPN. It’s not perfect, but it will make it more difficult for someone to find out where you are. (Unless it’s your government - then it’s trivial for them to find out.)Of course, running Wifi sort of blows the whole idea. Anyone with Wireshark can see what you’re doing (and the program is free).

Can I update my iPhone iOS 8 to iOS 9 without using Wifi?

Yes, but it will take a long time and use up lots of data on your plan.

Why do you have to pay for data on your smartphone but not have to pay for data over a WiFi connection?

For one, you can argue that there is a greater challenge (and therefore cost) in providing a data connection to a mobile, constantly moving phone, than there is to a fixed, wired connection to a house. Instead of a wire buried in the ground, your phone uses a network of radio towers spread all over - which require power, maintenance, etc.

Also, there are some phone providers who do provide unlimited data service - Sprint, I think is one.

Also, because they've seen that people are willing to pay. It sucks, but there's really no other option for people, so it'll stay the way it is until something changes.
