For certain events, there would be free food in the back room. Occasionally, we would get a coupon for a free item, usually a new product the store was carrying. But, in general, the policy is not to give free food. Even food that is 'distressed' (marked unsellable) is not supposed to be eaten by employees even if it is still perfectly good. Like the other answer brought out, most grocery chains give employee discounts. I've seen anywhere from 5% to 20% off. At the store I worked at it, we got 10% off store brands and 5% off almost everything else. Occasionally, they would do holiday discounts where you would get 10% off everything and 20% off the store's generic brands, and those were really nice.

It’s been all over the world as my travel jacket and my best friend. I think I will be laid out wearing it.Another find came from Goodwill. It was a hunting suit made up of a pair or camouflage pants and a matching jacket. I put an olive and brass colored belt to cinch in the jacket and then wore olive-colored pointed low heeled shoes.It was the HIT of the evening. And still talked about after some years.The latest is a Chinese-made red silk smoking robe and tassel — embroidered with green dragons and multi- colored bats and pink clouds. It’s now an evening dress I wear with low-heeled pointed red shoes.So shop thrift stores. They can be real treasure chests. And most proceeds go for a good cause. Have fun!
