Can I get US citizenship faster?

Due to some complications I did not get my Green Card until not too long ago. I'm doing Army ROTC at Virginia Tech, but since, legally, I have to wait 5 years to apply for citizenship I won't be able to commission by the time I graduate. So, I was wondering if it was at all possible to receive my citizenship faster, before I graduate, so I can commission. Maybe the Army can somehow help me out...

What is the fastest path to US citizenship?

In order of speed:Born as a US citizen (instant).Under age 18 when a parent becomes a naturalized US citizen (I think this also happens instantly …. except that it does not happen at birth, it happens when the parent becomes a naturalized US citizen) (right?).Naturalize as a US citizen via military service (1 day after boot camp plus whatever time was spent on a non-immigrant visa for MAVNI or permanent residency). (([Footnote]: … found via a Google lookup: … << What is the Mavni program? Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest (MAVNI) allows certain non-citizens who are legally present in the United States to join the U.S. military and apply immediately for U.S. citizenship using Form N-400, “Application for Naturalization,” without first obtaining lawful permanent residence. >> [end footnote].))Naturalize as a US citizen via marriage (3–4 years minimum).Win a Green Card in the Diversity Lottery and naturalize. (5–7 years).Naturalize as a US citizen via family preference immigration, asylum, refugee or employment (5–6 years minimum, 10–40 years depending on circumstances, nation of origin and/or preference category).Naturalize as a US citizen via family, low preference basis (10–25 years).Naturalize as a US citizen via an Act of Congress (forever to impossible)

How can I become a US citizen?

You must first obtain permanent resident status in the US, which a can be obtained by an application. To qualify, you must hold a legal immigrant visa and be sponsored by a family member who is a US citizen, be sponsored by a company operating within the US, or have been granted political asylum in the US. There are a couple of other programs that are more rarely used (for example, an owner of a company that employs at least 40 full-time workers in the US can get a special application). Note that you can be disqualified for  all sorts of reasons too (certain diseases, criminal offenses, etc.)After you get permanent residency, you must reside in the US for 5 years. After 5 years, if you are 18 years old, or older, you can file a form N-400 application with the Department of Homeland Security in the state where you reside (you must have lived there for at least 90 days prior to applying). You will need to show that you've lived in the US for those 5 years (you can travel, but you cannot be gone for more than 6 months in a year). You must reside in the US during the application process (you can travel, but there are limits on how long and there are forms to file if you do). You must be able to demonstrate to an examiner an ability to read, write, and speak English -- and you will take a brief exam on US history and government, administered in English. Lastly, the law requires that you "be a person of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the United States" (namely, if there's evidence that you are a criminal or have bad intent, you can be disqualified). After the application is processed and the exam is passed, your case worker will arrange for you to take part in a swearing in ceremony as a US citizen. You will be required to take an oath whereby you promise to uphold and defend the constitution, renounce you allegience to foreign governments, and that you will obey the law.Following the naturalization ceremony, you would be a US citizen in every respect EXCEPT that you will not be permitted to serve as President or Vice-president of the United States.

How long does it take for a u.s citizen to bring their spouse to usa.?

It can take up to a year to process the paperwork, if you file in the US. however, you won't be able to file directly overseas unless you are actually a resident in whatever country you are trying to file. Normally, you have to be resident for at least 6 months prior to filing, but you can always check at the embassy to know for sure. check out usembassy.gov for the websites of every US embassy and consulate overseas.

Is this guy trying to use me to get citizenship?

I've been talking to this guy from Macedonia the past 3 weeks. For our first date, he took me to a real nice restaurant downtown. Ever since that night he's been telling me how strong his feelings are for me, and that he's in love me. He's very affectionate and romantic, he's driven over an hour to see me, he texts me every morning, every evening, and we talk on the phone every night before going to bed. Last week he invited me to his parents house where they prepared a Macedonian dinner for me and my two teenage kids. His father was amazing and served us dinner like we were some kind of royalty.

He's been in America for 8 months and is not a citizen. He was honest and told me about this. He stated that the easiest way for him to become a citizen would be to get married to an American lady some day. He never asked me if I would be willing to do this directly though. He has mentioned us living together someday. Honestly, I'm not ready to move in or get married. I told him my feelings and he seems to be ok with that, but he's convinced that in the future him and I will get married.

I just don't understand how he can claim he's in love with me in such a short amount of time; and this is why I am asking this question.

Btw, he's 9 years younger than me if this makes any difference. I'm 39 and he's 30. I don't look my age though and he actually looks older than me.

What are some signs that a foreign man may be using a woman for citizenship? Any thoughts or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

How do you get dual citizenship in Malaysia and US?

Hello,
just a quick question about getting dual citizenship in the US.
i have a friend that lives in Malaysia i met him on a visit to there because a small part of my family is from Malaysia.
but anyway, he wants to move to the US because Malaysia has crazy laws against gays and well he is gay.
and i know the US is no sanctuary for gays either, but at least he is more free to be who he wants to be here right?
but anyway i just want to help a friend out.

and i don't know anything about they citizenship system so i am curious is there a separate process for gaining dual citizenship? or would he just have to be granted US citizenship though the normal way?

i suppose i could marry him then he would get citizenship that way (joking)
actually! if i did that would he lose his citizenship if we were to get divorced?

i feel dumb asking about this honestly...
and sorry i don't know much about this type of stuff... but that's what this site is for right? :D

These are hard to get you need to prove your life is in danger in India and the government cannot protect you or the Government wants your life and liberty.Indians have tried to exploit every loophole to get into US. Recently even EB1 category is getting filled by Indians. Just start a protest in India instead to enforce one child policy and/or make India a better place to live. There would be no need to come to US.
