Thinking About Moving Out Of Surrey What Should I Do

I'm thinking of moving to Surrey, are there any nice areas that I should take into consideration?

Surrey is one of the best places to move to, with lots of hidden treasures that make this location even better.Great city links that get you to into London within 30 mins, it doesn’t matter which area you choose the fantastic links will ensure you got to work smoothly. There are many areas within the county that are perfect for both families and commuters alike.Thorpe Park is one of Surreys biggest attractions available, amazing day out for everyone!

Why does Surrey have such a bad reputation?

Surrey has a bad reputation since it's a cheaper city to live in than Vancouver, people who are less wealthy (not all, but most) live there. And the stereotype is that with lower income people, you get less classy people.

Also, Surrey does have a higher crime rate than Vancouver (though that's understandable since it's the city with the highest population growth in all of BC). There's significantly more shootings in Surrey (or at least more that you hear on the news).

With all this said, there are parts of Surrey that are upscale and expensive, like Fraser Heights and Morgan Creek. But when people think Surrey, they automatically think Newton area (by Central City) which is like the downtown Eastside of Vancouver.

I want to move to Surrey/London, is this doable?

I think a freelance career could be your answer. If you are successful (and I recommend teaming up with a copywriter (like me!) and a good client account manager) you will be able to afford a modest home.Alternatively, take your portfolio around some of the bigger London agencies. Here is  something to think about. These days, you don't need a bricks and mortar agency. You can have a virtual agency created by a network of freelancers. that makes a huge difference in overheads and, therefore, your profit.

Why do people from Surrey say they're from London?

There’s some overlap between what is historically Surrey and what is now Greater London. Also people living in Surrey may have moved out from London.

Is Surrey B.C. (Canada) a nice residential area? What's it like?

It's unfortunate that you'll always find people who turn their noses up at what they don't see as "a good place to live" and make a blanket statement about an entire city. There are some very nice areas of Surrey and of course, like many communities, areas that leave a bit to be desired. The problem is that most people have never lived in the area that they are condemning and only go by hearsay. Contrary to popular belief, there are areas of the Lower Mainland that have higher crime scores! Best to fully research the area that you're thinking of moving to. :)

We are planning to move to Old Couldson, Purley, Coulsdon or Sanderstead. Opinions?

Hi, we are planning to move to one of the above destinations. We have a budget of £300,000 and by the looks of it on rightmove Old Coulsdon seems most reasonable and there seems to be a lot of reasonable houses for sale in Caterham Drive. The age of the people moving are a 29 year old who will be living with us temporarily and a 92 year old and 2 people in their mid 70s. We have looked at police.uk and it seems the crime is quite low compared to where we live at the moment in Paignton / Torquay in Devon.
Is their a reason Old Coulsdon is Cheaper than somewhere like Purley?
Are the people generally nice in the areas and accepting of some older folks? :D
We would all like to be able to access public transport fairly easily.
Also if you could choose to live in one of these areas where would it be and why?
The reason we are moving is we have relatives and friends that live in Sutton and Epsom, those places are nice but way out of our budget for what we need. We have asked them their thoughts but would like to have some opinions from people who live around the areas.

Thanks in advance for your answers. :D
