Thinking Of Getting A New Car Any Ideas

Do you think getting a BMW 320D for a first car is a bad idea?

I will try to make this really really simple for you. This vehicle is a powerful machine. The braking system and suspension is amazing and the vehicle itself is fully loaded with technology. This is not a back seat boss car rather a driver’s car. So if you love driving, you will never regret buying this car.If this is your first luxury car, its a BIG yes. I have been driving this car for 6 months now and it always exceeds my expectations. Its really powerful and yet the fuel consumption is as good as a regular diesel sedan. There are 3 things that I would like to consider hereAre you buying a new car or a pre-owned car? If its a pre-owned car, I would not suggest buying BMW 320D that is more than 4–5 years old. This is the best point to buy it when the maintenance cost and depreciation are both low but do get it checked before buying. In this case you can drive it for 2 years and sell it. If its a new BMW 320D, you will get a major Depreciation hit in the first 5 years so its better to sell after 5-7 years only.Consider the cost of maintaining a BMW in your country? Parts are more expensive in some countries than other. For Example : They are crazy high in India. For the price of maintaining one BMW 320D, you can maintain 3 Honda City Cars of the same year (new vs new and pre-owned vs pre-owned)If you really want to go for a diesel engine If you are the kind of person who is going to use this car only on the weekends, you may better opt for a petrol engine than a diesel engine as you maintenance is going to be low in that case. Before going for the BMW, I took test drives of Audi and Merc of the same level. I personally got the best driving experience in 320D.Its Sheer driving pleasure. All the best!

Are there any options for keeping my car hood from getting the paint chipped by gravel?

I'm a painter. My own car[s] have the same thing happen around here on our dirt roads. It's pretty tough on windshields too! One observation I've made is the shape of the car means everything.Your Stratus hood is like a magnet for chips, like my Mazda6.When doing it's last repaint I added extra primer to the hood before painting it.That seems to cushion the impact from the flying gravel somewhat. And a heavier than normal clear coat helps too.Other than that,I don't see any way to prevent it.The worst stone chip situation seems to be when a hood has been repainted at some point and the paint film is thin and weak.I would discuss this with your painter in the future.

How much did you pay for your car lease? Do you think you got a fair deal?

usually most people will pay a hair less money per month for a lease over a purchase but will usually have to put the same amount down as the average retail customer.

What makes a lease nice is for those who don't drive over 12,000 miles a year and like having a new car every three years or so... however you get penalized for any modifications that harms the resale value and you get penalized for every mile over the agreed upon milage limit (meaning a car that may sit at your home for a couple of months to aviod a 5 cents/mile over charge)

It's up to you... if you can live in their rules.. a lease is perfect, other than that a retail contract may be better

Is buying a new car a bad idea?

OK I am going to do a bit of work for this answer. To start, I picked a 2018 Camry XSE with no extra options. The MSRP starts at $29,150. So I went out to TrueCar-dot-Com and they list this car at a slightly higher $30,070 and the average price is $28,006, about $2k less than MSRP. Right now Toyota is offering $1000 cash back, or 0.9% for 48 months. So, let’s take the $1000 off, and so we get $27,006.Now as luck would have it, Carmax is showing a 2018 Camry with 10k miles. I don’t see anything in the listing that shows extra equipment from the standard XSE, but maybe there is something extra, I don’t know.Anyway, to buy this 1 year old car with 10k miles would cost you … ready to see how much money you save buying used? It costs …wait for it … let the suspense build …Yep, I’m going to round and say $31k - $27k is, uhm, well, the used one is about $4,000 more than the new one. Is that how much money you expected to save? Now, to be sure, a 3 year old Camry is significantly less than this one that is less than a year old with only 10k miles. I see them going from $17k to 23k, depending on mileage and whatever. So yes, you can save $9,000 if you buy a 3 year old car with 46k miles. For me, I prefer new. I have never seen ‘great prices’ at Carmax with their ‘no haggle’ pricing. I have been at a Honda dealer and seen used Civics on their used lot that cost as much as similar new ones. I don’t get it.Anyway, I told my sons my experiences, and they both looked at used cars and new ones, and found, if you wait for incentives and get a good deal on a new car, you are just as well of, maybe better off, buying new, when you get your choice of colors and options, you don’t have to take a lot of time looking at listings and driving all over, don’t have to take used cars for inspections, don’t get a full warranty, etc. They ended up buying new, too, and got great deals, even though they thought they’d find two year old cars at much better prices. So, I know there are a lot of people on Quora that tell you you’re wasting money buying new and you should buy that 3 year old car instead. Well, maybe they are right. And maybe you’ll find a better price from a private party or you can do better negotiating at some place other than Carmax. I know I have gotten good discounts from TrueCar and combined with mfg incentives, they are really good deals and I can’t see why I would buy one of those used ones.

Considering buying a new engine for my 2002 tahoe. any ideas on the cost of this and is it worth it?

hi, i have a 2002 chevy tahoe that is in great condition. i have 140,000 miles on it but haven't had any problems until now. my engine's lower area is causing me troubles and a mechanic around town told me to get a new car. i find that hard to do because it is in great condition. it's just the engine that is troubled. i looked around and it looks like 5 thousand or so to buy a new engine. is this a good estimate? how much does it normally cost to get installed? i really don't want to get a new car and deal with payments. any thoughts?

What is the error in this sentence, "We didn't think buying a new car."?

“We didn’t think” is a complete sentence: subject (we), verb (did think). The problem is with “buying a new car.” You don’t tell us what “buying a new car” has to do with what you think. Here are some possible connections:We didn’t think about buying a new car. (We only looked at used ones.)We didn’t think buying a new car would be so expensive (complicated, time consuming, etc.).Once you tell us how “buying a new car” is related to “we didn’t think,” then you have a proper sentence.

Is buying a discontinued car a good idea?

I think that it mainly depends on why it was discontinued. For example, you could choose between two discontinued sports sedans. We’ll use the Chevrolet SS and the Dodge Avenger R/T.The Chevrolet SS was discontinued due to the Australian factory in Holden shutting down. Motor Trend calls it one of the best sports sedans the U.S. could have seen, and I miss it myself quite frankly. As for the Dodge Avenger R/T, it couldn’t really stand a chance. The car is known for an intense amount of problems, and most people just didn’t like it. Me personally, I think it’s a handsome looking car and the R/T motor from 2013 does sound kind of nice, but Dodge wasn’t thinking straight. It all depends on what you’re going for. I would’ve told you a MK4 is a perfect choice for a discontinued car, but BMW made a car and Toyota called it the Supra. If you want to know what I’d shoot for in the discontinued car scene, a Porsche 944.
