This Fps Game From Late 90s Early 2000s Not Halo Or Deus Ex

What are some of the most game-changing video games of all time, and why?

Video games wouldn't be great as they are now and probably in the future if innovative video games hadn't come along. So here are some of the most game-changing video games of all time:1. Battlefield revolutionized vehicular combat from a first person perspective.2. Metal Gear paved the way to the stealth genre.3. Virtua Racing (Genesis) for being the first portable polygon game via the Sega Nomad.4. Before the Wii mote, there was the power glove.5. Wolfenstein 3D has you carrying 4 weapons including a pistol, a knife, a Gatling gun, and a machine gun.6. Rogue gave us the industry standard for rogue-like games with perma-death and many other harsh rules.7. EverQuest laid the groundwork for many MMORPG's today.8. Megaman pretty much shows the industry the basics of video game design.9. Myst gave players a virtual world to immerse themselves in.10. Half Life created modern standards for many video games today. It gave narrative and cohesive plot to the FPS genre.11. RuneScape made free-to-play aspects of games popular and viable.12. Pokemon was a cultural phenomenon and created the concept of trading between systems.13. Donkey Kong vitalized Nintendo before the crash of '83.14. Counter-strike created the modern standard for multiplayer shooters.15. Star-craft created the idea of ESport.16. Mortal Kombat is one of the first major video game controversies in the media. Finish him!17. Pac-Man put arcade video games on the US map.18. Shadow of the Colossus pushed on what a narrative and story can bring to a gamer.19. Sonic the Hedgehog started console wars.20. Team Fortress 2 spawned the largest video game economy of all time.21. World of Warcraft is the most popular MMORPG of all time and set the standards for MMOs that are very hard to beat.22. What single player videogame should I play? I play videogames for the story so the graphics don’t really matter.

People are probably going to yell something like Skyrim or Dark Souls, but I’ll present you with a different option to consider.Have a couple hundred hours to spare?Play Hearts of Iron III. I’d watch an episode or two of Band of Brothers just to get in the mood, and then bam, there go at least a dozen weekends of playtime. It’s true, I spent 10–15 hours just watching tutorials so I can play that game. But dominating the entirety of West Africa as Angola was just too enticing an offer to pass on. And you have the liberty of reshaping history as you go, even making India an aggressor in World War II, or maybe agreeing to let Germany have Czechoslovakia and Austria in the early 30s to avoid that whole Anschluss mess. The game follows an accurate historical timeline and lets you play as literally any country in the world. The events are engaging and the amount of power at your fingertips (no pun intended) can become addictive. You can choose to dive right into the war or start around 1934 (?) and spend 5 years preparing for the inevitable. You can’t trigger the war early on but you can even make the U.S become an Axis power if you suppress your people and rig enough elections. The interesting part here is the economic and the militaristic aspects of the game. You’ll have hundreds of officers and commanders at one point and an economy the size of several hundred freighters, and if you can’t run your country right, you’re in trouble. I’d leave the economy to the AI because it’s a bit bugged in this installment. But there are patches and mods to consider.IV is a good one as well but I feel it’s a bit too dumbed down to appeal to the masses, so I like III more, which was only popular among select RTS gamers at its peak for its complexity (the company that made HoI, Paradox, is known for making grand strategy games).

Which old PC games are still worth playing today?
