Can you kill a deer with a pellet gun?
You can legally hunt deer with air rifles in many states now. No ,not the typical .177 caliber run of the mill pellet rifle tho. These rifles that are legal are PCP air rifles. They use compressed gas and larger caliber pellets . Now the question asked can you kill a deer with a pellet rifle not what was legal hunting procedure. I will say this. Don’t ever break any kind of game laws. It’s not only unethical but unfair to the animal. Use something capable and designed to do the job. If I was in some crazy survival situation where I was starving and game laws did not apply, I believe a small deer could be dropped within a short distance with a head shot from a .22 caliber air rifle. I saw first hand what one of those was capable of. Well, I didn’t see it firsthand. I saw the aftermath. I would be in jail if I knew the culprit. Anyway, a few years back, a friend’s large German Shepherd was killed with one shot to the head by his crazy neighbor. He used a .22 caliber air rifle. There was nothing my friend could do about it, because there are leash laws and the neighbor claimed he was protecting his chickens. Also, there are videos on YouTube of people killing fairly decent sized wild hogs with the .22 caliber. Now this is just my opinion and, again, not condoning it; just saying I believe it’s possible.
