This Is A Question With Lots Of Other Questions. I There A Multi Shot Pellet Rifle With Scope

.22LR pellet rifle for $250 or less for squirrel hunting?

.22 cal Benjamin Sheridan 392 Bolt Action Pump Air Rifle, I have it and love it. very accurate, pretty good power and will stop a squirrel or rabbit dead in it's fuzzy little tracks. It only costs about $130 too, helluva deal in my opinion.

by the way .22LR is a rifle cartridge, and the bullets for a .22LR round have a slightly bigger diameter and will not fit in a .22 cal pellet gun.

What is the best pellet to use for a BSA Ultra multishot 22. caliber?

August is correct. I've been a quest recently to find the best pellet for my gun. So far I have tested Crosman Premiers, Bejamin Silver Stings, Benjamin Crow Magnums, RWS Superdomes, and RWS Super Line wadcutters. The Silver Stings and the wadcutters suck out of my rifle. The other 3 are similar, but it appears lately like the RWS Superdomes are slightly more consistent. The forum at www.gatewaytoairguns.org has a pellet exchange. On there you cat buy a packet of 10 pellets, 30 each, for around 20 bucks including shipping. That will let you test 10 pellets to determine the best for your gun.

What is the best distance and method to site in a pellet rifle?

I have been zeroing on my indoor range at 10m. This gives me a fairly flat, point of aim, trajectory on my iron sighted pellet rifles out to 30–40 yards, then I must aim higher. For my scoped rifles, I still zero at 10m. This is called a prime ordinate BTW. The maximum ordinate, where the pellet returns down to the line of sight, will be 50–60 yds, depending on rifle. When I do this, I must aim maybe 2 “ low at 30–40 yds.Zeroing can be a long process and to avoid unwanted attention from the law, its best to do it indoors, though my back yard range has become increasingly overt. It is illegal to shoot an airgun in my town, but the cops who harassed me the past 26 years are now retired and I think I can deal with the young ones. Of course, if you get along with your neighbors, they will not call the cops on you.The big target is an archery target. The small targets are 20 yds and you might see the base of the 40 yd targets. The other archery target doesn’t know he’s an archery target yet.

What is the difference between a air rifle scope and a rifle scope?

There is a significant difference such that you cannot interchange them. The recoil of an air gun differs from that of a cartridge rifle. Where a cartridge rifle or handgun recoils to the rear, an air gun recoils forward. this forward recoil is caused by the plunger in the air compression chamber going forward when the rifle is fired. This applies only to the single stroke air rifle. If your air rifle uses a carbon dioxide cartridge to power it, there is essentially no recoil. Never the less, scopes which are specifically designated as air rifle scopes are made so that can withstand the forward recoil. They cannot withstand a rearward recoil of a cartridge gun and will quickly be damaged by it. Conversely, any scope made for a cartridge gun will be damaged by the forward recoil of an air rifle. Even scopes designed for hard recoiling guns will be damaged by the comparatively anemic little air gun recoil. They just aren't made to withstand the forward recoil of a single stroke air rifle. Best advice is to use a scope only for the type of gun for which it was designed. They are not interchangeable.

The kid is 12. He will use the gun under supervision, in the back yard. We will mainly shoot into a heavy duty trap like this, http://www.pyramydair.com/cgi-bin/access...
but at some point, some shots will miss.
The property goes back about 100' from where we will be shooting from. Then there's some hedges about 6' tall. On the other side of the hedges is my neighbor's yard. The pool will be only about 100' behind and 50' over from the trap. I don't want to find out what that will do to an above ground pool. The house is further back, about 200' from the trap. I don't want to hit the house or anyone that lives there. What can effectively stop the stray pellets? Thanks.

Is it worth the money?
What price did you find on the 77 you're looking at?

Is it worth $70
Yes, if the rifle will do what you want.
The 77 is a dual-ammo(BBs or pellets) multi-pump pneumatic. And with pellets will deliver around 9ft-lbs** of muzzle energy
**725fps with 7.9gr pellets
Generally the 77/2100 has pretty decent accuracy out to around 25 yards

For around $30 more you could buy a spring piston air rifle. Pyramyd Air has the Daisy Powerline 1000WS for $99, and sometimes you can find the Gamo Big Cat on sale(Bass Pro, Cabela's, etc) for around the same price.

Or you can go the other way and for around $45 Walmart has the Daisy Powerline 880S. They are similar in function to the 77/2100 just not quite as heavy and have a bit less muzzle energy(7.5ft-lbs) or around 665fps with 7.7gr pellets
