This Is The First Half Of My Drama Critique. Do You Think It Is Good

Critique my first chapter. Would you read more?

Hi...

I wrote a young adult novel and I posted the first chapter on wattp.com. The chapter is very short. Please take a look and tell me what you think.

How can you practice a drama alone?

The most famous one would be practicing dialogues (or monologues) and the expressions in front of a mirror. This will allow you to see yourself real time and work on your expression. Is it too much? Too little? Strange looking? Do you need to raise your eyebrows? Or bend a little? Do you look like a shy person, an angry person, an outgoing person, a brash person, young, old, etc etc.Another way to practice requires a recorder. You can use your phone’s voice recorder or video recorder and put it on a place that can capture everything. You can also use a handycam, of course. Tape yourself doing a part of a drama or a movie that you like, then (this is important) replay it and review it. Looking back at what you’re doing allows you to see your mistakes and discover new ideas on expressing your character. Do this over and over until you’re satisfied with the result. No person to practice a dialogue? For instance, your character is called , and Z is supposed to have a dialogue with Y and X. You can tape yourself doing a dialogue of Character X and Y, and replay each sentences of Character X and Y as if Character X and Y are sitting right in front of you as you’re reading Character Z’s dialogue. Tape these with another voice recorder and replay to review.

What is your opinion about the Korean Drama 'Goblin'?

I started it for Gong Yoo and became a fan of Lee Dong Wook by the end.Tell me just one person who didn't like that guy as the Grim Reaper or as Wang Yeo and his on-screen chemistry with Gong Yoo. He was phenomenal. The fact that he didn't let go of this role is even more heart-wrenching because I can’t see anybody else playing the clueless & naive Grim Reaper. At first, all I wanted was the bromance. Later, it shifted to the Grim Reaper-Sunny angle. Till the end, I was rooting for them to get their happy ending. The cast selection was too good. Honestly, I don’t think Go Eun was bad. She’s still better than Suzy in terms of acting but Suzy still keeps acting and destroying the roles.Kim Eun Sook is a good writer. But she writes phenomenal dramas and casts seasoned actors. Her ‘Secret Garden’ is still my favorite but I hate ‘Heirs’ and don’t find ‘Descendants’ really special. But all of these had great actors.tvN dramas are always my favorite because cable dramas have more freedom to experiment than the normal ones. tvN blew it up with the budget, which clearly showed in the cinematography.OSTs of this drama are just so damn good. There’s this OST named “Beautiful” by Crush. OMG, it’s actually so beautiful. Even the instrumentals are so soul-satisfying.The only problem with this was the excess focus on Shin-Eun Tak couple when the main story revolved around Reaper-Sunny and it was only after episode 10 that the focus racked. However, what I loved the most was the relation dimensions: I loved to watch Goblin, Grim Reaper and Deok Hwa together and Goblin, Eun Tak and Grim Reaper together and Sunny, Goblin and Eun Tak together.Overall, it’s a great drama. It’s a must watch. I find it still better than ‘Legend of the Blue Sea’ despite being a Lee Min Ho and Jun Ji Hyun fan. That one was totally spoiled by some chaebol drama in the middle.

The sound of music questions...lol!?

Yay for Sound of Music! I'm trying to get my school to do it too. (crossing fingers!)
If you can only try out for one part, you should try out for Maria. It is ambitious, but even if you do not get the part, your teacher will see your talent and perhaps cast you as Liesl. Liesl's main song is Sixteen Going On Seventeen, which is pretty easy to sing compared to Maria's songs. So if you can sing well enough for Maria, you can definitely be Liesl.
The kissing depends on your teacher--because you're so young, she'll probably cut it out and make you hug or something. However, if you do have to kiss, both Maria and Liesl do so--Maria kisses the Captain, and Liesl kisses Rolf.
Good luck and let us know if you need help on audition songs or anything!

Does part of you enjoy or need drama in your life?

No No and No. Call me boring. Call me what you will - But I absolutely HATE drama. Especially now that I have reached the age I have. I have battled through a challenging life to say the least, and in fact the only drama I would like now is to wake up and argue with my husband on whose turn it is to make the tea, or watching a good dramatic film on the TV or in the cinema. That is not to say that I do not embrace change. I still lead a very varied life. I travel, I have a wide social circle, I have plenty of hobbies, been happily married for years and nurtured a lovely family. All these things in themselves present their own dramas. But I have to confess I am not good in dramatic situations. I am not. I am very methodical and organised, and not good when things do not go according to my plan. My mind kind of ceases when faced with physical drama, and with emotional dramas with families and friends I am even worse. No I have reached the stage of my life now when I am almost begging for day to day boredom, but you know what? It never seems to happen.
